Our son has named the Wagyu Burger as one of the best he has ever had - in his top three burgers of all time. I am GF (not Celiac - so it was ok to have items in shared fryer) and DF - there was so much for me to have but I landed on the Cauliflower Tacos - so, so, so good! All of the flavors were delicious - I need to figure out how to do - because we live in DE and won't be able to come back until next year - but we will! Britney's suggestions for the Pork Shank and the Octopus were right on as well. Can't say enough about how amazing that meal was. Finally a note about the team as a whole: it was obvious that Britney had most of the tables, but every person on tonight pulled together and worked as a team to make sure the food got out hot and on time and no one was sitting too long at any point in their meal! The food was so delicious and the menu so versatile I can not wait to return the next time we visit. We were there around 2pm and concerned because when we arrived there weren't many cars in the parking lot. What we didn't know was the service we were provided was basically one on one. We ordered the Birria Bao Buns which were fab and while waiting on our food we had a conversation about my love of Charro beans and their preparation and cooking process , It's a lengthy task.. Absolutely fantastic, top to bottom. Wife and I dropped in for dinner while visiting family in North Carolina and boy was it a great decision. First and foremost our server Bella was fantastic, she was so personable and ran through the menu with us even offering suggestions. The restaurant itself is very cool, it's definitely more upscale Mexican and the food more than met that standard. I had the 4 enchilada plate, they are stuffed with delicious chicken and at Bella's recommendation I did 2 with their homemade mole and 2 with the homemade queso, both were excellent. My wife had the cauliflower dish and really enjoyed it, it's not something she gets every day and the flavor really popped, great vegetarian options at Vochas. Was very excited to try this place and was even more happy to hear that they could easily take on our group of 15. The service was great and the food was delicious. I struggled figuring out what I wanted to eat as there were a lot of great options but I finally decided to go with the sushi which had such a different and great flavor. We were in town for a wedding and made a same-day reservation online. Walked right in and were seated immediately. The vibe is chic, colorful, and upbeat--perfect whether you're dressed up or keeping it casual. It's also kid-friendly, which is a plus. All in all our meal was quite nice, just hubby and I. Service was OK, a few times our server was very obviously engaged in conversation with some of her other tables and was a little delayed in checking on us. For an average $30 plate restaurant we typically expect higher quality of service; they are 'good' but not 'great'. Hubby had Chamorro Pibil ($32; slow cooked pork shank) and it was absolutely divine. I almost wished I had ordered it for myself! I ordered the salmon and it was extremely odd when I asked for medium rare that they said "they don't cook to temp with the salmon" (huh???). I was extremely worried that the salmon would come out dry and overcooked. It was good, definitely cooked fully medium, which at $32 was quite disappointing. The only thing that redeemed the dish was the peach habanero glaze, but when I pay $32 for a beautiful piece of salmon I don't particularly want to "have" to slather it in a condiment for it to taste good. Lastly, we ordered dessert - super disappointing here. The description says: "Choco Flan de Cafe: impossible espresso coffee cake / flan / cajeta / strawberries". See photo in review... What we received was completely different than expected. No "impossible espresso coffee cake" and no strawberries, just a huge chunk of flan that was basically like mildly chocolate flavored jello. We took the tiniest bite and then sent it back, and it felt like the manager gave us a bit of side eye. Server told us that they only have two desserts because people are typically so full. But if you're going to have two desserts you should have two AMAZING desserts! All in all it was a nice visit, I think next time we will order the dish that hubby got and split it. Two girlfriends and I decided to try Vochos for a girls night dinner recently. We had heard good things about this new restaurant, and it lived up to the hype! We started with the fresas drink and the white sangria which were both tasty. For an appetizer, we had the pork belly bites with guac (so tasty and crispy!). I enjoyed the quesabirrias- possibly one of the best versions I've had- which comes with three tacos, beans, and broth for dipping. I also couldn't resist trying the rainbow roll, which is nothing like a traditional rainbow roll- it had hibiscus rice, mango, and shrimp tempura. It was super tasty and sweet. One friend had tacos, and the other had oysters and birria bao buns. Everything was delicious, and our server, Britney, was fantastic! Every team member that came to our table was friendly and so helpful with suggestions on food items and drinks. We had a great time, as did everyone we could see around us. Wow wow wow! I can't say enough good things about this place. I've found one of my top favorite restaurants in Wilmington. This place gives Miami feels. The ambience has this electric tropic feel, playing a variety of old and new Latin tunes, with lowkey lighting but not so low you can't see anything. The food it's packed full of flavor and the margs are on point! I recommend starting off with the pork belly quac, and a spicy margarita with tajin on the rim I had the Machu Picchu roll(corvina, citrus tiger milk, mango confetti, and more) and I swear was one of the most beautifully creative flavor packed dishes I have ever had in this town. I ordered La Reforma Cesar with grilled chicken. I really just wanted something light after a long day in the sun. But I didn't like the salad much unfortunately. The chicken was decent and I ate most of it off the plate. But the lettuce was hot? Like the salad ended up wilting and being really difficult to eat. The dressing seemed more like a vinagrette. So I unfortunately only ate the chicken and a small amount of the lettuce. This was disappointing, especially considering the amazing salad I had a week ago at a different restaurant in the area. I then ordered the Maracuya Tres Leches, mostly because I love maracuya and it sounded good. Unfortunately, also disappointing. The presentation was lovely. My wife and I swung in for an early lunch following her eye doctor's appointment and it was amazing! Our server Brittany was friendly, knowledgeable about the menu and quick to help with my wife's needs, being as she was having a difficult time seeing. In addition, the three other members of the staff who helped us (the host, a second server who helped and the gentleman bussing the table) were very friendly, polite and professional. As for the food... we will be back! The baos were our favorite, but the pork belly guac and tacos were also top notch! The management and owners should be proud of their staff and the quality of food. Best Mexican restaurant in Eastern North Carolina. If you think I'm exaggerating, try it. This is an independent, family owned and operated restaurant that celebrates the weird connections between American and Hispanic foods and dishes. The Birria tacos and Menudo were so delicious, I still salivate when I think about eating them. The cocktails were amazing also. They have pretty cool outdoor seating if the weather is good. It looked like a cool spot and had similar menu options to one of our favorites resturaunts we frequent. We ordered the Jose Jalepeno sushi, Wagyu Burger, and Quesabirrias tacos. I can say the food was all very good like high end resturaunt quality. The atmosphere was very nice and modern. The waiter was also extremly friendly, and I believe even the owner/manager stopped by to ask us how we were enjoying our food. All very great and a wonderful experience. If we could give ZERO STARS we would. We sat for 30 minutes with staff all attending to other tables, tables being seated after us and not one person greeted us or even offered us water. We had menus on our table so you cannot even use the excuse that maybe they thought our order was placed. Again- not even a hello or water. The restaurant was fully staffed and there is no way we weren't seen. It was NOT busy (which is not an excuse) When we watched another table seated after us being served drinks and food(30 mins after we were seated) we went to the front and when the hostess saw us, she literally hid in the kitchen. We then stood there for another five minutes before the bartender came and asked us if we wanted a table. When we explained we were asked if we wanted to sit at another table...you just cannot make this stuff up. Management and owners- you are in the wrong business to think that people are not being more choosy in this economy where to spend their money. We came here this weekend and it was very good! The decor and vibes were very cool. My husband ordered a margarita and I had a passion fruit pisco sour - both very good. They started out with complimentary Mexican cornbread for the 2 of us. Very yummy. As an appetizer we ordered the tostadas with the guacamole on the side. As an entree, I had the steak tacos and added some of the guacamole from the appetizer. My husband had the quesabirria. Everything was phenomenal and the service was good. I think the only reason why it's a 4 is because they didn't have chips and salsa. The cornbread was great, don't get me wrong, but when you go to a mexican restaurant, you kind of expect chips and salsa, or at least a chips and salsa option as an appetizer.
