We had a effluent pump fail in the basement over the weekend which was getting rather odiferous rather quickly. I cold called Burton on Monday morning at 8am and was exceedingly lucky to have Steve at my residence by 8:30am. He swiftly diagnosed the issue, walked me through various repair options and price points (zero upselling) and I found the pricing to be competitive. He had the entire sewer line replaced with new pump, hardware and applicable pipe in about 3-hours which greatly brought me peace of mind. Even better they offer a standard 2-yr warranty on parts and labor and while he did not expect the need, he encouraged me to call if there was any issue with his repair in the future. Very pleased with the timeliness and workmanship of Steve and Burton today. A terrific experience! read more

We are very frustrated with this company and its ability to show up on time and the day requested. We have not been able to get our AC repaired even though technicians have come out many times in the past couple of months. We received a new unit today -even though the broken unit was purchased recently - they came unannounced and were there all day - the new unit does not work and we do not know when it will be repaired or a new technician out - we are very frustrated and feel in the dark about when this will be fixed. read more

Recently had a water line rupture in my ceiling, Sunday morning. Called Burton and they were extremely accommodating. Steve D. came out and repaired the piping and some other problems with a faucet. He was very respectful and professional at all times and explained every step. Very pleased with his work performed with minimal disruption. The only downside is the cost of repair which, in my opinion, was considerably higher than I estimated. Guess quality comes at a price. read more

Their sales people, their service people, all of them 100% trustworthy and quick don't try to pad things. They don't push for the most expensive item, they tell you what they think you need and you make the decision for yourself. No upselling, no pressure. Burton was contracted out to install a furnace in the home I eventually purchased. According to the technician, they were only tasked to install the furnace and connect the pipes to the existing infrastructure which yeah that's fine most of the time... except in my case the exhaust vent ended in my attic so for a year l've been living in a home that's basically had the equivalent of a car running in it. I only noticed what was going on because my wife noticed some signs of water damage coming from the attic which prompted me to climb up there. It seems like a really simple situation that could have been avoided if the original installer just cared enough to QC their work. If you are here then you probably don't know the ins and outs of these systems like me which is why l'd recommend going to a different company that cares about the quality of their work. What should have been a routine water heater installation turned into a safety hazard. Read our full experience below. ----- I hired Burton to install a new water heater, which was a huge mistake. After the initial installation, I noticed a strong gas smell and discovered that a pipe had been left leaking. If we had been gone or had left for our vacation like we had originally planned (my husband had to miss it due to these issues), I am certain a fire would have started in our basement and/or our basement would have completely flooded due to the plumbers negligence. The plumber later admitted to me that he left that pipe leaking when he returned. The second water heater they installed also had leaking issues - allegedly the first one was a "manufacture error." When I called to ask them to come back to look at the second water heater, they refused to come back the same night to look at it despite the urgency of it substantially leaking. Ultimately, the problem with our water heater leaking was being caused by our PRV which they failed to investigate or look into further until my husband and I did our own education and asked them to. I then had to spend 10 minutes explaining to their plumber on where our PRV was (he told my husband we didn't have one). The initial plumber told me that a new PRV wasn't necessary to fix our issues. Through my 10 minutes of research, I found otherwise. Through another plumbing company, I have also learned that they didn't install an expansion tank with the water heater, which they said is considered code in Omaha. Burton's lack of professionalism, unsafe workmanship, and poor communication throughout the process were unacceptable. Despite all of this, they have refused to refund my labor fee - which I feel is very reasonable for this situation. I have been in communication for them for five weeks and have had to call them back every time as they had horrible communication throughout the whole process when voicing my concerns. Until recently, I was not aware that Burton provided electrical support. One of their electricians came out and went through a complete list of the items that we needed done and provided a detailed estimate. Once approved, we went ahead and scheduled the appointment. Ahead of their arrival we received an appointment confirmation, a notification that they were on the way, and details regarding the individuals providing the service, along with their photographs for security. The electricians were exceptionally professional and friendly. They went above and beyond to ensure that all items identified had been addressed and went as far as taking a moment to answer a few questions about items that were not even on the list. We were so happy with the work that was done that we actually called them back for additional work and specifically requested the same crew. We were pleased to have similar results as our first experience. We referred Burton to a neighbor in the area who also needed electrical work and was dealing with a terminal illness within the family. The team were kind enough to go over provide the estimate and even addressed a quick fix issue ad hoc. Their actions contributed to my neighbors ultimately purchasing an entire home generator because of how great the team was there during their first visit. After tearing up my driveway finishing everything and doing a bad job layin new concrete they charged $27,000 for the job. Ugh Now a few years later, I have a sinking concrete slab and cracks a on my driveway. Going to cost thousands more to repair. Do not recommend. read more

After being called to work on our neighbors sewer line, they failed to tell us they cut off our side of a joined sewer line and refuse to take any responsibility for it. We have had other plumbers look at the problem and they have confirmed this is on Burton. After many attempts to talk with Burton, they won't take accountability and now won't answer our calls. My client was having water come out of her toilet down, when She took a bath or did laundry. The first guy said he was told that there was water on the floor, so assumed it was frozen pipes. He said that a drain expert was needed. He charged $185 for nothing. The "drain expert " tried putting the line in 3 times, to no success. He had the water turned off for 1 1/2 days,knowing 86 year old woman and her dog lived there. He came back the next day, and dug a huge hole in basement,that lead nowhere. The next day he called in sick. Burton was already talking about tearing down drywall, digging up more of the basement , etc. The price was from 10-20 thousand. Southside plumbing came in , and fixed the problem fast Ang effectively. The hole in floor was completely unnecessary. The water was back on quickly, and the charge was $686!!! read more

I knew it was just a matter of time before this became a major issue, so called to get a price and get someone out as soon as possible. Nope. Someone had to come out (about a week), look at it, get me an estimate then schedule a time to do the replacement. Couldn't risk that. We just moved into our first home, and learned that our home inspector neglected to check our AC unit at all. When it wasn't working, we had a technician from another company come check the unit, and it was super clogged and had lots of mold. We got quotes from three different companies, and all were very similar. The reason we chose Burton is because the Comfort Advisor, Ken, who came to give us a quote immediately put us at ease! He explained everything to us, set us up with a free two year VIP membership so we can keep our new unit serviced, and he worked with his boss to find us the best price he could. The very next day, we got our new AC unit. The techs who installed it thoroughly explained each aspect of the new unit. I can't recommend the customer service enough! Within minutes of the new unit being turned on, our house felt the best it has since we moved in! read more

We had some major plumbing issues a few years ago (the horrible summer of 2020!) and got "the service contract" to receive a discount. Last week for our regular maintenance service visit, they tried to tell us that the furnace and AC needed a minimum of 4K in repairs and probably just needed to be replaced altogether. The units we have are only 11-12 years old and we've always been good with maintenance. Decided to get a second opinion from another company and while there were a few minor things that definitely needed to be cleaned/replaced/fixed, they couldn't find much wrong with the units. AND it cost under $500. Glad I got a second opinion -- wasn't planning to sell a kidney to stay cool this summer!! We canceled our service contract and are done with them. Don't recommend. read more

Burton advertises $99 or its free to clear a clogged drain. The came to my mothers home today and proceeded to bring this small wire too to unclog her kitchen sink. He fed it into the drain all the while he stated that this tool will probably not do the trick. He had the larger tool but wouldn't even try to use it unless my mom paid them an additional $500. They have a commercial that states $93 guaranteed to clear a drain. Commercial doesn't mention the service call charge and taxes not included. Technician came out. Said they normally do 1 pass with a snake. He normally does 2 passes. The snake is very small. If he can't open it, I will have to go up in price to a bigger snake. That will cost me $410 dollars. What does $93 guaranteed mean? I feel I was mislead and lied to. Will never call them again. The only reason I am giving a 1 star in rating is the tech was very nice. read more

My experience with Burton has been rather extensive. I contacted Burton to have my furnace replaced at which time they replaced my furnace and my HVAC system. It cost me over $10,000 and I have had to call them back three different times for the HVAC system and twice for the new furnace. I contacted them because I had an emergency plumbing back up over a weekend. The specialist came and met with my wife at which time in order to dig up the pipe and fix the hole. He was going to charge my wife $12,000. Then he marked it down to $7000 until I got home. I told him no and he could leave. To dig a hole 6 feet long and 10 feet deep in my yard they wanted $7000. This repair takes an average of six hours with two guys and a machine. The same repair that I am describing I could do in Omaha for $4000 and still make bank. Thank you for being greedy Burton! Because of this, I am going to buy machines and start doing sewer line repairs. You will put your self out of business because of your greed. I will never use them again and will tell my experience to all of my customers everyday. No escaping this one Burton. read more

They replaced the line connecting the house to under the street. The crew had poor communication skills and did not seem very knowledgeable. Neighbors were complaining that they blocked the entire street and failed to put up a "ROAD CLOSED" sign. If you were coming from the south and have to turn back around it is nearly a mile detour, going back a few blocks just to get to the place where they should've put up the sign. read more

I had Burton install a new heat pump in my condo this May, and it has been a mess. They didn't configure it correctly, didn't include all of the needed equipment, and the install was generally sloppy (messy cabling, duct sealant slopped onto the joints). Plus, despite being a "top of the line" system, it can't keep the humidity below 70%. I've had to run a seperate dehumidifier to keep mold from growing. Called to get it fixed. The first time, the tech though I was concerned with the humidifier (in June), then failed to configure the system. There are DIP switches on the control board, which he flipped randomly and then left. After, I read the manual and set it up correctly; this helped a little, but not a lot. I called at least 3 times to have someone else come out, and they've ghosted me each time. Make that at least 4, as I've written this in the hours since they promised to "call me right back". For $13k, I expected...well I expected a working AC. read more

I had a drain back up last week. Burton came out and assessed the situation without taking the top off of the sump pump area. Immediately claimed the pump needed replaced. Gave a bid for 5011$ for a pump replacement with a pump that costs 380$ on line. So yeah. The per hour charge was outrageous. I waited until Monday to have my regular plumber from Big Burge come out. He removed the cover and said the ball cock was stuck and it was up and running in 5 mins. I have used Burton in the past and people always tell me they are crooks. I believe it now as this was so blatantly obvious. So I asked some other people in the industry and evidently the plumbers from Burton get commission pay so there is no limit to what they will charge. Be aware. read more

If I could rate Burton a ZERO Star it would be appropriate. I have done business with them for 30 years and spent over 100,000 in plumbing, HVAC, and sewer services. The gas company red tagged my house last week due to no venting on my water heaters. Which means carbon monoxide is leaking into the house, and the top of my water heaters are burn't from over heating. Today Burton told me they wouldn't stand behind their labor and they told me to call someone else to work on my water heaters. They don't have resources to fix anything. Untrained techs. Incomplete work. Poor customer service. Not good. We hired them to do a job. The tech was not competent enough to complete the job. We called them several times and talked to different people asking them when they were planing on going back to complete the job. They made it sound like they were going to have a competent tech finish the job. Not only did they not complete the job, they sent us a bill for the full price, as if the job was completed. We told them we received the bill and we would pay it as soon as they completed the job. Instead of working with us to resolve the issue, they put a construction lien on our property and never finished the Job. So if that wasn't bad enough... After they put the lien, we tried to just call back and give them the $1,500 they said we owed them so that we could move on with life and never do business with them again. Not so fast. Now they are making it incredibly hard to just pay the bill. They put a lock on the account and no one can help clear it, except for the people who are apparently not available and won't call us back. I would not recommend hiring this circus. read more

Beware! This company will rip you off. My kitchen sink was clogged, and despite paying a $9.95 monthly fee to be on their service contract, they could not send anyone to my home until the next day. When the guy arrived, he looked at the kitchen sink, then wanted to see the laundry room and bath close by. He went to the basement, then out to his truck for half an hour. Came back in with a folded up estimate. We sat down and he tried to sell me one of 6 "solutions". 1. Premium Plus Solution: $3,210.81 2. Premium Solution: $1,584.89 3. I wish I could have these guys over for a beer-- they are absolute life savers. I called Burton on Tuesday needing extensive electrical work done in my house. Allan came out to the house two days later (Thursday), and he spent several hours taking notes and videos to send to his worker guys. When scheduling the actual work, I explained that I'm a ridiculously busy medical student, and I have two exams and my brother's wedding next week. My only real free time was today, Saturday, only two days after he was at the house. He got two of his workers, Alex and Shawn, to come out to the house this weekend to get the ENTIRE thing done. They knew exactly what they were doing, and they patiently answered all of my nit-picky questions (and man did I have a lot of questions). Shawn and Alex placed three new dedicated outlets, 3 new non-dedicated outlets, fixed two outlets that weren't working, re-wired a bunch of stuff between floors, and ran everything nicely in conduit (see they even taught me new words today!). They did such a good job-- I'm absolutely calling them back after my yard gets trenched to have them put power in my shed and get me some outdoor outlets. 11/10 experience. read more

They ran my check as an ach transaction. It cleared my bank. Then they proceeded to try to run my check 3 more times, and tried telling me I didn't pay. I tried to get in contact with Burton several times regarding their mistake. Nobody bothered to return my call. Fast forward about a month the technician called me to tell me i owe them. My check was returned 3 more times, because I wasn't prepared to pay for the service 3 more times. I showed them my bank statement showing it had already been cleared and where they tried to run it through after I already paid. They could not admit fault, and the gentleman I spoke with acted as if he was doing me a favor by telling me he was willing to "let it go, and he wouldn't further pursue" he had a very condescending tone he used with me. This man also agreed to send a statement showing I was "wiped clean" (even though services have been paid) I have yet to receive that as well. I do not recommend Burton. read more

A little over 4 years ago I had spent over $11,000.00 to have Burton put in a new furnace and A/C. Since then, the furnace is not putting air out down the duct work properly. When you take the skirting off the side of my mobile home you feel a tremendous amount of air conditioning coming out. So as expected they did not hook the furnace to the ducting system. That means I have been cooling and heating up Omaha, NE for over 4 years. There have been 5 techs out here since the beginning and 2 just in the past 2 weeks and nobody wants to take ownership and FIX THE PROBLEM. Kathy, there office lady just called and asked if Eric the dispatcher has called me yet and I told her no as expected. She is sending another message up to him and I'll bet I have to following up again since I doubt, he will call me. I called Burton to replace a valve on a main shut off to the water and a valve behind the refrigerator. Steve and Grant were really nice and they did explain everything to me and of course it was more than just replace valves. I agreed to it as I sure didn't know if it was right or wrong. Grant did the work in 4 hours and I gave him a check for$ $1,450.00. I then asked the company for a print out of the cost and labor. They informed me that they don't do that!! What company doesn't explain to you what the cost are??/ I now feel like I got taken beings I really didn't know anything about what they said and trusted them to be fair with me. I signed up for the VIP program because I liked the notion of a cost estimate before they worked on any issues. What they DON'T tell you is that they charge a huge dispatch fee even if you cannot afford the price of the repair. Even for VIP! The technician or main office never offered remediation for my pricing concerns and I wound up paying over $200 for a leaky outdoor tap (it needed a new washer). (The technician also tracked in outdoor debris into my home) They advertise that they're up-front about their pricing, but I do not find this to be fact.
