I hesitated to post this because I know everyone can have a bad day, but my experience at Calloway's Automotive was concerning enough that it needs to be shared. Early last year, I brought my Toyota Highlander to Calloway's after a traction control warning light appeared. The vehicle was running smoothly; I drove it into the shop without any issues. After their inspection, they recommended replacing the high-pressure fuel pump and swapping the fuel injector on cylinder one. I agreed to the repairs and paid nearly $1,200. Shortly after picking it up, the vehicle stalled just one block away. I had to push it back to the shop. After a second round of diagnostics, I was told I needed a new engine for $10,800. That didn't sit right with me, so I declined the repair and decided to have the Highlander taken to a certified Toyota dealership for a second opinion. But here's the part that really raised alarms: the car, which I had driven in with no trouble, now wouldn't even start. I had to pay for a tow just to get it out of Calloway's. At the Toyota dealership, their technicians had it diagnosed in under 30 minutes. The issue? A simple relay or fuse had not been reinstalled by Calloway's, causing the no-start condition. Nothing was wrong with the engine. This is a cautionary tale. I understand there's a shortage of experienced technicians, and I support training new talent, but this kind of oversight suggests a serious lack of supervision or quality control. My experience was bad! I went for an AC diagnostic that said would take a few hours, about 6. They called me in less than an hour saying it was my radiator fan. I took it to my mechanic and while I was driving home it was huffing. I open my hood and see they left ac refrigerant and the ac lines cap off! I was so pissed! I called them , texted them and emailed them for a refund but they NEVER responded. I'm so happy I didn't have any motor work done there. They are terrible! By the way I replaced the fan and my AC still does not work. I am a single 30 year old woman that keeps up with my car. I trusted them because of there years in the business. STAY AWAY! read more

I have a 2008 Honda, CRV that needed several things done, (mostly preventive maintenance). Bruce the manager was very helpful and knowledgeable as is expected of someone in his position. They did excellent work on my car. While It was being done Rusty gave me a ride home, (in Euless near HEB hospital) and also picked me up when it was done. As far as price goes, I actually paid less than I would have at a few other places I had gone to first. I've been here a couple of times now and believe this is where I will be returning from now on. After having issues with my old place, my best friend told me I had to check out Calloway's because that's where they go and I'm glad I did. I got a whole bunch of work done before my trip recently and I was given a fair price. Everyone I talked to seemed very honest and straightforward so I felt confident that I was not being lied to or misled. I went in today because there was a lot of noise going on under the car and they were able to look at it and fix it within a few hours. I was only charged $56 for the removal and repair of the heat shield on the exhaust, and everyone I spoke to was polite and professional. Very straight forward and honest folks working here. I brought my car in to get my AC evaporator replaced. Huggins Honda diagnosed it for me but wanted to charge me an arm & a leg for labor. I called around and Callaway's quoted me a fair price. Need a ride home after you drop your car off? No problem! They have a dedicated associate that will drop you off and pick you up. When I picked my car up, the price they quoted is the price they charged me. No random charges/surprises/gotchas. They didn't try to up-sell me or try to get more money out of me. Every time they replaced a part, I knew I would be back in replacing that same part in 6 months right after the war would expire! I guess they use the cheapest unreliable parts available knowing I will be back. I found a mechanic who insists on using only the best parts available, once he replaces part is is good for another 5 years, not annually! Example: starters, compressor, water pumps ect. read more

Beware this business!!! They state 24 mth parts and labor but it's bogus. They will continue to make up other issues to keep you coming back. After spending over $800 we took it to the dealership and they repaired our truck and did everything once and the right way. I'm editing my previous review and adding an extra star, although I still have a reservation about the shop which I will explain. The experience with repairs is that we've always gotten very quick service. We've taken both of our household cars here, and they're always fixed the same day. All of the work they've done for us seemed to be done well. I will say that this is not the cheapest shop, and they do charge for diagnostics even if you elect to have them do the work. Other shops I know of roll the cost of diagnostics into the repair as long as you choose to have them do the work, which is my personal preference. Knowing that my minimum charge upon entering the door before anything gets fixed is $100 makes me flinch. I'm just not a high roller like that. My review of Callaway's before editing was a little less complimentary, and I had to revise for the better as a result of the communication I had with the shop owner. I came away from that feeling as though the shop really does care about trying to provide good service and to treat their customers well. You won't mysteriously need new repairs a week after getting your car fixed (which has happened to me elsewhere). They don't apologize for some costs you may not pay elsewhere, such as diagnostics, but they do stand by their work. You can count on work to be done well. If you don't happen to already know a guy you trust to work on your car and you're prepared that it might cost a little more here, Callaway's won't take advantage of you. read more

Had the minivan towed here overnight due to a no start issue. They got back to me quickly and I elected to do the repair myself. The ignition was bad. Payed $100 for diagnosis to Calloways. Replaced part they said was bad, didn't work. Had the car towed to the dealership repair shop and was told there was an extra kill switch installed aftermarket which was the real problem. Had the dealer remove the kill switch and reinstall the original ignition. Car works fine now. I feel like Calloways should have caught that during their diagnosis as part of the systems check. Great customer service and communication. Not so great on being thorough in their diagnosis. Update: owner made contact and offered full refund. Very good communication and customer service! I'm very disappointed in the service and business integrity of the owner. We took our car to this place based on the positive reviews. We took it in due to an engine light issue and took it back the 2nd time for them to state it was a different issue. The 3rd time, they were closed on the Friday night the light came on (all within a week of each other) and we had to take it to a place open on Saturday. Needless to say, they fixed the problem this place said we had the 1st time. It's been 3 weeks and the engine light has not come back on and car is running smoothly. They would not honor the 24 month parts and labor guarantee because we didn't know for the place to hang onto the "bad" part. read more

We have lived in this area less then 3 years and one of the tasks when relocating is finding an honest auto repair shop. I made my decision from previous reviews for this shop, but their service exceeded my expectations. We have an older 2nd vehicle that just keeps on going so when the AC stopped working I did not want to pay more than the car was worth. The AC would come on but blew only hot air. The issue was an AC control switch that was stuck on heat & low refrigerant. Kevin called a Nissan dealer & was told they no longer make the part (2006 Nissan Sentra) so he sent for a used part. Unfortunately the used part came in with the same issue. Kevin kept me up to date on what was going on and I appreciated that so much. He said they would send for another used part but, meanwhile one of the mechanics figured out a way to repair it without the issue of used parts. I had an excellent experience with Callaway's this week. I have an older car (a '97 Mustang to be exact), and am planning to get a new car next year. Needless to say, I don't want to invest too much in the current ride (as much as I love this car) in the way of repairs. Mainly I just want to keep it going until I can get something new. Anyway... So a few weeks ago I noticed that the a/c wasn't blowing as freezing cold as usual. Then last week I noticed it was just blowing cool-ish. Not good. Not in this weather. Backtracking to about a year and half ago, I was having some other work done at the Ford dealer and they told me they noticed a leak in the compressor and quoted me a price to fix it. OK, well I figured I'd deal with it whenever the a/c stops working. So a year and a half later, the a/c stopped blowing cold air. I really didn't want to take the car back to the Ford dealer, especially considering the price they quoted me. I decided to check another review site to find a good mechanic in the area and Callaway's had great reviews. I was hoping I could get by with just topping the a/c system with Freon (to be fair to Ford, I didn't ask them if this was something they would do). I went to the Callaway's web site and found a link to where you can request an appointment and filled it out. This was over the holiday weekend and I was requesting the Tuesday morning right after (I gave another day as 'plan B'). So someone there is on the ball with checking their online requests because early Tuesday morning I received an e-mail confirmation OK-ing the first date and time I had selected (actually I thought I would be getting a phone call for that; it was a fluke that I checked my e-mail again that morning so soon, but whatever). So I took the car in, explained the situation and left it there for them to take a look at. A couple hours later, they called back and said it would take two pounds of Freon to fill it up. The cost was around $80, so I said go ahead and they said it would be ready in about half an hour. When I picked the car up, I asked what a ballpark figure would be if they were to actually repair the leak. Their figure was a third of what the dealership quoted me (not sure if it would be for the same exact work, so I'm not sure if we're comparing apples to apples here, but still...). So now I have my baby back and it's blowing freezing cold air again. No telling how long it will last, but it beats the cost of fixing it. And if it leaks out again before I get the proverbial new car, we'll just top it up again. So, to summarize, I found Callaway's to be on the up-and-up. They could have told me the a/c had to be fixed and charged accordingly. But they were honest and gave me the 'band-aid' I was looking for (I did tell them I was hoping to be able to nurse it along til I get my new car). I hope this car doesn't need anything else before I offload it, but if it does, I will go back to Callaway's. Oh yea - I'll need an inspection soon... read more

The worst service I've encountered with automotive repair! Took my truck there for just a state inspection which takes 10 min tops... The guy at the front immediately told me he couldn't do it, said his inspection guy is running an errand and he closed in 30 min. Which clearly on the entrance door states they close at 6! It was 5 till 5pm... are you kidding me? I dont know who the guy was at the front desk, white/blonde hair and beard. But he clearly didn't understand the concept of customer service... Seemed like he was just ready to close up shop 30 min early. I Don't recommend this place to take your vehicle. This isn't the first time it has happened to me going there, and I live right around the corner. They lost a customer for life! read more

Don't know about the quality of their work... but stay away unless you want to pay an arm and a leg. Went in for a quote on brake repair and was told little less than 600 for new brake pads and have rotors resurfaced. This was considerably higher than the dealers quote. read more

Took my Nissan to Callaways. They recommended new motor mounts. Cost me $500.00 and didn't fix the problem. Another shop fixed it with by replacing a coil pack.($100.00). A few months went by and I took my Ford truck in with an oil leak. They said I had oil leaks at both valve covers and another place. Estimate: $900.00. In light of what happened with my Nissan I took it to Midas for a second opinion. They fixed my entire oil leak problem for $1.98, the cost of a new oil pan drain plug. I went back to Callaways and told them. They didn't believe me so I hadt hem put it on the rack and sure enough, no sign of a leak. Asked them to have the owner call me. They said he was dead. But I managed to get in touch with Mr. Callaway and he apologized and said he would look into it. Until I hear from him that he has resolved this way of doing business, I am warning everyone to stay away from this place. Thank you Midas. read more
