I'll get this out of the way first...the Burrito Suizo from Burrito Factory is the best burrito I've ever eaten. Picture a large, authentic burrito filled with fresh ingredients, your meat of choice (or extra refried beans as i like it) drenched in a ranchero sauce, with melted cheese and hot sauce on top. Amazing. The regular burrito and tortas are good as well. You can feel the freshness of the ingredients in any dish you get. But I highly recommend the Suizo version of the burrito. The gentlemen that work here are also very nice, and after a couple time will remember you and your order. Quick, inexpensive place near campus for some authentic Mexican street food. I had one of the special tortas with ham, al pastor, and barbacoa and my wife had the al pastor dinner plate. Food not only tasted authentic, but was also fresh too. I am rather a "torta snob" and this is probably the 3rd best torta I have ever had at at restaurant. When we were there, we ordered first...and they didn't ring us up at the register to pay until the food was ready...not sure if they always do that or only did that for us since it was a slow night. read more

Can't believe it took me this long but this is a WC hidden gem that everyone should try!! I can't claim to know much about authenticity but this place does food right. Get whatever you like and I'm sure it'll be amazing, but I personally always go for the pastor torta with everything, both salsas, and queso chihuahua. We were frequent visitors freshman year and haven't been able to come back nearly as often since but the brothers still remember our orders after 4 years. Makes us sound biased but their food is just as great as the owners, I promise. The mango juice is also amazing. Lowkey took this place for granted for a while but, after a week of mostly bland food in Cancun (usually tourist trap parts and random unknown spots, but still) I actually ended up craving the taste, spice and flavor here. Convenient location, great food, and love the people that work here! It's placed on the edge of campus but for me it's right on my way back from classes. The Dobie food court has a lot of great options but this is by far my favorite one there. The cook is friendly and hilarious. He always cooks the meat fresh unlike at chipotle where it's been sitting under a heat lamp for a hot minute. All the vegetables also taste very fresh. Everyone that works here is very kind and welcoming. Overall I recommend this place for UT students or anyone on the UT campus during lunch time. read more

Hands down the best place I've gotten food at since I started college. Burrito Factory is a staple spot for campus students, but do not let that discourage you if you aren't one. They have amazing burritos, tortas, and tacos. Their pastor goes good on everything. The staff is amazing!!! So energetic and always generous. Oh my goodness - what a pleasant surprise. The food was absolutely delicious - my husband and I want to rewind to ten minutes ago so we can eat our burritos again...they were that good! What I really love and appreciate is they have all the sides so you can really personalize everything. Chopped tomatoes or mild pico spicy pico...you can really tailor the burrito or taco to your taste. They also cook up the meat for you on the griddle right as you order so everything is fresh. The ambiance is mall...but they have their own separate eating area to the side that cuts down on cavernous "mall" food course bad ambiance. And $'s were quite good (family of 4 ate for $37 with drinks and everyone ordering something). We came with lower expectations and were so happily surprised. Amazing sleeper restaurant on the edge of campus. Located in The Dobie Mall, this place gets nearly zero recognition from the outside world due to its lack of branding and advertisement. However, when finally found, a gold mine is discovered. I have tried both the torta and the burrito; both are an amazing choice with a balanced savoury flavour and a generous helping of avocado. I absolutely love the Al Pastor here. The price is ultra-competitive with other food places, can easily fill myself up for under $10. There is a single worker commanding all the food prep in the front, so wait times can sometime get long. However, it's well worth it. I was in the area on sales calls and Yelp recommended this restaurant to me. I didn't realize it was inside a tiny food court so it took awhile to find. The address is off Guadalupe but I feel like it's technically down that side street directly after you pass Target. I ordered the chicken fajita taco plate with rice and beans. I wish the chicken would have been seasoned a little more and not so dry. The rice and beans were decent and the red hot salsa was good. Even though the line was about 50 feet long, the gentleman on the grill was lightening fast and super courteous and the lady at the cash register was AH-MAZINGLY nice!!. Burrito Factory is located on the 2nd floor of the Dobie Mall in the food court. Very convenient for UT students and staff. I've been there a couple of times and I've gotten the steak burrito everytime. They have your choice of tortilla just like chipotle and freebirds but I think the quality of their meat, vegetables and salsa is better. $5.50 gets you a huge burrito that I can barely finish even when I'm starving. Besides, it's in a food court albeit a clean and quiet food court. I was watching TV one day, like I do every day, and they were showing tortas for some reason and I suddenly developed an intense urge to stuff my face with one. So I Google "Tortas Austin" and click on the first link which was a Yelp page and Burrito Factory was the closest location. Following some good advice from other Yelpers, I get the Torta Al Pastor. It was farking good. I will proceed to plagiarize other comments by stating that all the ingredients are fresh, including the avocado that they scrape straight out of the skin, and the meat is juicy and tender and well seasoned. I also ordered it spicy and over the course of inhaling the torta, I developed a thin film of perspiration over my forehead. Thirty minutes after, I could still feel a warm tingle in my stomach. I think I shall place a roll of toilet paper in the freezer tonight. I also got the horchata. I was expecting horchata from Spain, the stuff made from earth almonds. But Mexican places use rice instead. It was still good, though a little too sweet. In general, I am not a big fan of Mexican food. But I will gladly have another, here. read more

I work around the corner from here and thought I'd check it out. I tend to avoid the Dobie Food Court because it always gives me a bit of a creepy vibe. It was probably last updated in 1982 and I'm always waiting for the B movie zombies to come storming out of one of the vacant storefronts in some direct to video cheesy horror rampage. I had heard some good things about Burrito Factory so I figured I would wander up and check it out. I've been on a torta kick for the last few weeks and wanted to try one here. I got the Pastor torta and a Horchata. The sandwich was very good... toasty bread with a good balance of meat and veggies. The sandwich was well composed, the people were friendly and the food was fresh. I thought the horchata was a bit on the sweet side for my personal tastes, but it had a nice cinammon-y flavor and the drink complemented the sandwich well. On its own, the drink was too sugary, but in conjunction with the savory sandwich, they balanced each other off in a pretty good bite. Is it a 4 star restaurant? For its category, yes. It is a very solid lunchtime sandwich shop. You get fresh, well composed food at a good price. The ambiance is lacking at the mall, but in return, you get a cheap sandwich because you aren't paying a premium for their rent. I wouldn't circle the drag for 20 minutes to find a place to park for Burrito Factory, but if you are in the campus area, its a solid choice for a quick lunch. This place is so ridiculous. It's tucked away in a shady corner of the very shady Dobie. But holy burrito, it's so good. The flavors are just unbelievable. The price is really good too (although portions aren't huge). I usually get the torta, which comes with a niiiiice amount of sour cream, avocado, shockingly spicy sauce, flavorful proteins, and fresh veggies. Their tacos are good too. The people who work there are super quick with the orders and super nice. Definitely worth going. AMAZING BURRITOS. Once you've tried Burrito Factory once, you'll never want to go to Chipotle again. The burritos here are extremely filling, authentic, and are made from the freshest ingredients your money can buy. There's always a line when this place is open, but it moves fast; the staff is extremely competent, friendly, and will probably even remember your order from last time. I typically get either a burrito with steak, al pastor, chicken, or some combination of those choices. The burritos al pastor are my favorite, but whatever you choose you are guaranteed to get a generous portion of meat. In addition to the standard toppings (lettuce, cheese, beans, rice, etc.), you also get free avocado (!) and a choice of spicy or non-spicy salsa. The spicy salsa is legendary, but if your stomach can't take it (mine can't), the non-spicy is still a great option. Want something more? The Burrito Suizo is their standard burrito covered in melted cheese and tomato sauce. It's a delicious option for days when you feel a normal burrito won't cut it. The only downside? They have fairly limited hours at night and on weekends. However, when Burrito Factory is open, there are few options that are better from either a quantity or quality standpoint. read more

This place has what I might consider my favorite manifestation of the burrito, and that is the Burrito Suizo. That just means after they assemble your burrito, they cover it in more cheese, bath it in a somewhat spicy tomato sauce, and pop it in the microwave briefly to melt the additional cheese. I have to eat it with a knife and fork. The steak meat they use does tend to pool grease in the bottom of your burrito tortilla. But it's really good meat. I went to this place back when I attended UT over 2 years ago. Recently I revisited the place and it is pretty much exactly how I remember it. They have other things like Tortas, that I ALWAYS see people ordering, but I've never personally tried them. Like most everything else in Dobie, it's operating hours are rather limited. They work really hard though, so I'm very glad to support a local mom and pop shop (at least it seems to be) when I'm able to make it there. read more

Burrito factory is one of three places that I really enjoy eating at on campus. I go there so many times that the owner and workers know my order as soon as I walk up. This is not uncommon as well. Usually when I go during lunch the owner knows other customers orders as well and makes small talk with us if the place is not busy. This place is fast, the food is fresh, and the service is great. If you ask for any vegetables on your burrito or torta, they'll usually give it to you. I always get the torta supreme number 5. This is steak milanesa and chorizo. It comes with avocado, lettuce, tomatoes, Pico, and your choice of green or red sauce. It comes out to $5.80 and it is worth every penny. I usually get a water to drink and end up being filled up. Other bonuses: horchata is pretty good, they also have Mexican coke. read more

Ok so let me start out by saying that I cringe every time I walk into Dobie center. I hate the building, it's like a slum in the middle of campus. That being said, Burrito Factory is the *best* place in here. That's difficult for me to say because I love VERTs a lot as well. (There is a VERTs right next to Burrito Factory) Get a taco and a torta and dress them up however you like. If you get the picante be prepared for a spicy lunch. They make everything fresh there. It's delicious. Avocados on your torta. So yummy. Sour cream, Lettuce, Pico, Picante, Guac, Cheese. Taco Heaven. Most of all, the staff is incredibly friendly. They remember you and even your order. It might have a lot to do with them seeing the same people who work for the University all the time, but it still feels like special treatment. He was super friendly and served me up a tasty burrito or torta every time. After being away from Austin for a year, I re-visited Burrito Factory to find that they had increased their staff and their menu; plus, they seem to be much busier now. Good for them! Food was ok. The man behind the counter was the problem. I asked for no rice no cilantro and he repeats "no rice no cilantro" but he's flirting with the woman in front of me and lingers for a good 60 seconds talking to her. Then as he starts to make my order the 1st thing he does is put a big ladle of rice on it. I try to tell him but he's already talking to the guy behind me, so I try telling the woman at the register to tell him. Then he listens to what I'm saying and starts to argue with me about it. I can't say enough about Burrito Factory. This place is awesome! I always order their tostada de pastor which is always delicious. I'm from Corpus Christi which is home to a lot of authentic Mexican food, and this is the closest thing to authentic here in Austin. Their horchata is also probably the best one I've ever had. The price is also very affordable, especially compared to everything else in the area. I get two tostadas and a large horchata for like $9.50 or so, and that fills me up. What is better that the food is the service. The two brothers that work there always remember my name and order. They even ask me about how my tests went and how my weekend was. As far as burritos on campus go, Burrito Factory is by far the most authentic. With the addition of Qdoba, you'll find burritos all the way up Guad from MLK to 24th, but this hidden gem tucked away in the Dobie Mall is often overlooked. With a lot of attention brought into Dobie as a result of the new Verts, I was encouraged to try the Burrito Factory when the line got particularly long. The tortillas are more what you'd expect out of an authentic Mexican restaurant (the harder but sturdier kind that is undoubtedly unhealthier but far tastier than Chipotle), with a choice of meats that matches. I usually end up with some sort of mix of beef and pastor (pork), and it's always great. They cook the meat to order so it's always fresh and hot. You can also get avacado (I believe it's no extra cost), and they never skimp out. If you like cheese, make sure you get sauce and cheese on top. They microwave your burrito too so the whole thing is warm all the way through. Definitely a try if you need a burrito more authentic than Chipotle or Qdoba and don't feel like wandering off campus. read more
