Exorbitant prices ..asked $120 for wheel balance and tire rotation..discount tire did it for free

I have a flatbed trailer that I use on the farm, I was moving hay and found a flat tire on the traiIer so instead of just putting air in it I decided to take the time to remove the tire to have it patched I knew the leak was there and it took 2 months to leak out, I put the trailer tire in one of my Vans that had a real slow leak also and I decided to put the tire in the Van and have them both done. it was about 3:30pm on a Saturday and I took it to Burt Brothers in Sandy, [[HIGHLIGHT]]They said they close at 5:00 but they should be able to get them done by then.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] at about 5:10, they came out and said the trailer tire was too old to fix but they got the Van done. REALLY !!!! It was the trailer tire that I needed and they are telling me after I have been waiting for 2 hours that they would not fix it! I would have just put air in it and got the Job done while I still have daylight. This tire is on a farm trailer that never sees the Highway and if I have a flat tire in the middle of the field we just deal with it at that time. The Van tire I could have fixed at any time and we could have dropped it off, I would not have waited 2 hours for the Van tire, but now I have lost the last 2 hours of daylight so I just filled it with air and put it back on so I could get the job done without daylight. (It gets cold after the sun goes down.) Purchased 50K mile tires. Went in after30K miles 60% usage. My wife was told all tires needed to be replaced. They gave her such a hard time I had to leave work and meet her @ the Riverton location. They mentioned the tires were warn and they could give us 27 dollars credit. 300 dollar tires * 40 percent should be around 120 dollars a tire. We spent 2 hours there discussing the issue and they agreed with us but couldn't do anything. We left. The manager called me and I had to return the call and he took the call and said he would call me back... ghosted no call back. This place sucks! They told me to have the police solve everything even though they have the security tapes of their employees stealing from me! Or they did before their manager deleted them. Anyway this is a god awful business and they will tighten down your oil drain plug so tight that you can't get it off yourself. Stay away! This is a big box store type of operation with up selling at every turn. Very disappointed with my experience. Worst experience I've ever had with car repair. After taking my car for a routine oil check, I noticed my car to be leaking unusual amounts of oil. I took the car back in for inspection only to be told by the sales manager that my car needed an "oil engine cooler" replacement part. Fast forward 2 days later when I took it for a second opinion as a part of that kind was easily $500 and my car was fine a week ago. My car did not only NOT require said part, but it was indeed the carelessness of their mechanics who simply installed an oil filter WRONG. But that's not the worst of this mess. It was brought to my attention they did the very same thing to a co-worker who has dumped thousands into this chain year after year, as well as a patient from our office. This is not a coincidence, this is negligence and upselling. I'm sickened at the thought of them trying to also sale me a part my car didn't need!! will be reporting this to the BBB and demand a refund of damages. I had my son's car towed to BB from work. They assessed that the battery had grown weak and the fact that the headlights were accidentally left on all day, it could no longer retain a charge. I had to run some errands after work, as a result barely made it back to their store before 6pm closing. Cory was very willing to make sure someone was there so that I could pick up the car before the next day. I got there, paid for the new battery and install at a reasonable price. They were closing and I went to drive away after being dropped off by family when I noticed the power steering was very difficult to maneuver. That is when one of their technicians, Brian, jumped in to help and diagnosed the fuse issue related to that which had been caused by faulty jump starting on the fuse box terminal under the hood by several well-meaning friends before having the car towed instead of the battery terminals in the Saturn ION's trunk. Brian not only pinpointed the exact fuse needing replacement and its replacement, but offered after closing to drive me to the nearby auto part store in his own car where I could buy one inexpensively and installed it for me. The power steering worked perfectly after that. Thanks to the dedicated workers at the HIghland Burt Brothers, as well as the employee who went the extra two or three miles to resolve my real need at the time. They should give Brian a raise!! Gone down the hill. Their sons are buying the company from the original founders and Jake doesn't believe in good customer service. We've been 20-year customers but will never go back. They put brakes on our car incorrectly 3 times. They had to keep replacing them. And here's the scary part. They had to pay for my husband to take his car to Ken Garff to replace them finally. Yup, they footed the bill because they couldn't do the job. It was a Honda Accord. Frightening. At the Sandy location, they put my tires on incorrectly. As I was driving away, they made a funny sound. During the same visit, they charged me for an oil change I never received. Their mechanic lied that he had done it and let me pay for it knowing I paid for something I never got. When I got home and found that my oil was fully brown, we talked to Jake and he didn't care. They did perform an oil change after that, but they did nothing to compensate for their horrific customer service. Terry, the guy who's worked for them for a long time had to put Jake in his place. We bought a set of 4 tires from Burt Brothers. Included with the purchase was tire rotation. We took our car in and parked it along the back wall of their shop. They said they were busy so if we could leave it for the day they would get to it . We left our car. When we went to pick it up, they said it was all done. We told them that our car was in the exact place where we had left it at 8:00 in the morning! They said they were sorry, but they were too busy to get to it! I can always count on Nick and the other employees at Burt Brothers to take good care of me and my car. I noticed a fluid leak after getting an oil change and the cap had cracked. Burt Bothers ordered a new cap at no cost, but when the new cap wasn't snug, they installed a brand new oil pan at no cost to fix the problem. While I waited, I heard Nick come out to the lobby to speak to a customer who'd come in for a new brakes passage that part of the brakes on the vehicle just needed to be adjusted and that the customer didn't need to purchase an entire brake package. I heard another employee on the phone. He must have talked to the caller for 15 minuted walking the caller through how to get a car started and into the shop to be looked at. If you are looking for tires or wheels, this would have been a great place to go to 5 years ago. Since then they have lost their competitive drive and get out priced everyday of the week. Nicely remodeled waiting room to pay for. As far as other car services like oil changes, brakes, etc, if you like it when a mechanic shop breaks something like an oil plug (huh?) and then blames it on you and wants to charge you $650 to fix it, this may be a good spot to check out. read more

Highly recommend don't need to think about it just go. Mistakes are made by humans in all industry's but what matters is there willingness to do whatever it takes to make it right and fix the problem for there customers and this company will do everything in there power to make it right!! So I would like to start by saying this opinion is coming from someone who who worked here at the sandy Burt brothers for Terry about 10 years ago for 4-5 years between 2 separate times and I still consider him the best boss I have ever had, and probably part of the reason I am now a full time everything mechanic.... kinda I fix toy-haulers and motor homes and really any trailer car truck or van and do full custom restorations and work on boats and all power sports from a atv's and dirt bikes to side by sides. But we lack a tire machine and balancer so to my review. I went in about a week ago to have some new tires put on the rear of my sports car that I had ordered from simple tire. I at first talked to Kelly who is a very good guy. The next day I went in to pick up the car and talked to a blonde guy up front i have sense been told his name but just don't remember but he was very rude and that kinda irritated me then I got my car and almost immediately had to return due to a simple error that was quickly fixed but I had to deal with that same rude blonde guy up front who again was a jerk before he got someone to come fix the tire just add air. Then got on the freeway and had a big shake in the front end, it was because my tires are factory offset so rear tires are bigger than front and now we're installed so I had 4 rear tires. Needless to say I was irritated and called in and was probably a little rude myself as it was the blonde guy again that I talked to or who answered and was told to bring it in the next day. So Went in the next day and they fixed the tire issue but then had a issue with the front wheels being in the rear and rear in front and I left a bad review and then Kelly reached out and was very apologetic and said he would make it right so I came back in again. Then they fixed all those big issues but to try to keep the story short the car still had a shake went back had to deal with the blonde guy again who was believe it or not drastically more rude this time and the car still had the same issues and I then made a worse review. A day later Terry called me and said that he was very sorry over the issues I had and that he had been out of town and said he would make it right for sure! And I have to say he is a man of his word !! He went above and beyond for me !! He had me go into the store on highland dr. Near millcreek and dropped off the car, and Jason Burt who I also worked with back in the day and Terry and the store manger was there to meet me and apologized for what had happened and again went above and beyond for me they checked the balance of the tires again inspected the car fixed some wheel studs gave me all new lug nuts and got me new hub centric rings for the car and on top of that washed it for me and did pretty dang good to it's a black on black car. Then Terry and the store manager Lance personally test drove it to make sure the problem was handled Picked it up tonight and it drives great the problem is 99% fixed I'm very positive that anything left of vibration is due to have slightly tweaked wheels and not great roads. Keep in mind there only gain from this was a customer for life and $50 because I bought my tires online, and that is incredible when you think about it. I would say after spending 10 years in the mechanic business that 90% or more of businesses would have told me to get lost. I will definitely continue to recommend!!! The tire service they provide is amazing. They have good prices and do a good job servicing and helping keep the tires running a long time. I hate being up-sold and they find problems to fix every time I'm at this location. I'm spending $900 on tires and they tell me I need $300 more worth of work. It would be fine if I really had the issues but it's everytime and they have a list of 2 or 3 things. Belts I had done recently they say are bad or that I need my fluids flushed. I went here yesterday to have them patch a flat, I ran over a screw that was dead center in my tiers tread. They said that the screw was too close to my sidewall and they would have to replace the tier. They said they would have to order it and shave down the tier so that it would match. I thankfully walked away because it sounded like crap to me and I drove to Firestone. Firestone confirmed that Burt Brothers was full of crap, and that not only could they easily able to patch my existing tier, but shaving down a tier as Burt Brothers recommended is not good practice. Burt Brothers lacks honesty, integrity, and customer service skills and I will no longer patronize any Burt Brothers. read more

I had to get a power steering pump replaced, and they charged me about $400. You can get a steering pump for around $100-125, and it takes about 2-3 hours to do the work, so for $100/hr. for labor it wasn't bad. I looked around on the internet and it seems like most people agree that $400-$500 is reasonable for a power steering pump replacement. After they fixed it, there was no more squealing. However; it took a while for the power steering to take full effect. At times I had to grip the steering wheel really hard, but I just assume that means it took a while for the fluid to fully permeate the system. I've gone to these guys for tires too. I did some heavy research on tires and settled on some Bridgestone Potenzas. I called around and Burt Brothers had the best price I could find. I'd definitely recommend these guys again, but do your research of course. read more

My Dad went to Burt Bros, Sandy, for an estimate. The check engine light was on and an auto parts store diagnosed it as a coil pack problem. A new coil is about $65 and another 15 minutes to replace. Burt Brothers provided an estimate of $1811 for the repair. This is blatantly dishonest and I would not recommend using them for any reason. read more

I didn't have a terrible experience here, but it wasn't a 5 star experience. I came in expressing concern that my starter motor had gone out. After they did their inspection they called me and told me they had to replace the battery. I was resistant to that because I knew it wasn't the battery. Do I need a new battery? Yeah I do, but I expressed price sensitivity because I had JUST bought a new house. I'd like to take care of the most important issue now and they resolve that in a few months. They called me after installing the new battery ($145) and told me my starter motor was bad. They ABSOLUTELY could have tested the starter motor without charging me $145 for a new battery. This situation really put a bad taste in my mouth. If they were more focused on what the customer needs, and going out of the way just a little to please, they would have had a strong returning customer. I'm not sure if I'll be going back or not. Update: (04/22/2016) The Manager gave me a call to resolve my issue and was very sympathetic. He was a nice guy and offered a handful of solutions to my problem above. I appreciate the outreach and time to resolve my problem. However, at this point with my hectic work schedule I think I'll just keep the battery. read more
