Best place to teach your dog how to swim. It's more than that though. It builds their confidence and teaches them how to get out of a pool so if something were to happen, like falling in the pool, it teaches them how to enter and exit the pool. Great place and Lisa is awesome! read more

If I could give 10 stars, I would! We happened to be in the woodlands with our dogs. I searched to see if there was a pool that allowed dogs near us, so that our very senior lab could swim. I came across Rummy's Beach Club on Yelp and called! Lisa was so awesome and fit us in on short notice! We ended up taking both dogs (you can take up to 3 per swim session). Lisa has a great dog yard that is fenced in beside the pool area! The dogs got to roam around a bit before getting in the pool! The pool itself is so nice and clean!!! It slopes down gently so dogs can also wade in it. Lisa has all the toys in the world, floats, life jackets and even a little float to keep a dog's head up! Our dogs, especially the older one, absolutely loved being here!!! He closed his eyes and just floated for a little while before going back to chasing his frisbee. They do offer season passes as well!! I cannot recommend Rummy's Beach Club enough! read more

It is getting that time of year when the sun is out, the weather is warm and being outside is where we all want to be! If you have fur kids, as I do, the place you must try is Rummy's Beach Club! Two years ago, we welcomed two amazing Aussiedoodles, Tanner and Paisley, into our hearts and home and quickly found that they needed something more. I went to the internet looking for local places to bring them for swimming, but I wanted a place we could swim with them. That is where I met Lisa, the owner of Rummy's. Lisa talked with me, explained the amenities she had to offer, and we knew we had to give it a try. Lisa offers a flexible pricing option where you can either purchase sessions on an individual basis or different packages that allow for savings when purchasing packages of different amounts. The experience includes your own private session with her or a trained member of her team. You have private access to 1 acre of land which includes a digging dirt hill, toys, lots of running room and of course a beach entrance pool where there is a dock for jumping and more toys (to dive, to catch and to squeak)! There is even a very nice private area to allow you to change before and / or after your swim so you can have nice dry clothes for the drive home. In addition to the physical amenities, Rummy's offers a safe place for pets of all backgrounds. Rummy's supports all types from young, old, reactive, fearful, handicapped, healthy...you name it, they are welcome! When you first arrive, the facility is fully gated with high fences. When it is your turn to enter, the gates open and you drive your vehicle in and the gates close. At this time, you are in a safe place where you and your pets can exit the vehicle leash free. You tour the facility to give the pets time to run and do their potty business, then enter another gated area with the pool. Here if your pet needs, she fits them for an appropriately sized life vest and then enter the pool area. Halfway through your hour visit, or more frequently if your pet decides, you take a bathroom break before returning for another swim or two around the pool. Lisa and her amazing team have helped my two doodles in more ways than one. She has helped Paisley pursue her love of the water, jumping, fetching, and swimming. Paisley was nervous and timid, but now her and the team members run non-stop the entire time she's there. Lisa has given our boy, Tanner, a safe place to be himself. Tanner is highly sensitive and can appear reactive in many situations. He was unsure of the water, noises, people, basically anything. Her and her dedicated team were patient with him, nurturing and caring. They have taught him to have fun! He looks forward to the pool and has even jumped off the side! He loves to run through the big open field. I cannot give Rummy's enough stars. Not only do you receive a fun, safe, clean, and stress-free experience when you swim at Rummy's; you build a relationship with an amazing staff and owner that can last a lifetime. I have had 3 Neapolitan Mastiffs - the first 2 were mermaids, but our present one was scared to death of water. He would not even walk around the rain water that accumulated at the curb after a rain. The breed is completely heat intolerant , so the issue was : if he wouldn't get in the lake or pond to cool himself during these brutal Houston summers - he was not able to go outside and get any exercise at all. I'm 65 - had dogs all my life as well as served 15 years on the board of LASPC, so needless to say I thought I knew everything there was to know about dogs. I was resigned to the fact we just didn't have a swimmer and buckled down for a long-long summer with a huge energetic dog in a high rise in down town Houston. I read about Lisa and her program in a local pet magazine and though "what the hell, couldn't hurt " as I had tried everything. Driving up there I had made my self the rare deal that I was going to stay out of her way and let her do her job. We bought a 6 visit package which was a bit less expensive than paying by the lesson. The first trip went as I had expected - my dog " Norman " would not go anywhere near the water, paced and cried along the side of the pool and all I could think of was ' there goes 600 bucks down the drain - this is the stupidest thing I've ever done ..... " However - since we had made the financial commitment up front and I wasn't about to loose my money and thought we would just continue to use up the remaining 5 " lessons " at least we were able to enjoy an afternoon in a beautiful clean pool. The second lesson I shut up and allowed Lisa to do her thing without me micro managing and voicing what he would and wouldn't do. There was a remarkable difference in his reaction to the water - still wasn't swimming but he was walking in 4" deep water on his own which was a huge difference. By lesson 4/5 - we had a swimmer, he got in on his own, swam to us in the deeper end and when he got tired he swam to where he could stand but did not immediately get out of the water. Our personal schedules delayed our going back for the final lesson, but we already had our swimmer - we have taken him to Sam Rayburn lake and the Waugh at Memorial dog park and the first thing he does is gets in the water and plays with the other dogs. Last weekend we went out to Lisa's not necessarily for a lesson but to use our last prepaid outing and more importantly to show Lisa how well he was doing and thank her for her excellent , professional service. My advice to those that, as I was - maybe somewhat skeptical - is to stay out of Lisa and her staffs way and let them do what they undoubtedly are professionals in. Stick with it, do as you are told and let her work her magic - if you do those things, you will have a swimmer in no time. read more

I saw an ad for Rummy's Beach Club in a pet magazine last year, and I have been wanting to visit for a while now. I finally took the opportunity to call for an appointment since my sister is in town with her dog. Though I knew in advance it would be booked for July 4th, I called anyways to be sure. I was right, they were booked for the holiday, and I sadly said I would call back to figure out another date I could come out to Rummy's Beach Club. Wednesday morning Lisa calls me and says there has been a opening due to a cancellation. I immediately jumped on the chance to finally bring my dogs out there. If you call, you will probably be leaving a message since she usually has appointments through the day, but she gets back to you within a reasonable amount of time. Also, what surprised me was that she remembered I called about wanting to book an appointment for the holiday! Either she has an awesome memory or she jotted down the note... either way, I appreciated the call back about the opening. The property is very nicely kept. She has about an acre of land that is fenced off. Once you park your car in the gated area, you can let your dogs out off leash. They have the opportunity to do their business and explore the new surroundings. She walked around the area with us as well as ask questions about our dogs. After 5-10 minutes, we go into the gated pool area. Then, if needed, she fits them in with a life jacket. After that, we swim. She was patient, kind, and informed. I am glad I finally took the opportunity to visit Rummy's Beach Club. I will definitely come back when I can. The only drawback is the price, and the drive (depending where you live), but you (and your furbabies) reap the benefits. My 12 year old beagle had surgery on her right hind leg when she was rescued, and as she has aged, she has started favoring her left side more. When our session was close to the end, the dogs were let out to the grass area, and boy, for the first time in a LONG time, she was hopping/running around with the other two younger dogs (2 and 6 years old). It brought a big smile to my face to see. I have even arranged out next session to visit! read more

I also saw an ad for Rummy's in a pet magazine and thought what a wonderful idea...my two pups didn't really care for the water so this would be a great introduction. Rummy's has totally exceeded my expectations. Lisa is great and really takes the time to learn about your pups and she is great at coming up with ideas to get them jumping and swimming. Daisy and Pepper went from two water weary pups to jumpers and swimmers. They even will get in the shower at home with out a huge fuss. They are always worn out after a session and always enjoy their treat afterwards! I don't think I would have been able to get them as comfortable with the water with a trip to the beach... the private one on one time helps tremendously. I can only imagine trying to get them in the lake with all the other distractions going on. To me the price is fair, Lisa offers packages and the more you buy the cheaper per hour the swim is. I can just imagine what it costs her to keep it up and running! I only wish she offered payment plans so I could buy a years worth of swims!!! The pool and the grounds are always clean and welcoming and Lisa is always a gracious hostess. We will keep going to Rummy's for as long as we can!! read more

I wanted to expose our dogs to water, but I wanted to do it in a non stressful environment, and at a clean place. You can't find anything like Rummy's in Houston. That's what you're paying for, in my opinion - a clean, safe place with an attentive owner. Lisa was very responsive over email. She's also very good at keeping time - I mean that in a good way. We started an introduction to the grounds right away after we parked.. and we drove out of her driveway minutes before our hour allotment was up. The pool itself is very nice and clean. Lisa gave us advice on how to make the water seem more inviting to our dogs, using various toys, rafts and life vests. During the "half time" break, the dogs were super hyped and zoomed around her yard. I think it was a nice balance of water and yard play, especially for their first time. They then went happily back to the pool for another round. The shed is a nice touch (for changing clothes afterwards), and so are the photos and videos that Lisa took (can't wait to see them!) read more

I loved the idea of this place and the kids and I were very excited...but $90 an hour for one visit to swim?! It's stupidly high priced for this kind of service. I'd rather just take the whole family to the beach for the same price! Sad that it could be an awesome thing to do but the price is just highway robbery!!! read more

The grounds are immaculate, and the pool is A1. I've been taking 2 of my Mastiff's there for about 7 weeks now (I bought a package of 10), and they have fallen in love with the pool and swimming. Lisa makes the workouts enjoyable for the dogs, and she's just the nicest person to work with too. My rescue girl has bad hips, and swimming has made a dramatic difference in her mobility and in toning her rear-end muscles. My boy has just found the joy in diving for toys, and I have to drag him out of the water. Lisa has the knack of finding that one thing that will motivate the dog and to make it feel like playtime. I highly recommend Rummy's Beach Club for anyone that wants to enjoy the water with their fur-kids. read more

I have been taking my 2 dogs to Rummy's Beach Club now for about a year. We even swam in the winter months because she has a dome that goes over the pool and it is still very nice. My dogs LOVE Rummy's. They not only swim but dive and jump also. Lisa is an extremely nice and patient owner/operator. Her place is extremely clean and neat.
