Guess you have to catch these people on the right day. A little background, I sold 7.5 grams of gold ($3,300 spot price at the time) for $725. Not a bad rate on that so I came back with 10 grams a couple months later (again, $3,300 spot price), and the guy offers me $690 for it. $690 for 10 grams of gold is over 35% below today's spot price. That's not just a lowball offer; it borders on predatory, especially from a professional jeweler who should know better. And their response: "We regret that our offer did not align with your expectations. Our pricing is based on market and what we are willing to buy items for, and if you opt not to sell the item to us, you are free to sell it independently to any other interested party." For a business that advertises themselves as giving the best prices for gold, that seems dishonest. If I'd have known I was going to get lowballed, I wouldn't have wasted my time. Just be honest and say, "We're going to give you 35% below today's spot price." How you conduct business is important. How you treat people is important. Horrible experience. Took in two rings, one to be resized to a 4, and my $9000 wedding ring to be cleaned and replated. Got a call 2.5 weeks later that the one was done, but there was an "accident" with my wedding ring and that it was resized from a 6 to a 4 also! Then, three weeks later, I finally got it back, and upon inspecting it, I notice that the inner band is flat, to which they said they wouldn't have done that! Oh really, I think I know my ring and it was round when I dropped it off!! I had to argue to just not have to pay for either one, and one nasty employee said the resizing was free (no way dumbo)!!! Took it to another jeweler to find out that it will cost a minimum of $1000 to fix it! AVOID this place unless you want to be sick to your stomach and treated like trash!!! read more

Gotta love taking in a ring for prong repair which was quoted between $170 to $250. Then getting a call that "all the seats had to be rebuilt and so in order to assure that the diamonds stay in nice and tight it would be $640". I have since taken it to two different jewelers, one in Colorado and one here in Cheyenne and there is absolutely nothing wrong with the seats, just the prongs. Both gave me quotes of about $120 for all the prongs to be done. I kept my business local and found a much more honest place. The hard thing about this, is that people would have pulled out their credit card and paid that much. Not me, I found a new jeweler! read more
