Very high quality sandwiches. I had the Jessie's Grill and it was one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. The chicken was actual sliced breast meat, not thin deli type meat. The combination of ingredients was well balanced and had a nice amount of heat. It was served on thick toasted sourdough bread. It was large enough that I was able to save half to eat later. My wife had the Reuben and it was generously sized, she said it was excellent also. The quality and amount of food is a good value compared to some of the other restaurants in town. Oh my goodness this sandwich (The Mariner) was good!!! It was the perfect way to start the day being a tourist in Homer. The chicken was so tasty, and the texture was perfect for the sandwich. The sauce tied all the veggies, chicken and bacon together. I think my ONLY complaint was that it was really small and a little confusing that we had to sit in the next door Boba place. Incredible food! We make sure to come here whenever in Homer. Absolutely fantastic sandwiches and salads. As a connoisseur of Cobb salads, I think Mike's is the best I've had. In a tiny Alaska town packed with outstanding places to eat, Mike's sits near the top. From the outside, it looks like a large coffee stand. Although they do have insanely good coffee, a coffee stand this is not! This is a full-on restaurant. It's hard to articulate a theme throughout the food, they've got a bit of everything from classic sandwiches to more inventive scrambles and even some stuff with seafood because: Homer. I'd say the common thread is that everything tastes so BRIGHT and FRESH. You order at the counter and get coffee refills at the counter, I love this setup. I can get coffee when I feel like I'm ready. I'm not at the mercy of a pour that may never come. The décor here is great. Quirky, playful, fun. And, I have to mention, they have my all-time favorite hot sauce here: Secret Aardvark from Portland, OR. My sister just shipped me a case of it. That's how much I love it. This is the first place I've ever seen it in Alaska! On Sundays they also have an extra-special brunch menu. One of the menu items had the word "Broder" in it, and was inspired by one of my favorite places to eat when I lived in Portland. Mike told me they regularly take trips to the lower-48 for inspiration for new dishes. Just go here. ONE LAST THING: Mike's is actually open in the winter, many of the other great spots in Homer (La Baleine Café, Finn's Pizza, Little Mermaid) are very much CLOSED from Sep-April. OK, I must admit that I have never had a turkey sandwich like this! Both my husband and I enjoyed the sandwiches, I had a turkey sandwich that had avocado on sourdough bread, and he had a spicier sandwich that had jalapeños. This place has the best sandwiches that we have ever had anywhere! Highly recommended, would love to go back someday. This was our second visit here. First time we had breakfast and it was pretty good! The place is super tiny and the staff are very kind and helpful. This time we ordered takeout with all of the COVID precautions happening. We ordered Jesse's Grill and the Main Street. They were both really good! Great flavors on both, I only wish they came with chips or a pickle. You can buy chips but it should come with them in my opinion. This was our second time eating from here, the first time being a few months ago during our last trip to Homer. I was not super happy with the first experience as they brought out my order incorrectly, twice. The food was also just okay during that trip, we only ate breakfast. This second time though, wow!! We did carry out because of the coronavirus. We got a tomato type soup, with bread, a Cobb salad, a BLT sandwich with avocado and onion added, and a Franklin sandwich. Everything was super fresh, I had the BLT and was blown away by the amount of bacon you get and that everything was fresh and tasted wonderful. I'm not sure if it was just a bad day during my first experience, but I'm glad I gave this place a second chance during our most recent trip. Mike's has been open about a year now, and it just keeps getting better. They've added some amazing subs and their Sunday brunch is the best in town. When we came here we didn't realize that all orders are done online. So we pulled out and ran some errands as we waited for our sandwiches. The sandwiches were ready but faster than expected which was a pleasant surprise. We only had to text our name to get the order so it was all super quick and easy. We ordered the mariner and the lambo. Both were incredibly delicious but the lambo was a personal favorite. The lambo was especially flavorful. We also got ice cream floats that were very good but a little light on flavor. I got the coconut cream soda and he got the peaches and cream. The flavor of the soda is so mellow you mostly taste the ice cream. I think I will get something with just soda next time. This is a cool little brunch place. The menu is simple and easy to understand. The area might look small at first but there is a separate eating area right next to kitchen and ordering area. You can order in the hut that says Mike and they will bring your food to you in the hut that says Alaska Eatery. The area is still kind of small. There are a couple of tables for about 4 people and one round table for about 6. There is water and cups in the sitting area along with an array of hot sauces to choose from. The food was ready pretty quick. I got the waffle. It was $10 and I was still pretty hungry after however it's probably the best waffle I've had. My partner for the half serving of biscuits and sausage gravy. It was very yummy but if you're a big eater you should prolly get the full serving. My bro got the big daddy meal which looked like a good classic breakfast meal with bacon eggs and potatoes. All in all it was a yummy brunch to have in Homer.
