I can see Burnt Mills being a place I visit at least once a month. As long as the weather is nice you can hang out here all day. Find a parking and head on in. Go early if you want a table - if not I'd suggest bringing your own chair or a blanket to sprawl out on. We went on a 60 degree day and while it was a little chilly it was still very nice. If you can grab a spot by a fire pit - you're golden. They have some cornhole and other games outside. It's very family friendly and also doggo friendly! They are nothing if not efficient here. There's always someone coming around to collect empty glasses and ordering flights or a glass is super easy. They also have merch for purchase and a brewery passport! There's a ton around the area. As far as food - you can bring anything you'd like and they also have rotating food trucks every week. I'd check out their Instagram and give them a try. All the ciders were exceptional in their own way. My favorite was the seasonal flavor - the general George. A blend of cream and cherry - super delicious. A fun way to spend a Sunday! There are no reservations and open seating so come early if you want a spot under the shade or a table. Otherwise, you can bring whatever blanket and chairs to set up for the day. They have so many hard cider options and the fall seasonal ones are the best. My favorite right now is the apple cider donut flavor. The staff is super friendly and helpful with helping you find the right cider for you! I would just recommend bringing your own food/snacks. So this is the first time that i've been to this place. I've been to alot a lot of cider bars before And they're all usually pretty good. But this place was unexpected. The cider was so good that we got multiple flights containing the same ciders. I'm telling you ,some were just that good. The staff was pretty friendly even though it was a packed house and you had to speak up to make your order. We had to sit out side because the inside was a little full but it was a nice night. There are outdoor benches, but if it's crummy weather, you have to try to hope you can score a seat indoors. The cider, building and staff get 5 stars. Issues: 1: they don't have enough parking for the crowds they bring on weekends. Leading to dangerous parking situations 2: they allow dogs which sounds nice, but it's large amounts of untrained dogs constantly barking and pooping. People do not pick up after their dogs and it stinks like dog poop while you sit outside to enjoy food and drink. 3. There are huge amounts of children, to the point where they outnumber the adults. They are screaming, running around, moving peoples items and makes the experience not fun. I'm not sure why establishments that have a main service of selling alcohol allow so many young children. Had a great Sunday Cider flight with my sister and her boyfriend before heading back to Delaware. The service inside was quick with three bartenders ready to take your cider order whether it be a glass of delicious tart Rose flavor or a flight of their many concoctions. They had a food truck there that is there every Sunday with them serving some delicious freshly prepared bites though grab a drink while you wait to order and wait for your food. I will for sure be back when they bring back their bourbon inspired cider but my sister enjoyed a tropical, mojito and other ciders while I opted for the traditional menu that was available that day. Lastly there was a ginger soda that was brewed there for our driver. The hard part is the bathroom with two gender neutral bathrooms that can quickly form a line in the tasting room. I really love this place. Beautiful setup. Great cider over a pretty good range of styles all of which I enjoyed - at least I think I have tried most of them by now! They do not have their own trees so might work in their favor for a small place looking to make a big selection and experience. It has become a bit of a phenomenon over the past several years. Maybe it is the ability to be outside, maybe it is the way the location is so friendly to be around. In any case, if you are passing something on US-206 and wondering what all of these people are doing, well, you might be passing this place. That does bring somewhat of a downside to the location. At times in the past parking could be a challenge to the point where I would not venture there. The two times I have been here were for private events. Assuming the weather stays in your favor, this is an amazing event place! This kind of brings the other downside to the place. It is BYOF. Yes, they have the cider, but you need to bring your own food. For the private events, food trucks made the day (well, evening) and the ability to sit on a cool fall night near one of the several fire pits was magical. If you like ciders more on the dry side, the Jersey Blue (blueberry) and Pineapple Express are good options. For those on the sweeter side, I like the Fall Spice (tastes like apple pie?) and Semi Dry. They always seem to be sold out of the rosé when I go but this one comes highly recommended as well. My wife, daughter, and I recently had two disparate experiences at Burnt Mills Cider in Bedminster, Somerset County. Our first trip was enjoyable, encouraging us to plan another visit. As residents of Somerset County, we wanted to support our local businesses. We left home in Montgomery Township around 5:15 PM on a workday this time, driving north for an hour to reach the cidery around 6:15 PM. Our goal? To sip cider and munch on goodies from the Veganish food truck. But, as life often reminds us, things don't always go according to plan. Upon arrival, we faced our first challenge: a packed, dimly lit, unpaved, and uneven parking area. It took a lot of work to navigate the potholes and bumps in the parking lot to find parking. We found a parking spot near the entrance, far from the tap room. Armed with our iPhones as torches, we reached the taproom. We got to the taproom and realised there was no food truck. I understand this isn't Burnt Mills Cidery's fault, but they must work with reliable food truck vendors. We thought about ordering delivery from one of the nearby restaurants, but we expected it would be at least a 30-minute wait, and we were hungry. Inside, the small tap room was packed. We could hardly hear ourselves discussing what to do next. We had just driven almost an hour, and based on how filled the small tap room looked, we expected a poor experience. We did not relish the experience of standing around drinking while shouting over the din. The outdoor space was available. It was cold outside, even with winter coats. Sitting outside drinking cider while inhaling smoke from a firepit was not the experience we wanted. Inside, the tiny taproom was buzzing with people, making it hard to think, let alone chat. Faced with the prospect of a less-than-appealing experience, we made a call. Instead of braving the crowded space or the cold outdoors next to a smoky firepit, we decided to head to Flounder Brewing, grabbing pizza en route. It was a great decision - Flounder's spacious taproom and heated outdoor area offered a comfortable and relaxing evening. But we weren't ready to give up on Burnt Mills Cider yet! Determined to give the cidery a chance, we planned a daytime visit. We pre-ordered pizza from Bedminster Pizza this time and arrived early on a Saturday. What a difference! The welcoming staff clustered behind the small taproom. As we ate pizza, we explored a variety of cider flavours. My wife and daughter each enjoyed a flight: my daughter's included Fall Spice, Blackcurrant, Cider Donut, and The Hunt, while my wife's featured Fall Spice, Jersey Peach, Cider Donut, and The Hunt. My picks? I enjoyed half pours of the "Semi-Dry" and "Hops." I was disappointed that the "Sparkling Dry" was, so I had a half-pour of Blackcurrant. My daughter was delighted by the "Cider Donut" cider, which she said tasted like cider doughnuts. The jam-like qualities of the Black Currant were a shared favourite. We ended our visit just as the crowd began to get larger, bringing home cans of "Semi-Dry," "Hops," and "Black Currant." My problem with Burnt Mills Cider is that the tap room needs to be bigger to accommodate the number of people arriving in the cars that fill the large parking area. To a first-time visitor, the parking area suggests a large tap room. Once the tap room gets packed, ordering cider becomes problematic. Dog friendly and a beautiful area. What more could you want? I came on a Sunday in October and lucked out with parking but it was busy. They had a pierogi truck outside for food. No food inside but you can order or bring your own. This place is small and can get PACKED on weekends so be warned. You can bring your own chairs though which is a huge perk. Big outdoor area with fire pits, connect four, tables, etc. Outdoor bar for individual drinks. Tastings and flights are ordered inside but can go outside. They were out of a few popular seasonal flavors of cider which was a bummer but it's all about demand. Bummed I couldn't try the apple cider donut cider but next time hopefully. The regular dry cider was fantastic. It was crisp and refreshing. It could almost pass for sparkling wine. The Hunt, a cranberry chai cider, was very unique and seasonal. Maybe not for everyone's tastes but fun. Sour cherry was my favorite. It was refreshing and balanced, not tart but not sweet. The fall seasonal apple cider (I forget the name) tasted like Christmas in a glass. It was very strong on the clove spice so it didn't taste so much like a fall drink. In the fall, this place has lines that stretch well onto the highway so I avoided the peak season and instead visited late winter. We were the first ones there - I always feel a little awkward being the first one to open a bar. It's like - do I have a problem? Nope just thirsty after some snow hiking. Yeah. That's it. Thirsty. :| Anyway, the bartenders were reasonably friendly but kind of absorbed in their own conversation. It would have been awesome to get a rundown of the place - like what their latest brews were, anything they were featuring, maybe even a personal description of what we like/the ones we chose. That said, the drink menu was pretty thorough and tasted exactly like the descriptions. So no handholding necessary. Basically I love cider and was looking forward to taking something home. I didn't see what I wanted in the cooler and the overall lack of engagement didn't make me feel motivated to ask or follow up. Missed opportunity on both sides I'd say. The outdoor area when we visited was a little muddy which isn't the best for sitting outside (especially with dogs or kids). I've been on the weekend in the fall when it was absolutely packed (15 min line for two single bathrooms, hard to find parking, bring a blanket to sit on the ground kind of feel). There's a small indoor area with AC to sit in as well but usually it's too crowded to find a place. During this weekend in July, it was much less crowded and more relaxing for sure. read more

Burnt Mills Cider Company is located on top of a huge hill right off 206 North in Bedminster. Burnt Mills gets its name from a reference to a section of town with an impressive bit of Revolutionary-era history. They drew a connection with the local area and with their state's long history of cider making. As I drove up you can see a huge parking lot. Rows and rows of cars. You will definitely have to do some walking.This place gets very busy on weekends especially in the summertime. They have some outdoor seating with picnic tables surrounded by a fire pit.The outdoor space is open Spring through Fall. You can also bring your own blankets and chairs. It's a great place to have an adult birthday party or get together. During the day I saw children playing outside. You can play corn hole, make s'mores or just take in some sun. Dogs are allowed. Burnt Mills doesn't serve food. They do have a Food Truck that comes on site. You can also order food from a local restaurant and have it delivered, or bring in your own food. You can not bring in your own alcohol. They have a small outdoor bar. You can also go inside to their 1000 square ft tasting room. They have a larger bar, televisions and communal tables. They sell Flagship cans of cider to take home and they sell Branded Merch. They have Specialty Ciders on Tap. The ciders are seasonal. There's some that are year round. Burnt Mills has Oak Walls that were made on the premises using the wood from trees that were harvested during construction. I had two bartenders. The first was Matt. He was very happy and explained the different ciders. My other bartender was Tory. She and Matt worked together to help expedite the line. My favorite cider was Blackcurrant ABV 5.5%. It's made with Fresh New Jersey Blackberries and oh so good. My next favorite cider was Sour Cherry Cider. ABV 5.5%. It's made with montmorency and balaton cherries, this cider is a little tart with balancing sweetness on the finish. I also tried their Pineapple Express Cider- ABV 5.5%. A dry cider with just a touch of sweetness from organic pineapple juice. Next I tried Ginger Cider ABV 5.5%. Made with organic ginger juice. This cider has kick! Then onto Jersey Peach Cider ABV 5.5%. Hazy and unfiltered, with a hint of almonds, and made with fresh peaches from nearby Melick's Farm. Last but not least the seasonal Jersey Blue Cider. It's made with fresh blueberries. It was nice to get their samplers . This way I could taste several different ciders. Burnt Mills has really taken cider to another level. Cute spot to stop in if you're in the area. We went on a Friday afternoon since we were down the road apple picking at Riamede Farms. We driven by this place so many times and finally had some time to stop in. They did not have any "sweet" cider options when we went - most were on the drier side. Still enjoyable if you like that stuff. They do not sell food but they had a pizza food truck on the grounds that day. Unfortunately we did not get a chance to try that because we had a late lunch and didn't have room for it. We were only there for about 30 minutes and the time we left there were so many more cars and people were having a hard time finding parking. I can tell it does get really packed. We got there at 3:55pm and they technically open at 4 but we were able to still go right in and order our drinks. There were people who came even before us and were saving all of the picnic tables near the building for their party that wasn't there yet so we had to venture out a bit more to find a table available. I suggest bringing your own chairs or a picnic blanket to sit on the grass. I don't know yet if I would make a repeat visit but think it's worth a try if you're in the area. All in all it was an ok experience, service was ok and the place was clean. As for those who are interested to know, I recall that a lot of the bartenders did not wear their masks when we ordered our drinks but we also go there super early and do not know what their policy is there. This was my first time coming here after hearing many good things about Burnt Mills. I was so excited to try their hard cider and loved every moment of my experience! If you're new to cider like me, the $10 flights are the BEST way to go -- you can test 4 flavors of hard cider. I tried the Dry Sparkling, Hops, Pineapple, and Rose. The bar staff were super friendly and quick. They even set the flavors on the flight board from dry to sweet. My absolute favorite was the Hops, it was the perfect mix of sweet and fruity, but also a bit sour. The Pineapple was also delicious. The Dry Sparkling tasted similar to champagne. The Semi Dry tasted like a mix of champagne and juice and was very easy to drink -- a safe choice if you're not sure what you like! I ended up taking home a 4 pack of the Hops ($14) because it was so good!
