My family and I came here for lunch and the wait wasn't long for how busy it looked. We probably waited for about 5mins. I normally get their burgers but today I tried their oriental walnut salad which was to die for!! Everything about it was super light but tasteful, I loved the dressing. Staff were pleasant enough since I ordered takeout online. I got a salad which I knew would be safe for me even with celiac disease, but they clearly labeled it as "allergy" food. The sweet potatoes fries were the bomb as well, though I forgot to ask for ketchup in the comments section when I placed the order. I came here one evening and sat at the bar... They were moderately busy when I got there and there was only one bartender and she was doing a pretty good job of keeping with the service bar area as well as customers at the bar. They have a somewhat basic menu, nothing really exciting on it, except for the entrée I got, crab crusted haddock. The food coming out from the kitchen looked really good, even though their menu is mostly simple or standard. They have a cocktail menu and a somewhat decent wine list. The food I got was really good and fresh. Their started salad with the mustard vinaigrette was really nicely done. The ambiance inside is "sports bar'ish" and might be fine for a quick meeting over food, but didn't seem very romantic nor special to me. Prices are rather high tho. read more

Still Fantastic Across the Board Just went back for some comfort with my mother and sisters. Not every visit to Burton's Grill has been a 5/5 experience, but gosh darn it, they are on a roll lately! They were absolutely packed and YET the service and food were both excellent. How in the world was the wait time hovering around 15-20 minutes with a completely packed restaurant at lunch time? Clearly, this place is well-managed. From the bread, to the sandwiches, to the FREAKING KETCHUP, everything was delicious and exceeded expectations. I repeat: the KETCHUP caught me off-guard. When a restaurant is rocking its ketchup, that's all I need to say. Burton's Grill is a trustworthy, upscale dining experience in Charlottesville. Go for it! P.S. Then we ordered my husband got the crab Benedict I ordered the risotto. Our order finally came and the poached eggs were over cooked to hard. We sent it back and the next one was also overcooked. I called at 5:30pm to make reservations for 7pm. I was told the restaurant doesn't take reservations within two hours of the time in question. I thought that was odd. We got there just after 7 and the place wasn't empty, but it wasn't packed either. Had to wait for a table to be cleared and wiped down. Thankfully, the table was completely dried for us before we sat down. Sounds like nothing, be I hate sitting on a wet seat, It took a while for a waiter to show up with no one checking in with us before he did. He was friendly, but mixed up our wine orders and was rarely seen until he dropped off the check. The food was delivered in good time. I ordered scallops with a corn/green bean parmesan rissoto. All lackluster. The scallops had a good texture, but were bland. My fiance ordered filet mignon. It was mediocre. Not wretched, but not worth the price ($47). The waiter returned with the check and a hand held gadget to insert a credit card. We inserted the card and hit the option to "print receipt." Unfortunately, this means waiting for the server to go to the printer, retrieve the receipt and bring it back to us. The food was mediocre. The service was not very responsive. I felt like I was at a TGIFridays right before they started to shut down. read more

Right now during COVID-19 this restaurant is taking reservations but if you get there at the right time they will seat you. We got there before the rush on a Saturday night and were directed to a booth. Our waitress immediately came over and took our order and it wasn't long before we received our appetizer and then entrées. We decided all the food was so-so. Mine was bland. The Rosemary Parmesan french fries were terrible. They were nothing but regular french fries with rosemary and Parmesan sprinkled on them. The tortilla chips were not crisp, although they were not soggy. They just weren't fresh. I would not go back. The only reason why I'm giving it three stars is because our waitress was outstanding! She kept coming back asking us if everything was OK but all I could think of was that there was nothing she could do to make the food better. read more

I had the Harvest vegetable bowl with salmon. Much larger portion than expected. Brussel sprouts were a little too over cooked for my taste but the balance of the meal was quite tasty. It was our first time at Burtons and we were very disappointed with the food. Our waitress was very kind and accommodating. We ordered calamari to start, which came out cold. The fried jalapeños that were served with it were delicious, but without the tarter sauce, the calamari had little flavor. I ordered the pasta carbonara, which was fairly tasty, and the chicken was cooked very well. My husband, on the other hand, ordered the Rib Eye steak cooked medium rare. (36.95 for a 14oz ribeye, mashed potatoes, broccoli, and bone marrow butter). His steak came without mashed potatoes, undercooked broccoli, and way over cooked steak (see photo). The server brought him a bowl of mashed potatoes, which tasted like any generic store bought mashed potatoes, there were some very rubbery pieces that just tasted like they had been microwaved over and over again. We did send back the steak, and they brought him out a new one that was cooked perfect. We were grateful to the staff who took our calamari off our bill, and fixed my husbands steak. We were very appreciative of the staff being so responsive, but extremely disappointed in the quality of food we were served when considering the price. Unfortunately we will not be back. read more

The food was delicious. I thoroughly enjoyed my fresh fish tacos, and I thought that rosemary and parmesan fries were to die for. I really could have eaten the fries by the bucket. Our server was also so sweet and attentive. However, I felt like the food and the menu were very much on par with that of a chain restaurant. The fish tacos reminded me of something I could get at a Chili's or a Plaza Azteca. I really don't think that they were worth the $25+ that I paid for them. I was also disappointed to see that the wine menu had no local offerings. In such close proximity to so many wineries, I wish there would have been something from nearby. read more

Burtons feels like a solidly good chain restaurant and the food was tasty. One member of our party was gluten free and I will say this restaurant gets mad props for their ability to accommodate this. They had a while gluten free menu and even brought out a gluten free birthday cake slice for the table to celebrate with. That's pretty awesome! On the downside this place was chaotically packed which made for a very noisy restaurant and over-worked wait staff. Also the average dinner plate was over $20. I really do love this place. I typically sit by the bar area. It isn't just "at the bar" seating but first come first come tables just adjacent to the bar. There is also formal dining, but I tend to prefer the free seating area. Obviously I have been here more than once. I do appreciate their drink selection. They have good wine options available and can have great specials! I went last night and they had half off bottle of wine. They have good food and there is at least one vegetarian option that isn't just a salad. I have had it and it was quite delicious and felt healthy eating it, haha. I have gotten the salmon which was grilled to perfection, had an amazing side sauce and crisp vegetables. I have had many restaurants that over cook their veggies to mush, and they do not! He had the Chicken carbonara, which of course sample. It was creamy and delicious as well. I really have no complaints for this restaurant and plan to frequently visit! read more
