Last night me and my friends that are girls went, and one of the bartenders was extremely rude to all of us, and the proceeded to be rude for the rest of the time we were there. She was nice to all of the guys around us, and at one point told me and my friends that we couldn't hang out near the bar because we were there for 'no reason'. Mind you this was when the bar was emptying out so it was mostly an empty bar. Bushwhackers is definitely the spot around the Portland Metro area if you're looking to go line dancing! The bar/restaurant/dance floor includes an online menu with a variety of American style foods that leave you feeling full. There are pool tables as well as indoor and outdoor seating available, but on a busy night most of the seating is taken around the dance floor. They offer dance lessons Thursdays through Saturdays at 7:30 and the real dancing takes place after then till close. They do require an ID anytime after 7pm each night as there is an open bar available, but anytime before 7 it functions as a regular restaurant with all ages allowed. The one downside is that on busier nights there is not a lot of standing room once it hits peak times and the inside can get a little hot so I would recommend wearing something a little cooler if you're planning on dancing. read more

Definitely a vibe, I can see how someone might enjoy or not enjoy it. Really depends on your preference, but it's certainly an experience either way. Didn't partake in any of the dances, but my friends seemed to love it. Honestly surprised by the food. The table ordered nachos to share. And I had really low expectations, but it definitely surpassed them. It's a huge platter and they came more loaded than I anticipated. I also had the chicken quesadilla, which again surprised me. Bigger than I thought it would be, and with way more filling. A little greasy, but lets be real, that IS to be expected. The only let down is the service. Good mix of swing and line dancing. It's hit or miss depending on the dj. I've danced in many states across the country and DJ Sarah is by far the worst DJ I've danced in front of. She's rude when you request songs and she'll tell you to stop screaming when you're dancing and having a good time. We didn't dance because it wasn't clear what kind of dancing was ok for each song. Our group had a great time at bushwhackers! However, you need to know what you are doing to hit the dance floor. We are line dance newbies and were surprised at how well coordinated and choreographed the large group on the dancefloor was so we mostly people watched. There was a $5 cover and the place was packed but we had great service at the bar! Super busy, seems like a cool to place to be on a Saturday. But just not fun! I'm half Mexican and honestly did not feel welcomed there. I was so excited to go. From the start the door man just looked like he hated his job. At the bar the bartender was having attitude and then when I went to go mingle not a single person spoke to me. Fun and entertaining, I ducked in here for happy hour with a buddy on Friday and don't regret it. We had both heard of this place, but neither of us had been before. I'm not a country western type of person but was very entertained with the line dancing that takes center stage at this country western bar. I don't usually make reviews but I'm pretty upset. One bartender in particular tonight treated me pretty horribly. Preface, I am a bartender myself, and have a family owned bar so I GET IT. And this was not it.. I arrived at 7pm with my husband, ordered 2 beers for $10 with one bartender and tipped $4 (cash) and got great service with her. We went to gamble in the lottery room, but quickly lost our cash that we brought with us. No biggy. That's life. We go back to the bar to open a tab with our card (different bartender this time - this one was skinny, light brown hair, fake lips). I order two more beers for my husband and myself, and ask to see the food menu. She asks if I want to keep the tab open. I say yes. She swipes my card, went to give it back, but said she had to hold onto it because it couldn't be read to hold on file. No worries. She can hold onto it. 10-15 minutes goes by, and I order 2-3 food items to add to our table, and one more beer. I also ask for our card to pull money out of the ATM so we can gamble more. She rolls her eyes at my husband and I and says, "you'll have to close your tab and then reopen it and I don't have time to do that". Unfortunately, for her, we had to close our tab to use our card at the ATM and that just sent her over the edge. I gambled hundreds at this bar, and tipped her very well even though she was being rude. And continued to tip her well after she continued to be rude and act like me (a customer who spent $800 on lottery / food / drinks) was being an inconvenience. As we were leaving, I asked for a strawberry kamikaze shot. She told me she couldn't make it because she didn't have strawberry puree, that she could only do regular. I said "do you have strawberry vodka? You could use that?" She rolled her eyes and walked away, and proceeded to make the drink as follows.. Approximately .5 oz of vodka (1 second pour) Approximately .75 oz of triple sec Approximately .75 oz of lime juice I couldn't even drink the shot it was so horribly sweet. I usually wouldn't say anything because usually, I GET IT, but this is a tactic you would use on someone you're trying to cut off. Not someone you're irritated with because they had to close their tab more times than you'd prefer. If a bartender of mine ever treated a customer like that I'd be MORTIFIED. I hope the owners do some investigating. I'd like to preface that this all happened between 7-9pm on Saturday, August 31st. It was not busy yet and we were not being obnoxious, we were not intoxicated etc. Really poor service. The food was decent though. read more

I will never come back to this place. So first off we had to pay a $5 cover charge - the two bouncers LAUGHED at us because we gave them 1 dollar bills. We asked if there was a problem and they laughed in our faces again? We were there for a bachelorette party, about 10 of us, and one of the girls spilt a drink. This resulted in the entire group being cut off by the bartender. Why? Because a very normal accident happened? And then since we they would no longer serve us, we thought we would try to learn a dance. When we went onto the dance floor, the bouncer immediately left his post to tell us we needed to get off the dance floor unless we were dancing. WE WERE DANCING. Literally what is with the employees here? This is the most stuck up, up tight, RUDE establishment I've ever been to. I thought country folk were supposed to be nice? LOL what a joke. The dancing and the dance instructor were awesome, he was great and fun and people on the dance floor were friendly however the bartender we had was sooo ridiculously nasty I would never go back. Visited this place for my wife's friends birthday. It was interesting but not too bad of a spot. It definitely gets packed and can be difficult to find a table if you're not dancing. Drinks were stiff and the nachos were large, but decent. Service was ok. Something you might find at a busy spot but definitely could be improved. Those that were dancing looked like they were enjoying themselves and that's what matters. The lighting is a bit dimmed/dark in most of the areas with some lighting by the tables. Pretty normal, I'd say. There is a $5 cover fee (I cannot remember if it kicks in at a certain time but be aware). Overall, it was a decent spot but you may enjoy it much more! read more

Paid this local dance bar my first visit as someone out of state, it was decent. The floor was active and they had a decent selection of songs. Bartenders were attentive and accommodating. There were some bits that annoyed me: Space was limited inside, it felt there was no room to breathe at times. The DJ didn't take song requests. There were also some disrespectful members swing dancing that would intrude into the space in the center even though there was CLEAR instructions that swing is at the outsides and line dancing at the center. It was really weird because my friends are on the dance team at our university so I know they know how to dance. I've only been here for lunch do to the close work establishment proximity, so I don't know anything about any fancy dancing in in sh*t kicking boots. What I do know about is the burgers, fries and service. Of course I have never made if past the gut buster... Who could say no to beef, cheese, Canadian bacon and egg?! Its a delicious bar burger. The one thing that keeps this place from being a 4 stars for me is the service. Sure, their staff is very friendly, but they a missing a little pep-in-their-step. If you are from out of state or have recently gotten a Real ID from anywhere do not spend time here. Upon entrance the bouncer spent ten minutes checking my ID (UV flashlight, address verification etc), but was incredibly condescending in tone and attitude. After being allowed in and ordering a drink - I was asked back by management to provide another acceptable form of ID. The manager appeared to have no interest in the situation and the female staff member continued to be condescending in tone- which escalated the situation. They refused to scan or look up my ID in any way and denied me from providing proof of purchasing this ID from the Washington Licensing department. The state of OR requires masks to be worn in spaces like this however all staff were maskless, there was no enforcement of mask policy, and no verification of vaccination status (which can also serve as an alternative form of ID due to the listing of the recipient's birthdate). read more

Bar closes at 1am. At 12:20 lights started shutting off. They bombarded us at 12:30 and 4 employees forced us out the front door EXTREMELY rude. I have never met a meaner group of people. Was in Oregon for the past week and had an overall very good time. However if anyone is looking to country dance I highly recommend doing your research. If you are traveling to Oregon soon or anytime in the near future AVOID Bushwackers bar. Had to pay a cover for slow service and a disgustingly hot bar. While the regulars will come by on the dance floor and tell you to get lost, the staff and management care more about making their friends happy than serving patrons. I got kicked out for doing a simple princess dip, a relatively harmless and safe dip, about 5 seconds after said dip, a blonde female security "bouncer" came up yelled at my girlfriend and I, we were treated very poorly by staff and management saying that I was warned multiple times not to dance in such a manner. We attempted to plead with the female bouncer asking when we were warned about any violation of the bar rules, as this was the first time any employee of bushwackers had spoken with us. Mind you we were there for 20-25 minutes and 4 line dances played in a row. After asking for the security females name and her rolling her eyes and walking away, I asked if I could speak with her manager. The manager Michelle was nice overall, but definitely was new and didn't have the experience to handle a situation and provide customer service to patrons at the bar under her management. We were told that we had done actions that we didn't do, and that she is going to believe her staff and that we could leave. She did allow us to get our cover back. Overall gave us a bad taste in our mouth for the country dancing scene in Oregon. Definitely do not recommend anyone stop here unless you want to be scolded like a toddler at preschool :) read more

Apparently the staff are allowed to wear MAGA hats and let's just say the amount of angry white dude testosterone was at a high on the Thursday I visited with my girlfriends. I actually asked my friends to walk me to my car because the creep vibe was off the charts. So... Thursdays they do line dancing and my girls dragged me out. Get there early if you want the lesson- the space fills up fast. I was late so I didn't get to participate, but my girls stuck it out for a 45 minute lesson and had fun. Our service was absolutely terrible- I think I saw the waitress maybe twice the whole night and in the end she ran our card for someone else's table so we had to wait around for her to sort it out.
