It was tasty as is but I added extra pico and salsa verde to mine, which was lovely. Their wings were nice too. If you like them saucy, ask for extra sauce on the side. My first restaurant ever in Birmingham Alabama stopped here for lunch. Had a chicken leg and thigh and beans... Beans were great... Got the regular barbecue sauce for the chicken it was kinda like open pit out of the grocery store .... I like dark meat because it's supposed to be moist. The rich, smoky aroma hits you right away and sets high expectations that they absolutely deliver on. Ordering at the counter was quick and convenient, and the outdoor seating on a cool evening created a relaxed, enjoyable atmosphere. Our food came out fairly quickly, which is always a great sign, especially when the aroma is making you even more hungry. Everything felt clean and well-kept, including the bathrooms, which is always a reassuring sign. I ordered the brisket burger with seasoned fries, along with a side of collard greens and cornbread. The only problem with this place is the location. I absolutely love this place.. The food, the service and atmosphere is terrific. But here it is located near my favorite chicken place and may favorite smashburger place so I have to make a difficult choice every time I am in the area. Today it was BBQ and I got a rib sandwich. Not so much a sandwich, sandwich, but the best ribs ever on a piece of white bread with some slaw like nothing I have ever had before. I could eat the slaw by the bucket and the fries were fresh and very good too. I am a woodworker and enjoyed the varied tables and that they had identification plates. The place is neat as a pin and the staff is super friendly and helpful. One the way out I was looking throughthe glass doors at the smokers and the manager welcomed me in and explained how they work. You can telll this place was a major investment and for just being open a very few months you can tell they will be a big player on the BBQ scene. This was a take on French-Canadian poutine with fries layered with brisket, gravy and cheese. I would have preferred a little more gravy. The brisket was tender and delicious and may be the best brisket in town. Fries were hot and crispy. Smoked chicken was good but not special. When we got in the staff was friendly and helped with decisions on what to eat. I got the ribs and a salad and my husband got the Bbq burger with fries. There is a bar inside which takes up a lot of space however it's room outside to sit and eat. They food comes out fast which is a plus. Everything was amazing especially the ribs! Hands down the best smoked BBQ turkey in town! My wife had the bbq pork, which she really enjoyed. I'm not usually a pork guy either, but I tried hers as well and it was really good--lean, yet juicy and not dried out. Their regular and white bbq sauces are both phenomenal. Honestly, their regular bbq sauce is definitely something to write home about. Baked beans and fries were pretty perfect too! Their special side of the week was mac & cheese, which immediately had me saying "this might be the best in town too" after one bite. We were too caught up with the food to remember to take pics of it, but definitely a place we'll come back for As random as it is, the tables are really cool. Only reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because the brisket was dry but still packed with flavor the pulled pork was tender and salty without being overpowering and had an excellent smokiness the mac and cheese was a little gritty but packed with flavor and savory (might need to use freshly grated cheese) I've never had salad in a cup before but it makes sense the dressing was able to coat all of it evenly and the bacon bits being actual bacon was a great touch. Customer service was phenomenal great people to be around felt like you were visited your family that you haven't seen in a while. I got the pork taco and the rib sandwich when I stopped by. The pork was juicy and nicely flavored but a bit spicy in my opinion. I wasn't really sure what I was expecting with it but it definitely had a salsa/Mexican flare to it since it was a taco. The ribs were just on a piece of white bread. I feel like it wasn't really necessary, just get rid of the bread or make it an actual sandwich (take the meat off the bone). It just felt weird eating a slice of bread. The sauce was more savory than sweet but the ribs were melt in your mouth delicious. I love when ribs just fall off the bone/into your mouth and that is exactly what they did. Baked beans are solid, and the fries are very good. Ribs were good, even better when more sauce was added to them. Coleslaw was what you would expect. The decor provides just the right balance between county cafe and urban ambiance. I got the 6 wings and Brisket and gravy which is brisket and gravy served over French fries.
