    Outside of coffee shop~

Came here for a coffee with a friend. Parking here is nonexistent unless you count the metered parking. Or if you're lucky you might find a spot or two on Alberni. This location does seem a *bit* run down, but you probably wouldn't care. What was curious is that all of the staff were Japanese with heavy accents. I had trouble understanding some of them. Interestingly enough, this place is next to Shenanigans, which is known as an ESL hangout. Hmm.. The coffee I had tasted like coffee, which is good.

    is this poster still there?

Hmmm. Vancouver's sbux. haaa. i remember hanging out here when i was up there... crap. ten years ago. The people were really nice and everything. I pondered here with my buddies... if we call certain type of ham in u.s., canadian bacon... and we order canadian bacon, will they give us ham? or bacon??? the mind working in overdrive over simple issues makes the simple-est decision a complex algebraic issue of irrelevant massive proportions! hence when u come here, don't be so crazy with the venti, dopyo blah blah crap. large coffee haaa. someone remind me, is it okay to smoke outside? i did anyways, often do here in Cali and wait for a worker to don't smoke unless there's little children around. this coffee shop... due to my pleasantries in hongcouver will always have a special place in my heart. aww. =D

    What a cute cup!

Good stuff. CUTE cups! London Fog was great. I can see why this chain is a big thing up here! I liked it more than Starbucks!

Just an out-of-towner looking for a new coffee spot. I love the natural sunlight this place provides, but just a tad too busy (and loud), to enjoy a relaxing break from the hustle and bustle of downtown. But if you are doing an interview and you don't want anyone to listen in on your question & answers, then this is probably the ideal place to go! Nonetheless, I had an enjoyable experience.

I have tried their Maple Latte Macchiato, asked for a little less sweet one they put half of the syrup and it was the best Latte I have ever had so far! The location is perfect and the staff is nice and friendly.

Their coffee is ok, if you like medium roast. They don't have a dark roast. Food was decent but not overly satisfying.

We ordered the following: Tiramisu Latte Caprese Bite London Fog Apple Cookie Cherry Matcha Tonic Tiramisu Sea Salt Caramel Gelato The Cherry Matcha Tonic was pretty but wasn't too crazy about the flavor. I should have just gone with my original gut instinct and chosen a hot beverage like Hojicha Latte or something like that. I was sort of thirsting for something cooler for a change though, and the Cherry Matcha Tonic was the first "cool" drink that caught my eye so I decided to go for it. Won't do that again. Everything else was good though. The Sea Salt Caramel Gelato was the star of the show! In the store there's a sign beneath their gelato section that says "Canadian Gelato Champion". I believe it after tasting the Sea Salt Caramel! They had Nama Chocolates too. I was tempted to get some but...only so much a person's wallet and waistline can handle at one time. Will try the Nama Chocolate some other time. You can order in person here, or you can place an "Express" order at the Kiosk. We tried both ways of ordering. Ordered at the counter first and then after finished my Cherry Matcha Tonic decided I wanted to try the Sea Salt Gelato so then tried ordering that from the Kiosk. Most of the parking in this area is paid but I lucked out and got a free spot right around the corner from this place!

I could tell even from outside that it's a popular work and study type of coffee shop with your free wifi and outlets. I hope this post doesn't give it away and make it way too crowded for me to find a seat next time. There's a steady flow of people visiting the stores while I was there on a weekday between late afternoon and early evening but there's always extra seat for anyone new looking for a desk to work or chat with friends. A few could be better are the pricing and temperature. They offer free oat milk substitute and -$0.35 for bringing your own cup but no more employee discount. And it was so cold in there, I could see a lot of people kept their winter jackets on, I don't think it's a heating issue but the constant windy seems to suggest the AC is on rather than the heater, oh wells Im out of there now. For that reason, unless I'm bundled up, it'll be a hard sale to be back again! I got a hojicha latte and it as pretty good, perfect sweetness and temperature for my cold with no ice. The barista was super great to work with.

Knowing how good 49th Parallel is with coffee I thought I'd try their version of the London Fog. I wasn't disappointed. In fact it was best London Fog I've ever had. I've had them at other places but I've never seen a preparation like 49th. They use loose leaf Earl Gray tea in a tall paper tea bag. They put the bag in your cup pour the steamed milk in and the tea steeps right into the milk. It's the smoothest London Fog I've had and isn't cloyingly sweet like many I've had.

I was in need of a snack and this was a short walk from our hotel. 49th Parallel is well known for their thoughtfully sourced, house-roasted coffees and their cult-favorite donuts, but they also offer a small menu of sandwiches if you're looking for something more filling. It wasn't too busy when we got there, though most of the tables were taken. We ordered a mix of sweet and savory: the chestnut brûlée donut, a salted caramel old fashioned, and a couple of breakfast sandwiches--the Doug and the Cascadia--both served on soft, buttery brioche buns. My other half also grabbed an Americano to go with it all. The chestnut brûlée donut was my fav of the bunch. The chestnut flavor was perfectly balanced--nice and light. The sandwiches were also good, especially thanks to that pillowy soft brioche. Overall, 49th Parallel was the perfect stop for a small, simple snack! Would recommend.
