I love good Mexican food, and this place has all of the offerings at a really great price. Among my favorites are the El Pastor Tacos and Sopes. I have tried a lot of different dishes here and really have enjoyed all of them! The portion sizes are very nice, tacos are generous with meats and toppings, and they will add cheese if that's your thing. Definitely give them a try if you have not already! Like the food, the quality of service has gone down considerably. At its peak, this place deserved three to four stars for the burritos. The rest of the food was ok, but the beans and rice seemed like they came out of a microwave dinner. The burritos now are smaller and filled with filler instead of meat. The prices have gone up but the food quality has gone down. And the service is awful. It's like the employees just don't care. Check your food before you leave because both times I've been there since the pandemic started they've messed something up. Looks nice walking in then the lady taking the order looked as if she was just released from prison. Ordered a chicken/steak burrito with with cheese, lettuce, sour cream, tomatoes, and beans. Started eating about 25 percent of the burrito and no sour cream. Ask the lady and the cook told me he did put it on. So I open up the burrito and their is one little speckle of sour cream. I don't know where to begin. There was hair in my food and when I called. I asked to speak to the manager and she mentioned The manager is only there in mornings that's fine. No apology what so ever about the situation. The lady who answers gave another worker the phone who barely spoke English and said I can bring food back. I have visit the restaurant around 10 times now and have enjoyed it every time. I am not sure what other are talking about, my food what not dripping with grease, the produce used (lettuce, cilantro, tomato, etc) was fresh. The steak in my tacos were tender and delicious, the flautas were nice and crispy, the service was kind. I have to say I have completely enjoyed myself every time. First and last time at Burrito Express. My daughter is a burrito fiend, with her hands down favorite being Whatta Taco in Country Club Hills. We have gone for burritos all over the city, south, north, and west side and the suburbs too...none have been so awful as to make me write a review. In all fairness, the rice and beans were good. The steak burrito tasted precooked and had an off-flavor as if it had been almost burnt. My daughter kept insisting it wasn't steak...it was, just a poor quality. Nothing fancy here, just fresh, home-cooked Mexican fare for a low price. Service is fast and friendly, and the food is always delicious. The department I'm in @ BAS, in homewood, HAD what was called Taco Wednesday. This started in October 2016. I would be the one to not only place the orders,but pick the orders up also. The minimum number of orders were 5, with the max being as high as 12. The slender young lady that works behind the counter has taken down orders wrong a few other times, other than today. She's charged us for items that cost extra, only to get back to my work place and ppl find it missing. Today, when I brought to her attention that onions were place on tacos the were ordered without onions, she asked me where the food was ( a fair question). I began to explain that it was only 1 of the 4 and my co-worker has just discovered it as I was leaving to pick up a SECOND ORDER. What's really bothering me is, this woman insinuated that I was attempting to obtain FREE FOOD, with her continuously stating that "i have to see the food". I'm defensively telling her that "I'm not trying to get something free. Every Wednesday I'm here and this is only the second time since I've been coming that I mentioned an order being wrong". When I mention that she may lose our business on Wednesday and she responded with "Oh well okay". As a consumer that promotes Burrito Express, to my co-workers and upper Management here @ BAS. I wanted to snatch her up and beat her ass. Reviews may speak on how good your food is, of which I can't take away from that. But because I work in the service industry. So I frequent get Mexican food from Burrito Express at least twice a week if not more. Tonight I ordered a veggie Taco cilantro onion sour cream and a cheese enchilada. I received a veggie Taco with lettuce rice and beans and a small slice of avocado my cheese enchilada was filled with pork!!!! Lost my appetite as soon as I took a bite of the enchilada I don't eat pork!!+ immediately threw my food away I called to complain thinking they were going to make me a new order or give me my money back the lady told me to bring my food in to prove that it was wrong in order to get a new order I let her know I threw my food away she told me there's no refund and they cannot make my food again since I didn't have the food to prove it!!! I still have the veggie Taco but who wants to leave their house after working an 8 hour shift getting food coming home taking your shoes and coat off and laying in the bed..... I think I would have been okay if the lady was not so rude you messed my food up I should be the one mad!!! We ordered a beef burrito suizo dinner, a taco and two jalapenos. When we got home, we discovered that we only received the burrito but no beans and rice which makes it a dinner. I called them and let them know of their error. Their response was to stop by the next time I was in the area and they would give me the beans and rice or give me the difference in cash. Well, on that note, they lost a customer. Do they know the cost of a gallon of gas nowadays? Oh and that was after they told me my bill was $21. When I questioned it, it then became $12.
