Our guide gave us a few suggestions to choose from. I decided to check out Boardwalk Fish & Chips because of its casual relaxed atmosphere. They are know for their halibut fish and chips. They also have beautiful views of the Kachemak Bay from their dining area. We were able to spot some Orcas swimming by while we were eating. Majority of my group ordered the fish and chips. I got the Shrimp Basket with coleslaw. Boardwalk Fish & Chips is open seasonally. Their menu offers a number of seafood classics, burgers, soups and salads. There are several gifts shops and stores on the Boardwalk if you want to do some shopping before or after you eat. This was a nice place to stop in for a quick bite to eat.

The shrimp was hard to pull off and when you go to pull a shrimp off all the batter falls off and the shrimp is unseasoned so it tastes like what you dip it in. The location is beautiful, featuring a very cute outdoor setup right on the ocean with amazing views. I also noticed that everything coming out to other tables looked consistently spot-on, with everyone around us loving their food. As someone who eats gluten-free, the fact that 80% of their menu is GF was phenomenal, and it actually tastes incredible! Their corn tortillas are genuinely the best I have had anywhere. Their flavor combinations are extremely well thought out and expertly executed. We tried the fried rockfish, the halibut cheek, and the Carne Asada. The fish-based tacos were lovely, as the texture was perfect. The flavor profile on the Carne Asada was actually my favorite of the three, but the meat itself was just a little too tough for my full appreciation. Though the wait was a tad long - maybe percieved as much due to my hunger - it was worth the wait. The food was delicious, satisfying, and comforting. The yellow curry had just enough spice, the pork was savory with a hint of sweet and sour as well as being juicy. To use street words - it was grub. And as a person familiar with Compton and crip walking - I know street. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a fully belly with authentic flavors and a low key vibe. Do yourself a favor, treat you and yours to Bong's Bistro and thank me later. 4 out of 5 stars as there was no hostess, no complimentary champagne, and no jacket and tie requirement.
