WOW! Halibut fish and chips were amazing!!! Halibut is hard to cook, but this was incredible! For a deep fried fish, it was moist and succulent. A generous portion of fries were served as well. Wife had the scallops with Cole slaw. She shared one and that too was amazing! It wasn't dry, and it wasn't "raw." Cooked to perfection. Prior to that, we had the clam chowder. That was really good as well! Smokey flavored with a hint of spice . This was different compared to other clam chowders we ate. Also, every single spoonful had clam(s) on it. Heard a local shop owner recommend so headed over. Based on prices and descriptions expected to have our special fish meal in Homer. Wait was over 35 minutes when told 20-25 but all good as they have a 'waiting room'and the lady looking after people was obviously trying to do everything. The smoked salmon dip was amazing...it deserved to be in a proper dish rather than a plastic pot! Clam chowder was very tasty. Salad with entree was just leaves and croutons and 1 piece of tomato. Make an effort! Our entrees unfortunately came out cool. Baked halibut was very tasty when reheated. Seafood sampler was dry and very small. For over 50 bucks I was expecting to be wowed. It seems they need more staff and a little attention to detail and it would justify the prices. We so wanted a special experience and were left a litle disappointed. Saw the reviews and decided to drop in for lunch at Captain Patties on a weekend. The greeting and service were super friendly from the start. Our server went over the menu and made some great recommendations to get us started. Having a drink and checking out the amazing view was a real experience. Had the Seafarer platter, a mix of halibut, salmon, shrimp and scallops. Absolutely delicious. The spit is touristy and parking is a challenge, but Captain Patties is so worth it. This last time the food was good, but it didn't sweep me off my feet like before. First off they didn't have a special. So that was weird. So I ordered the blackened salmon and it arrived not blacked, just lightly seasons. Hmm. It was cooked perfectly, but it wasnt what I ordered so, eh. The veggies were fine. I wish it came with a baked potato or a roll. Without a carb I was left feeling... empty. Thankfully the salad came with their amazing house dressing that I loved. So we ordered dessert. It was OK. It was very creamy and luscious, but the nuts that were in it ruined the vibe. My husband loved his dinner. Overall is was all well presented and delicious. The best part of our meal was Hannah, our server, and the view, which was AMAZING! My husband's scallops tasted funny and I couldn't even eat 1 bite, I spit it out. We decided to try this place as they had great reviews and were greeted right away with a friendly face. My family of 4 enjoyed the views from this place. We received water and it took a little time for the waitress to come by. We decided to try an appetizer, the calamari and got 4 meals. Pretty pricey place. We tried the clam chowder which was good. We had the fried halibut, baked halibut, the baguette and halibut tacos. For the price of everything and this being the halibut capital, the prices were outrageous. Our total was $210 for 4 of us to eat. If we could have a do over we would have gone somewhere more reasonably priced. Was not worth it for the money we spent. read more

I got the Alaskan weathervane scallops grilled absolutely incredible tender largest scallops I've ever seen in my life coleslaw with it and clam chowder. The service was very good very nice people. Halibut was delicious. Excellent service team. Authentic ambience. Must visit. Seafood is not cheap in Homer but it's worth it.

I hardly ever write reviews but feel compelled to say that this was honestly the worst piece of salmon I've ever had at a restaurant. It's a shame because the service and view were wonderful! But the $41 piece of fish was not only cooked until it was chewy, it tasted like it had surely been frozen. I literally ate 1.5 bites and left the rest. I would have returned it but they had accidentally messed up my order and gave us a free seafood platter, but the salmon and halibut were basically the same - overcooked and tasteless. I'm not exaggerating when I say the best thing on my plate was the baked potato with butter and bacon bits. Hopefully it was an off night, but I take my chances elsewhere if looking for fresh well cooked fish. read more

Our first visit to Homer, AK and first meal was at Captain Pattie's! Recommended by our friend who used to live here. We were not going to need a lot of food, but in the Halibut capital of the world, we had to get Halibut. We did it Fried Fish and Baked potato and salad. Thankfully had a view of the water otherwise would have just been a joke an of experience for just decent food. If prices were 1/2 of what they are then it would be fine but honestly regret going here versus to another place down the street with similar views but better food. We hadn't been here in years but at the time of the year and the day of the week we were in Homer it was one of the few options available. We had a brand new server who was pleasant but admitted she was new and was still trying to figure things out. There were a couple of items we ordered that she had to come back and tell us they were out of and one order she had to come back later and clarify but we weren't in any hurry and she was pleasant about everything so no harm no foul. The food was good when it came, not life changing but much better than average. I had a nice ribeye along with a good side salad and I was happy with my food. The rest of the group had various seafood dishes and they were all okay with their dishes as well. The view out onto Kachemak Bay was pleasant, the decor is typical seaside seafood restaurant. The prices are fair in relationship to the quality of the food and we would definitely eat there again. read more

Lovely view and excellent food. The oysters were just plucked from the sea. The fish and chips were excellent and plentiful.

Definitely worth the wait, and by wait I mean the only place on the pier where putting your name in early matters. No alcohol in the waiting area so be prepared. No splitting the tab so one ticket per table- the gratuity was not added so tip the server they work hard. The pecan crusted halibut in dill sauce was delicious! The sampler was popular by 3 at our table and raving compliments from all 3- they all agreed that the batter dip was light and crispy. Steamer clams were the best we had on the Spit. When we arrived they said we're sorry but all the tables are full unless you want to sit in the area that doesn't allow alcohol, really? Reminds me of the Seinfeld show where they dealt with the same issue, anyone can take a reservation, the key is to hold what you promised during the reservation...
