A lovely coffeeshop in Gastown, Vancouver. Gastown itself remained the looks of the old town, and this adorable coffeeshop fits well in this town. The shape of this place is like a triangle. Windows/doors at both sides of triangle. The barista counter is the bottom side of the triangle. Ok enough of geometry...the barista is wonderful, helpful and sweet. We had a cup of matcha latte and Spanish latte, both with oat milk. They were served in the beautiful cups with lovely art latte. The lattes were heavenly. This was a super cool coffee spot in Gastown. I was in Gastown quite early in the morning (be weary of your surroundings FYI), and this spot was open early. I also was recommended to go here by a friend and glad I tried it out. I ordered a matcha latte and also had a croissant. The latte was prepared very authentically and was not overly sweet. I also got it made with non fat milk. I appreciated how customizable this cafe allowed you to be for your drinks. Having spent a lot of time in Montreal this summer, I was reluctant to believe any place would have croissants as good as in the east - but Buro really impressed. The croissant was so buttery and flaky - absolutely delicious! The ambience here is very aesthetic. There's one indie tunes playing in the back and the seating and tables are quite nice. I love the staff -- they are so friendly. Drinks are okay. I had the oat milk latte (they also have other non-dairy options include soy and almond) which tasted a little weird, but that might be because of the milk option? Their iced americano is pretty standard. They do have pretty a lot of seating so it makes social distancing easy within the cafe. Great spot for people watching and getting some work done, but drinks are just so-so. The baristas make up for it though! read more

A quiet place to read and enjoy a cappuccino on a mild Canadian summer. I truly enjoyed my time in Buro when I went up to Vancouver for last year's 150th anniversary. I enjoyed the cafe so much I went twice on my three day trip (a cappuccino for lunch and another for dinner). The minimalist vibe mixed in with the greenery and wide windows make Buro an appealing place. Coffee is coffee, but they pulled the right shot on my cup. This is an upscale little coffee shop in Gastown. I decided to stop in for a little caffeine boost and some WI-FI! The barista was very friendly and helpful. I decided to get a cappuccino to stay and was considering getting a baked good, but they all were pretty pricey and seemed on the crunchier side (I'm a fan of the chewy baked items!). Anyways, I put in my order and settled in on the couch which had a little table. My drink came out speedily and tasted great-- strong espresso, just what I needed. It was a tad bitter, but I didn't really mind it. Definitely needed a dash of sugar though. I enjoyed sipping my drink while catching up on my texts and messages on the WI-FI, which worked very well. Overall, a great place for a quick rest as you're exploring Gastown. Pro Tip: Be sure to stop by the Steam Clock which is just down the street from this place, watch the Steam Clock go off every 15 minutes, it plays a little song :) read more

Several weeks ago I visited this place. It is attractive with nice selections...that is where it ends. Service was an abomination. A mistake was made in my small single coffee order. When I went back to the counter they refused to give me a new cup. Head barista, would not give me her name, she has an accent and seems from the Middle East, refused to take care. She argued that the order was my fault, not hers, and, angrily, "Who's going to pay for it?!!" She refused a new cup of coffee. I finished and walked out. Do not waste your $$ in this place. Additionally, the day it happened, I did a Google review. Neither the owner, nor senior management, ever replied through Google to allay my anger. THAT speaks volumes. read more

We visited twice over the course of three days. I'm not entirely sure what all the bad reviews are about, but for our experiences, it was fine. Granted, we went in for coffee only - no food, no need for WiFi access or a comfy chair. We just wanted an escape from the cold and rain, and a chance to sip on something warm and delicious. And Buro offered all that. Buro also introduced us to a Spanish Latte, which quickly became something we craved. The girls working the days we went weren't overly friendly, but they were quick to make our drinks, and even remade my husband's drink when they realized that the one they were trying to hand to him wasn't made right (something about the milk/coffee ratio, if I remember correctly). The drinks were delicious, and we were able to lounge about for a bit while sipping. Nice clean cafe located in Gastown. Really nice interior and perfect place for people watching. This cafe grabbed our attention on a rainy afternoon so besty and I decided to go here. You can sit by the walls to read (saw a small lamp next to it) or do some people watching through the window. Coffee menu is similar to Caffe Artigiano and 49th Pararell, however Buro Cafe also sells Iced Coffee Float and Affogato($7 range). Forgot to include that Cortado (Espresso Macchiato according to what barista said) and Matcha latte are included in the coffee menu. My besty got Cappuccino ($3.50) and I ordered Spanish Latte($4.25) which is my favourite and they were just okay. Besty said her coffee was too sour and I found my drink too sweet. To be honest I used to love this place but last time my boyfriend & I went to Buro Coffee and he jest hugged me for like idk 15 mins and then when we decided to get up & order the impolite barista told us u guys should leave! He told us in impolite way & without any reason! Even he didn't tell us what's wrong with us!!! Is it Islamic Country or what??? Ideally I'd like to give this place a 3.5 star rating, but I'll round up. This coffee shop is small but feels bigger than it actually is, due to the floor-to-ceiling windows on the two main sides of this triangular-shaped place. As such, there's a lot of light, and it's a great place to park oneself by one of these window-walls and just people watch. The coffees we had were great! We ordered London Fogs and they were delicious. I found the prices to be on a par with all the other coffee shops we've been to in the city. The baristas were friendly to us and our drinks were made promptly. The reason I downgraded my rating was due to the bathroom cleanliness (or lack thereof). I always take note of the state of a place's restroom. The one here was dingy and dirty. I realize they can't control how customers leave the bathroom, but perhaps they can check in more regularly and tidy it up as needed? Is it appropriate to give coffee shops 5 stars? I don't tell people that I know how to drink coffee because I think there's a complex art behind the tasting of it and knowing how to differentiate between beans and such... Anyways, what I'm really trying to say is that I've been to 3 coffee shop/cafes in the past 4 days. Usually my coffee consists of either Starbucks or the brew at work so no idea what to expect when I came in here. Surprisingly, there were already a few people here already enjoying their drinks when I arrived at 7:35am. Got the infamous Spanish latte as seen by Yelpers and it did not disappoint! Didn't know what to expect since I've never tried it before but it has strong "coffee" nodes from the espresso but it is also quite sweet from the condensed milk. Great mixture of bitter meets sweet. Now the hard part is pushing cravings for this aside because it's only been a few days and I already want another cup! Ps. Don't underestimate their tiny tables located around the edge of the place. It was surprisingly big enough to fit all my stuff (ie. A notebook, a box of pens, my phone and my coffee). Everything got table space and was not hanging over the edge (as I had expected it to). Another great addition to the already bustling gastown coffee scene. It's situated at the tip of the triangle at the intersection of Water St and Cordova. The place has one long communal table and smaller tables against the windows. Natural lighting is plentiful. All coffee/espresso drinks are served using 49th Parallel beans. So you can expect the same taste/quality as Prado/49th Parallel/the coffee bar. I must say their to-go cups are pretty cool - black and gold with a 3d wavy texture. We were stumbling back from a super heavy brunch at the belgard kitchen and stumbled upon this lil spot! Light and airy space with large windows and modern but comfy seating it seemed fairly tempting , I walked in desperate for some caffeine to wake my mimosa addled mind and was intrigued by the Spanish latte... Double shots on condensed milk and then some steamed milk..hmmm ...I added a third shot of espresso for good measure.. the whole thing cost me a little under 6$ for a small/ regular...I think it's a little under 5$ for without the extra shot.. The Spanish latte is a great discovery and I may be going back for more on my next cheat day... Sturdy coffee with just the right amount of sweetness... And satisfying indeed ! The only downside was a single bathroom...common to all...not too well lit..and it smelled...:( Which is not cool to be happening by 2:30 pm , if at all ) if they can up their housekeeping game... I love the staff here and best of all, they have unbelievably delicious parties the size of my face.. (okay just the peanut butter cookie) but they're all so delicious! Another great coffee shop in the heart of Gastown. If you're a frequent visitor of Gastown, you've either already been here or you've walked by Buro numerous times - because it's pretty hard to miss! They've got all your coffee and tea needs, plus assorted pastries and some breakfast wraps. As of recently I've taken a serious fancy to London Fogs w/ almond milk, and that's all I've been getting. I've tried Buro Coffee in the past and it was quite delicious. On my most recent visits, I've gone with a London Fog. Their wifi isn't the best, but it'll get you by if you're just responding to emails and doing basic work. If you're planning on taking video calls from here, prepare for it to lag. Just speaking from experience. The coffee shop itself is fairly big. The place is shaped like a triangle, since it sits at the tip/end of one of the heritage buildings, which makes it feel a little bit bigger. In my opinion at least. There are plenty of tables and chairs for you to make yourself cozy in. And they also have plenty of comfy booths, which you can snag if you get there early enough. Great spot to get some work done or kill some time if you're meeting someone in the area. Central, convenient and close to bus stations and waterfront station. Water Street's latest cafe addition to the historic Vancouver neighbourhood, Buro Coffee, is already bustling with customers thanks to its central location. Located on such a busy corner and unique intersection, Buro feels like a fancier, more upscale Gastown version of Gene Cafe. Most of the menu offers the standard fare, but I had to order the iced coffee float (with cold coffee and caramel pecan ice cream) after it caught my eye for its rich, decadent sounding taste. It was a sweet treat and sugar rush packed with coffee, caramel, and chocolate flavours. It's probably not something you'd want to drink too often. Brewing 49th Parallel coffee, Buro offers the familiar blend of espresso drinks. Their Americano was serviceable and of the usual 49th quality. As for the sweets, I enjoyed the thick but not too chocolatey brownie in brick form. Their chocolate croissant was also adequately satisfying. Buro fits right in its Gastown location as the cafe both reflects and complements the makeup of the neighbourhood as it offers a nice caffeinated setting for coffee drinkers and passersby alike. read more

A great place for studying with a cup of excellent coffee! Located at a intersection, the spacious interior of the cafe has fabulous lighting with almost all of the walls covered in windows. During our visits there, which were fortunately both bright sunny days, we really enjoyed drinking their excellent Spanish lattes (a must-try if you go there) and basking in the sun. It is also great that they have dairy alternatives such as soy milk, almond milk, and the new oat milk. I've tried the Spanish latte with oat milk and matcha latte with soy milk and they were both amazing, even the coffee arts are great too! Studying there is a great option too as it is not noisy. Came here with my bf on a Saturday afternoon. Very modern and cute cafe with lots of space. My bf and I wanted to have their drip coffee but we were told that they only served it during the weekdays. It was quite odd to hear that because on their drink menu, it says in brackets "served until noon" right beside the drip coffee. It was fine because it was literally minutes passed noon but the fact that the staff said something completely different to whats on the menu was quite misleading. Nonetheless, we both ended up getting an americano which was quite steep for a large but it was one of the cheapest thing on their menu besides their drip coffee. Spinach + Feta Bun - This was quite disappointing. We asked for it warmed up hoping it would of been very good but it wasn't. We thought it was made of a flaky pastry but it was just made of bread so it was quite dry. It also didn't help that on the inside, there was very little spinach and feta filling to help with the dryness and to give it more flavor. (2.5/5) Apple Croissant - This was slightly better than the Spinach + Feta Bun but it didn't woo me. The pastry was flaky and crispy but I had better. The apple filling was alright because it was more tart than sweet and it lacked those certain spices to make it more tasty. Also, there was very little filing as well. (3/5) Overall, staff was okay but not that friendly. Pastries were a huge disappointment and things were over priced. I know it is located in Gastown so what do I expect but we had so much better pastries in Gastown that were worth paying for. So it's obvious that my bf and I won't be coming back. read more

First of all, I always go to the Buro on Robson and I love it there BUT the Buro at Water street is HORRIBLE customer service! They was extremely rude and not being considerate at all. I order the exact thing every single time and it should be diffrent. there was way too much milk in my drink and not even sweet and my friends drink was all burnt. They refused to remake it or have us a refund! They lacked their customer service was not okay. read more

I ordered a de-cafe Americano which was great but small for a mug size (but this is in the touristy area of Vancouver). The staff were professional, friendly and attentive. Great to see that they measured there coffee using scales! The purpose of my visit was to do some freelance work. There is great range of seating and a lovely long table in the middle. The seats are comfortable enough to sit and work in for a few hours. For sound, there is a nice hum of noise but it is not overwhelming. Plus at the time they were not playing Christmas music! Hooray! The one big let down was that the free wifi was terrible and not consistent. This may be on purpose and it actually may be a good thing for some ppl to help them focus but it was really frustrating as my work involves the internet. For food, they did have plenty of vegan treats (and labeled too) from more healthy seed type bars right up to sweet chocolate chip cookies! You never forget what you wore the one and only time someone falsely calls you pregnant. Me, in a form fitted, double breasted sweater and jeans, had just arrived at a coffee shop and was waiting to use the washroom before meeting my friend for tea. Two women stood in front of me, also in line. A male staff member emerges from the "Employees Only" door to inform us that the washroom is reserved for paying customers only. If we want to use the washroom, you'll have to buy something first. The women ahead of me leave. (I'm not sure, maybe they obeyed orders and went to buy something). I say to him, "I'm meeting a friend here for coffee and just want to use the washroom first. Is that okay?" He responds, "Some people butt the line, and don't buy anything. But I guess you can, since you're pregnant." I had no words. Just the hot face flush that accompanies pure embarrassment. I am not pregnant. I feel like I've just been fat shamed, at a time when I've never been more fit in my life. To add insult to injury, it happened in tandem with being treated like a second class citizen, like some kind of criminal "stealing" bathroom time. All I could utter was "Wow." Did he just say that? Not knowing what to do, I walked outside and texted my friend. She was already sitting inside, so I had to walk back in. Telling her what had just happened, she looked just as stunned. I said that we needed to leave. There's no way I could stay, nor would I ever support a place that treated it's customers, paid or not, with such arrogance, rudeness and crass. The employee had the nerve to wave as we left. A condescending, queen like wave that made my blood boil. I am beyond furious. I suggested this as the meeting because I had been here previously. The lighting was excellent, the mugs and tea cups enveloped in gold, nice touch. All in, a conducive setting for a work meeting. Sure, you were crusty and unpleasant, and borderline rude the first time I came here a couple of Sunday's ago, but it wasn't personal. I had wanted to try this funky looking place in gastown for some time and got to last night (instead if going to my go to jj bean at 6:45pm on a Sunday as it was closed)... My soy Americano misto tasted a little different, but I just chalked that up to a new place... Unfortunately I found out the real reason why within the hour when I had severe cramps that lasted for 2 hours. I'm lactose intolerant and they had given my cows milk instead of soy:(. When I called to let them know today, they just said maybe I grabbed the wrong drink. Considering I was the only one ordering at that time, it's highly unlikely. I won't be back. read more

It is a good place to meet someone and chat. Coffee wise I would say it is similar to all the independent coffee shops close to it, all of them are really good.
