Dinner plans changed and Burrito Shak was recommended to grab a burrito. Employees were all very friendly, everything was clean, and the food was fresh/delicious! I loved the chicken aloha burrito, with some added fresh jalapeños. The chips and various salsas were such a treat! I loved trying all of them. A classic walk up and order style restaurant with a multitude of options and then grab a seat and wait for your order. I ordered the fish tacos (my go-to whenever and wherever they are available) and chips and salsa. These tacos were amazing. Busting with flavor and cooked to perfection. I have become addicting to this locations chicken nachos. The location is right in a strip mall in Hampstead and is normally not too busy. I have gotten items to go and ate in their restaurant, and read a book, which I feel shows that it does not get too loud. They also have plenty of seating and it is fairly kid friendly. I have had their burritos and bowls but for some reason, the nachos just hit the spot. Their prices are similar to those of competing restaurants and they layer a lot of food on their entrees. I do really like their queso and their guacamole that they have also, especially compared to some of the other joints in town. read more

I did like it. The food not too fresh cooked. I like pork and I know rice needs to be cooked and can not be just sitting cus then the appearance is not that appetizing, just a heads up if it doesn't look fresh and inviting it is not eatable. Most of the people serving the food are Jung and really fun so no complain there. Food was tasty, but not plentiful. A tablespoon of pinto beans in my burrito. Perhaps two tablespoons of rice. These are cheap ingredients, not sure why they are so frugal with these. We stopped on our way back to Raleigh and wow these burritos are amazing! The concept is similar to Chipotle yet local vs a big chain. I had a burrito with chicken and rice and beans and slaw and it was so flavorful. The prices are great at $8 or so each. The chips were super fresh and crispy. Service was great. The Hampstead location is AMAZZZZZING, we live in the Surf City area but rather than going to the Surf City location we prefer the FULL FLAVORED AUTHENTICITY that is ALWAYS consistent at the Hampstead location! With a franchise, sometimes the new owners choose not to follow recipes 100%. If you have tried the Surf City location or another BShak and were left unsatisfied then you need to give the Hampstead location (original store) a try!!! Absolutely amazing, I could eat there everyday!!!!!! If franchise locations like Surf City and Carolina Beach are lacking in flavor & taste it (both are blannnnd), it can profoundly effect the fabulous reputation of the original location. The family and I ate here a while ago. The service was very slow and the employees seemed lost as far as what ingredients went in to the orders. It's kind of like a Chipotle knock-off, but with lower quality ingredients. I hope they turn it around and become successful in Hampstead. Update: Family and I decided to try this place again. A much more pleasurable experience. Everything was much better. Customer service, employee skill, and cleanliness were all great. The food was improved as a result of a better trained staff. Their tofu tacos with their tropical slaw were MINDBLOWING!!! Soooooo good. Felt like I was eating fish tacos, which used to be my favorite food so it was really special to get to have something that tasted just like it but was cruelty free. The atmosphere is fun and tropical and their chips and salsa bar has some of the best salsa I've ever had. DO NOT MISS THIS PLACE. They often show frustration that you're ordering to go for a family of 4 by yourself. That has to be done because more than once, once they added online ordering back, they've screwed up the order.
