Their menu has something for everyone, so when I knew there were 11 of us, which restaurant we went to really mattered. Yesterday I had a fried fish sandwich with crispy sweet potato fries and my husband had salmon in Romesco sauce on a bed of haricot vert and finished with bits of fennel on top. From the happy hour menu (3 p.m. - 6 p.m.), one of our friends had tempura shrimp, one had steak on skewers, and another had large shrimp in a beautiful sauce on toasted bread. We had chips and guacamole and shrimp dishes on the table and they were scraped clean! The food was so good that no one took leftovers because we ate everything! The chairs and bench seats are super comfy so if you're like our group, you're going to want to stay for a while. We kept moving around to talk with others in our group because it was like being in someone's house. The bartender and server were excellent. Nicole, our bartender, made a coffee martini that was better than what my friend expected. She realized that other bars served it wrong! I ordered Don Julio 1942 and they had it. My husband loved his pinot noir and another friend loved her fresh strawberry and mint drink so much that she ordered another! The head on my friend's beer was proper and that was nice. Everyone loved the drinks. Our server, Timiya was stealth. She took orders and even took pics for us with such quietness that the energy at our table was unbroken. As the person who suggested Burton's, I loved that I didn't have to worry about anything. Stephen Fithian, the manager, is really focused on making sure everything is smooth. Nothing gets past him, and judging from the professionalism of the servers and runners, that focus is on every level. Everyone at our table got the right drinks/food. Whether you live nearby or not, I would say that it is worth coming to Burtons Grill. I've been here twice and left with a happy belly full of delicious sensibly made food. Both visits were for birthdays---the first was mine, when I happened to mention to our server that we were celebrating my birthday and she helped make the experience great. She then exclaimed, "You should have told me it was your birthday! We'll give you a dessert. Would you like to take it home?" Which I did, and the Seven Layer Chocolate Cake was thoroughly enjoyed for breakfast on two different days. I still can't get over the fudge layers in the sponge sandwiched by a light, creamy chocolate mousse. The plated cake was much cuter and better dressed with surrounding raspberry sauce instead of it being in a takeout cup, but the divine tastes of that cake are unchanged. Seeing that the majority of their locations are in the north, with the southernmost locations before Florida being Virginia and South Carolina, I feel lucky that we have a location in South Florida (and a second in Boca Raton). The hostesses are friendly, as well as the servers, and each one asks about allergies in the party. I saw on their website that they have a commitment to accommodating food allergies and a protocol for communicating allergies to the staff and kitchen. The most recent visit started with us repeating allergies to our server after telling our hostess, as he wasn't informed of them. It never hurts to confirm that everyone is on the same page but it was a little odd. I'm not sure what those purple allergy cards are supposed to do if they're not written on. However, like I mentioned, they are really serious about food allergies. When we were placing orders, our server would tell us whether there were allergens in the dishes we mentioned. Our server during my first visit even went back to the kitchen to check whether there were eggs in a sauce that were in one of the dishes we were interested in, without being asked. The inside is clean, beautiful and well lit, and the bar is spacious with plenty of screens if you're able to make it in for their happy hour at the bar from 3-6 PM on Mondays-Fridays. We had the guacamole and chips ($9), which had a surprisingly generous portion of genuine guacamole to the point where we ate all of the white and blue tortilla chips that came with it. I asked our bartender if we could get more chips by any chance, and another bartender heard and went straight to the kitchen and came out with a bowl of warmed tortilla chips. I had an Old Fashioned, which was slightly sweeter than I'm used to, but still having great citrus aromas. I recommend having a cocktail on happy hour as they are typically $15-17 on the regular menu while they are $10 during happy hour. For dinner during my second visit, we were seated in a lounge appearing area to the left of the entrance with long couches for the booth seats and an unfinished cut of wood table. Let me tell you about the food before I run out of space! Bread service: I know it's weird to have to pay for bread, but that's the restaurant world we live in. It's worth the $5 to get warm, fluffy bread dressed with everything seasoning and coming with herbed butter, pesto and an olive tapenade, all a choose-your-own-bread-adventure sampler. You can tell nothing on the plate came out of a jar. Philly cheesesteak rolls: Everyone can eat all 3 of the rolls that come in this dish along with the crispy onion rings that come on top of them. Resist the urge and share the tender beef and gooey cheese inside of these rolls. NY strip: Tender, well grilled and seasoned, accompanied by tasty green beans and mashed potatoes made with just the right amount of butter where you taste more potato than butter or cream. Crab crusted haddock: A generous portion of flaky, slightly buttery haddock with an aromatic crab cake on top. We loved the jasmine rice that came with it, from the degree of cooked to a little oil covering. Lobster roll: It was a summer limited item until August 31, and I'm sorry to say it was perfectly buttered, toasted and brimming with plump lobster meat. This place deserves 6 out of 5 stars, honestly. My wife is gluten free, and while Burton's isn't a certified 100% GF restaurant, they run a dedicated fryer and have such a massive gluten-free menu that it genuinely feels as safe and accommodating as one. We started with the focaccia bread, calamari, and onion rings/strings -- all excellent, and a great way to kick things off. For mains, my wife got the deep fried haddock sandwich on a gluten-free bun with a side of sweet potato fries, and she was thrilled she didn't have to sacrifice anything to eat gluten free here. I went with the Prime burger topped with truffle cheese and upgraded to the truffle parmesan fries, which were phenomenal. This was our first visit, and our server James made the whole experience even better -- attentive, knowledgeable about the GF menu, and made sure we felt taken care of the entire time. After my rocky first experience, it was reassuring when a manager personally reached out a few days after the review. Not only was he very apologetic, he seemed like he actually cared about making the situation right. After inquiring a bit more about the service that night he graciously invited me back for another meal. I understand mistakes happens so it's truly about how they're taken care of after the fact. In this case, it was handled well. I decided to come for brunch this time & overall, it was a really good meal. They weren't super busy but service was good. Our appetizers, drinks & meals all came out in a timely manner. For the most part, everything was right but one of the hash brown sides came out cold (it was quickly swapped for fresh ones). My chicken & waffles were delicious. I especially liked how freshly breaded/fried the chicken was. There was a misunderstanding when it came to ordering our drinks, however. I ordered one that should've came iced but got the other coffee beverage which is served warm. When I brought it up to the waiter he was adamant that it's what I ordered & how it's served. After I questioned it once more, he stuck to that, so I kept the drink. Thankfully, it tasted really good & was poured well but it wasn't what I ordered. It was just a bit off putting that he said it was. He said he'd take the drinks off but this was after we went back & forth about it. This isn't a make or break situation for me but he was set in his ways. As a server, you need to be as adaptive as possible, even if you believe you're right. I'm super thankful to have been invited back because it was a nice meal, as I expected. I'm glad I can now tell people to try them out in good conscience. Stopped by Burtons Grill & Bar during happy hour for a quick bite and drinks I tried their firecracker shrimp, and that was definitely the highlight for me -- the breading was really good, the shrimp was well seasoned, and overall it was super flavorful I also gave the steak stew a try, but personally it wasn't my favorite. Martha and I decided to go out for happy hour to celebrate our birthdays and we decided to go to Burton's on University in Plantation. They have a great Happy Hour menu the vibe is very nice the service from Ayden was phenomenal. Have you ever gone to a restaurant then afterwards wondered what took you so long to go there? That's exactly what happened after I finally got to eat at Burtons. We had reservations for 6 o'clock on a Saturday and thank goodness we did because it was already getting busy when we got there. We were seated right on time and the server was there within minutes with menus and to take our drink orders. We were told that everything there was freshly made and made from scratch and believe me you can tell! We ordered the Firecracker Shrimp for an appetizer and these were so full of flavor that every bite was better than the next. For our mains two of us had the Steak Frites, one of us had the Chicken Milanese Alfredo and I had the small portion of the Mediterranean Chicken Risotto. We also ordered the bread service. I don't even know where to begin with how delicious the good was. My small order of risotto made me wonder what the regular portion was, there was so much there! I tried my husband's steak and it was so tender and flavorful. My friends loved their meals as well. The bread service was unbelievable! The bread itself was nice and warm and had everything seasoning on top. It was served with a garlic butter, a pesto sauce and an olive tapenade. Each sauce was full of flavor, it's hard to pick out a favorite from the three of them. My espresso martini was one of the best I've ever had and unique in the fact that it came with a Bailey's foam on top. I'm still thinking of that martini! I fell in love with this place after my first visit. I went here for my mom's birthday and then again for mine! Everything we ate was delicious. My favorite thing about this restaurant is that they have a FULL gluten free menu. The gluten free menu has most of the items from the regular menu but of course with a gluten free twist. Dropped in for happy hour to go over some travel related issues. Great drink service and plenty of flavorful appetizers. A few people were unable to get sitters and brought the little ones along. Love the kid menu. More than just chicken fingers! It's only for 12 and under but it's done in such a colorful and balanced way that kids will be well feed and enjoy it. We were seated immediately, but the service was still very slow. We started with appetizers. The donuts were very moist and sweet a perfect appetizer. Recently tried Burton's Grill & Bar and it was a lovely experience. I fell in love with the indoor decor. It was very trendy with lots of comfortable booth seating. It's the first thing that caught my attention about this restaurant. Our waiter was very attentive and provided good recommendations that we did love! For starters, we ordered the bread service and it was it was a good choice. It comes along with pesto, herb, & garlic butter which was perfection. Our waiter recommended the firecracker shrimp and it was perfection. It comes with 6 crispy colossal shrimp and the cucumber salad really mixed well with the appetizer. For dinner, I ordered the Braised short ribs and the meat was cooked perfectly to the point that it would melt in your mouth. Delicious. It came along with garlic mash and Brussels sprouts. The Brussels sprouts were not my favorite.. barely any seasoning so they were bitter but they were tender. I would probably ask to substitute it if I order that same plate in the future. My husband ordered the Wagyu Ribeye and he was having a mouthgasm the entire time. Definitely recommend. And the presentation with the side salts, sauce, and onions was a very nice touch that aided to the taste of the steak. For drinks, I tried the Desert Flower and Paloma Rosa to stick to a tequila based drink and they both rocked. I loved them. Being able to clearly specify gluten-free and dairy-free is huge for me, and I really appreciate how seamless they make it. My go-to is the Thai steak salad the flavor is incredible. The marinade on the steak is honestly a 10/10 and always cooked perfectly. Everything tastes fresh and high-quality every time I order. I usually get it to-go since it's close to my house, but the restaurant itself is really nice, clean, and inviting if you decide to dine in. A lot of entitled customers feel they walk in wait 10 minutes no reservations and should skip people who waited 15 minutes and had earlier reservations just because they make a scene. Hostess was very uncomfortable and nervous and kept leaving her station to avoid the long wait line. Good problem to have this place is busy but they need more stability at the walk in. Came here with a gluten-free friend and we loved that their gluten-free menu was almost identical to their regular menu! I also added a side of garlic mashed potatoes, which again were just okay. My friend ordered the chicken Milanese Alfredo and felt it lacked flavor. Another person in our group ordered the tuna poke bowl but didn't eat it because it tasted sour, raising concerns about freshness. For dessert, we tried the tiramisu and the chocolate cake. Their "Traditional bolognese" was orange and overcooked (as evidenced but the separation seen between the oil and base...and chunks of meat). Chicken tenders and fries for the kids...chewy. The wings are $19 and are flavorless (Memphis dry rub) call me crazy but they taste like chicken, like when the chicken is reheated. When I said something to the waiter he said, yeah the siracha maple are better.
