This place is down the street from me and I never knew! You can definitely smell the smoke in the air when you get close to the establishment! A long line but that's a good thing. It means the food must be good. Had an ok wait time. Now onto the food it was definitely good. The Mac was super flavorful and the greens were on point! But the chicken although packed with flavor was very very small. The smallest portion size of meat from all the barbecue spots around. It's unfortunate bc it was so dang good. That's the reason for the four star. I'll def be back to try more. As usual pics below.

Ordered the rib drip and my husband had the combo drip. Both were very good. It's a drive for me so I don't frequent as often but when I have it's been all good. I only gave 4 stars because the customer service wasn't the best. Need to be more welcoming!

Ordered thru Uber eats, was a little skeptical at first about having something like this delivered but I'm glad I took the chance! Got the ultimate drip which had fries smothered with cheese, smoked chicken, rib meat, and Buffalo fried chicken and a variety of sauces. It was amazing and it's a huge portion! I only finished a third of it before I was full. I also ordered a side of collard greens, I wasn't a fan of them. They were spicy but lacked any flavor outside of the spice. Look forward to trying other options on their menu!

Full Rib Drip. Enough for 2 or 3

This is a great BBQ spot! The meat is always fresh & smoked to perfection. My main meal are the thin end ribs with baked beans and collard greens. I find the mac & cheese to be overly salty, but well cooked and flavorful....aside from the salt ‍ The drip fries are EVERYTHING! Do Not Skip! I go back and forth between the chicken and rib drips. That said...skip the seafood trays. I ordered a crab tray, looked delicious, but its like they substituted cinnamon sugar for old bay. Something that should've been butter/garlicky/cajun was a sweet/garlicky mess. I had to rinse everything and coat in a proper seafood mix. Then the potatoes weren't cooked through and the corn was the tough texture and taste you get from the frozen cobs. Probably would've been cheaper and tastier to use fresh corn as this was over the summer. Don't take my seafood experience as a reason not to go. Its a bbq joint...its ok that the seafood sucks, because the bbq is to die for!

This place has yet to let me down. I have had the ribs and turkey wings. The tangy sauce ( mustard based) is my sauce of choice. Prefer the sweet tea over the lemonade. Have not tried the desserts. The restaurant is always clean and eating area is well maintained. This is bbq bbq if you know what I mean!

We tried this BBQ joint. It was off the beaten path for us, but all of our local friends gave it great reviews. We had rib sandwiches and a large order of Drip Fries with ribs. The portion on the sandwich and the fries was very generous. We loved the sandwiches they were good good. The Drip Fries were good just too much for us in a good way. Yummy!

I was looking to support a black owned business on Juneteenth and found this place through an Instagram recommendation. I was 1 saddened to know that it was just 6 minutes from my house for the last year and never even knew it was back there. I am so grateful to have found it because I will be a regular. My first experience was of course during covid so masks are required. You can call ahead or walk in and order then wait in you car for it to be brought out. They have specific hours now and because the food is good and hours are shortened some options may not be available later in the day. I had a taste for bbq so I had the rib dinner. It was so good! Both of the sides had so much flavor. My husband tried on of their famous "dip" dishes. He loved it and can't wait to try another. It's nachos or fries topped with select toppings and a meat choice. Messy but tasty my husband said. I will definitely be looking to try more dishes. Check them out if you're in the area.

Gas ! Hit the spot ! That blue pineapple is FIRE !!! Love this spot ! Support your local Ma n Pa shops !

Great BBQ, and extremely fresh. Best to order ahead if on Saturday they are very busy but accommodating with Covid. The famous drip fries are a must try, very delicious and homey.

I'm telling you, you ain't had any BBQ till you have eaten here. We just spent some time in Nashville looking for good BBQ and we were a little disappointed. This place is AMAZING.... It's in a small house just off the street.... Keep looking, it's there! Trust me you won't be sorry!!! The sausage is unbelievable. Trust me. I can't say enough. The sausage was amazing. Unsweetened tea was good, as well as potato salad and beans. Cons: the ribs were very large, tender and had a great smoke flavor but that's it. They were pretty fatty, although still had a decent amount of meat. But there was no real flavor to the meat other than the "smoke". The brisket was tender also but flavorless. I tried both sauces. Both taste very ketchup based with the Hot just being super spicy. I mixed the sausage and brisket together to eat so it would help the brisket. The location is great and in walking distance in Ybor, from the trolly or locals. Little house like place with two tvs on. One playing sports while the other was playing some Jerry Springer style lame drama, and was plenty loud for us to hear. Overall, very disappointed. The Smoker was going and gave us high hopes but lack of flavor made for a very dull meal.

9.26.2025 Yesssss!!…read moreI knew when I visited Tampa, I wanted to find a Black Owned Business !! BINGO!! I got it right the 1st time yall!! I located this business on Yelp (of course). I made a reservation, and went to Ybor to visit. It was easy to locate. I found inexpensive metered street parking. It was a short walk to the establishment. We arrived. We were immediately seated upon arrival. This place was a whole vibe! The best seating! Every section looked like VIP!! We were assisted by Jillianne who was professional, super sweet, and had all the details about the menu. Collectively, we ordered the following. Get Your Roll On (Jerk Chicken and more in an empanada) - Well plated, VERY tasty, fulfilling A la carte: Catfish & Braised Collard Greens - Seasoned amazingly, huge portion size, very good. The music was right on point!! We truly enjoyed ourselves. I'm so glad we visited this business. I highly recommend !!

Fair warning: this place has two personalities -- a restaurant side and a much louder dance-party side that share the same building. We opted for the restaurant side, which was surprisingly not busy despite the earliest reservation we could get being 7:30pm on a weeknight. The menu blends classic soul food (fried chicken, mac and cheese) with a strong New Orleans Creole influence -- gumbo, jambalaya, fried seafood, cornbread. Portions are enormous. We started with the deviled eggs ("D'Evils"), topped with fried chicken bites and lemon pepper dust -- excellent and surprisingly filling for just four halves. We also got the Nolia Clip, a vegan gumbo base loaded with fried shrimp, crabmeat, turkey sausage, and a full catfish filet -- essentially an entree-sized bowl on its own. For entrees, the fried chicken plate ("Let's Stay Together") was a standout -- moist chicken, crispy crust, great mac and cheese and collard greens, though the cornbread muffins were bland and watery-tasting. My jambalaya ("Burning Blues") turned out to be nearly identical in ingredients to the gumbo appetizer we'd already had, just a bit thicker and in a bigger portion -- worth knowing before you order both. We left with a full meal's worth of leftovers and zero room for dessert. Food quality was great across the board (minus the cornbread), and portions are a serious value. Service was the weak point -- slow to seat and slow table-side all night. Good pick if you're after soul food with Creole flair and don't mind a leisurely pace.

The rest of the staff did great clearing our plates and came through more frequently (food came out fast). We were one of four tables they weren't very busy. The food was AMAZING! I love that the Jerk Chicken dish was basically a sampler dish and we split it between two of us just perfect. Also if someone comes around to take your photo kindly decline unless you want an awkward experience about 10 minutes later when they come around to try and sell them to you at $30 per image! Honestly we thought it was just for social media. Again the food was good enough to look around all those things so I couldn't give less stars because to me the food spoke for the restaurant.

The owner greeted us at the door, it was fairly empty so there was no wait and we were seated right away. The ambiance is nice. It does look like you've stepped into the VIP area of a restaurant, so it was cute -- not fancy, but cute. The owner then told us about the restaurant being inspired by his mother, they've been around for 10 years, explained the menu etc., it was nice. He also told us that he hadn't been to Jamaica since a kid and that raised an eyebrow -- but we let it go because he wasn't the cook. MIND YOU, I brought my cousin here (who is Jamaican) after seeing decent reviews about it. He brought over our first round of drinks and they were really good. We really enjoyed them. They weren't strong at all, tasted like juice. So I would recommend just getting juice instead of the +$5 to add rum. As we began to order and look at the menu, the prices were really HIGH, but I guess he was going for upscale cuisine -- so we said OK, let's see what this entails. We all ordered the Taste of the Island plater that gave an oxtail, curry goat and jerk chicken, rice and peas, plaintains and a tiny side salad. I wasn't mad at the portions given, but the flavor didn't hit the mark at all. NOW LETS GET INTO THE FOOD The Jerk Chicken was OVERLY spicy; we couldn't even enjoy the flavor. The oxtails were fatty, sweet and BLACK. Not enjoyable at all. The goat was OK, but not very flavorful in my opinion. The beef patties were good, but probably out of a box. The Roti was good and the oxtail dipping sauce was good. The Honey BBQ Wings were pretty good and cooked well. The Mac'n'Cheese -- DO NOT GET THIS. It literally has NO taste and reminded me of the cup mac'n'cheese that you put the powder cheese in. It took so long to bring it out, I guess he kept forgetting about it (they said everything is made to order) -- which, IDK how you make mac'n'cheese to order. Real cooks know, Mac n cheese is NOT a 5-minute made to order meal. He also didn't ask how we enjoyed the meal -- which I felt like he knew what we knew when he saw that not only did the other table leave a plate full of food (the meats) but our plates resembled the same -- he still collected his coin. There is a 20% gratuity that is added on at the end that is ridiculous considering the prices are already so expensive -- MIND YOU, it is not "Elevate Cuisine", its basic Jamaican dishes on Ikea plates. No special plating, no unique sauces or display, no chef's plating or anything. Just a plate of food. Everyone's bill came in over $100. The table nearby us order the same thing and inquired whether or not we liked our food, but we'd just gotten our food and hadn't tried it yet -- we did warn them about the chicken being spicy, but not everything else. They came after us and left before us and left everything on the plate except the rice and peas. I love black owned businesses and I wish this much more success, but I would NOT recommend it to anyone that is looking for authentic Jamaican food.
