In a rare move, I didn't take a photo. 3.5 Stars. Above-average suburban, casual dining Mexican food. Chips were tasty and hot, salsa more than decent. Two types of fish tacos were worthy. A few other dishes - including Guacamole - were good, but nothing spectacular. Pozole was kinda weak. Mezcal Margarita hit the spot on a hot day. No real value as they're located in Bridgeport Village, but not a rip-off either. While Choza wouldn't be top of mind if I'm craving Mexican, I'd go back especially with a small group. One of the best things is the convenient free parking nearby, which makes the visit very easy. ​I ordered the Asada and Carnitas Tacos and a cup of Pozole. While the tacos were decent, the Pozole was the highlight of the meal--served with fresh avocado and crisp vegetables on top. It tasted very fresh, and I highly recommend it! ​The staff members were friendly, and the restaurant has a great, welcoming atmosphere. Oh Choza Choza Choza. I wanna LOVE you guys, but it's just a like. We went on a Friday evening and it was busy (expected). We didn't have to wait super long though, about 15 mins. We were seated and promptly served chips and salsa which was yummy. The restaurant is LOUD when it's busy so you'll be yelling to hear each other. The layout is kinda interesting...it's just one large room with a bunch of tables. Then the open kitchen and bar to the side (separated by a wall). We got the carne asada fries to share and these were delicious. 9/10. Huge portion too! For my son, he got the ceviche. It's just shrimp, would be cool if they added more seafood. Dish was $25+. He said it was an 8.5/10. I got the garlic butter shrimp enchiladas, also for $25. Like why is everything so overpriced. For the quality / taste, def not worth $25. The enchiladas were just okay. Happened to stumble this place in Bridgeport village as I was looking for some vegan and vegetarian options while I was in the Tualatin area. We sat outside on the small 3 person tables along the sidewalk as it was a beautiful evening. Parking is free nearby in the parking garage. Our waitress was friendly and helpful and confirmed our food choices were truly vegan or vegetarian. The menu was a bit confusing because some item were listed as vegetarian but they gave no vegan notation, so we had to confirm our food choices. We got the chilaquiles nachos style large order but it was plenty for sharing for the three of us. The nachos were delicious and beautiful presentation. We also got chips and salsa. It was a great spot to find in Bridgeport. The place is very spacious and welcoming. The food was amazing, I am still recovering from the food coma from lunch. The staff were very nice, friendly and helpful in explaining more about the dishes. I picked a dish based on the waitress suggestion and it was spot on good and quite filling. There is a general area and also bar area with few more taller tables & chairs. There is a good big menu so everyone can find something, you can't leave this place leaving hungry. The menu also has options for vegan & gluten free, mocktails and real alcohol. We got chips & salsa and also a side of guacamole, which were all good. What a baffling menu. A salad with anchovies in it is listed as vegetarian while the meat-free watermelon salad is not marked vegetarian. How could anyone with dietary restrictions trust anything in this restaurant? It's easy enough to read through with the salads but is there lard in the tortillas? Chicken stock in the sauces? The ambiance has some nice elements but isn't over the top in terms of originality... but do people really come for that part anyway? I ordered some tacos and they were legit. The corn tortillas were fresh and warm, and the guacamole was not too salty or bland... just right. A little bit more on the expensive side for this caliber of family restaurant, but that seems to be more and more common these days. A friend and I met at Choza and decided to stay as we saw their happy hour specials. We first sat in the dining area and ended up moving to the bar as the specials we saw outside were just in the bar. The waitress didn't seem too happy to move us. We ended up moving our own items over and got situated. Our waiters seemed like they were nice, especially once we decided on our orders. My friend is sensitive to gluten and had a few questions. Some of the items he asked about said they were gluten-free on the menu, but the servers told us they were not. This happened a couple of times, and so my friend ended up getting a couple of chicken tacos. I got the street quesadillas and a side of refried beans. Wow, and wow again! Our food was delicious! I like how the quesadillas were made. They were individually wrapped and stuffed with tons of pull able cheese, acocado, and poblano peppers. Everything came together so well, and I loved that it was topped with lettuce, crema, and cojita cheese. Omg! Every bite was amazing, and I loved the price. To wash it all down, I got their berry margarita that was not super sweet and had tons of flavor. One is enough, so keep that in mind! Minus one star for the service as the staff needs to be a little more knowledgeable about the items and that they can not guarantee their drinks or food can be gluten free--even if they say they are. It's okay if they do not know or can not guarantee it. I would come back for another margarita and their street quesadillas. The chips and salsa were fabulous as well. The chips were crispy, and the salsa had a nice kick to it, which made sropping myself from eating more very difficult. I'm so glad there are to go boxes! read more

Visited at the end of January 2025 on a pretty slow weeknight. Tldr; There are some solid food options in Bridgeport village, but this place isn't one of them. Come here to snack on chips and salsa while you drink some strong margaritas. That's pretty much the only value here. The good: Drinks poured strong. Tortillas were unique, nice and thick. Chips and Salsa were tasty. The street tacos were filled to the brim with their respective meat fillings. The Barbacoa taco was especially full and juicy. Would have definitely been better if it had 85% of its current meat and got some pickled veg or something to contrast with the dense and fatty shredded beef. The bad: The Carne Asada plate was about as bland as other reviews have previously mentioned. It was barely redeemable with the included chimmichuri. The onions atop the carne asada were raw. They looked like someone forgot to cook them until a minute before the steak was done. All raw-onion bite and no caramelization. The guacamole, while being nice and chunky with avocado, tomato,and onion, was incredibly bland. Not a hint of lime, garlic, or salt to be found here. The grilled fish street taco drowned in sour cream, to the point where I couldn't taste the fish or the scant veg until I scraped most of it out. Sour cream overpowering the flavor of "seasoned" grilled fish and veg is not a great look. The Al pastor tasted like it came out of a premade big box store Al pastor kit. Lots of filling, but not lots of flavor. A few token pineapple bits included, but none meaningful enough to enhance the flavor of the taco. read more

The waitress with the star tattoos on her face was extremely unprofessional and rude. I ordered the basic burrito and she asked if I wanted red sauce with that. I said yes, assuming it was just sauce on the side. She failed to mention this "special red sauce" (probably just bottled la Victoria tbh) was $5.00 extra. When I got my bill and saw the added on "super burrito" charge, I asked her what it was. She told me it was the sauce and proceeded to snap at me when I said she never mentioned anything about an up charge to me. She then threw my bill at me and walked away. This woman should learn how to do her job properly because a simple explanation would have gained her a tip and more service. How this restaurant's rating is not higher is beyond me. If I can make a case for it, I am an L.A. guy and I am picky about Mexican food. It either needs to be truly authentic like the street food back home or it needs to blow me away with presentation and quality. If you're looking for the hole-in-the-wall spot that serves Tia Carmen's mole recipe out of a questionable kitchen, this is probably not the spot for you. But if you are looking for a spot with excellent food, quick service, and while I didn't drink tonight what looks like an excellent array of adult beverages, not to mention surprisingly low prices for what you're getting (at least in my opinion,) this place fits the bill. In terms of what I had....I had a hankering for nachos and a limited range due to some car problems and this was just the opposite side of the freeway from my gym, so I gave this place a chance and got the Table Nachos. Said car problem is limiting my mobility for a few days so I figured a serving for two (or more) would be a smart plan so I had lunch tomorrow as well. The Table Nachos are phenomenal. They aren't what I would consider "traditional" in that they use black beans and an array of spices and seasonings that don't match the "dirty nachos" that I am used to getting from my favorite L.A. spots. But the carnitas was perfectly seasoned, the fresh slice of avocado well-suited for the array, and the serving size perfect for half-now half-later. I'll also add that the house salsa served with the complimentary chips and salsa you get when you enter is among the best I have ever had. Flavorful and perfectly paired with the tortilla chips. As to the service, I can say that as a solo diner on many occasions I get a lot of different reactions. Usually the worst is from waitresses who figure a guy in his 40's by himself trying to order economically is going to leave a bad tip. (Hint: when treated right my tip is more in-line with what I would give if I had brought a date, if not more, since I know that serving a single diner can seem like a lost income opportunity.) I was treated well from the moment I walked in to the moment I left. The restaurant is well-run, clean, lit just right, and the people are friendly. This is now my favorite Mexican restaurant in PDX metro. I split time between here and Los Angeles but I will be back, hopefully with friends next time. They treated me great as a solo diner but I would definitely suggest to come with a date or friends or family, bring your appetite, try different things, and don't be in a hurry if possible. There is something special about this restaurant. You need to experience it. read more

This is one of my favorite places to go for happy hour! It has some of the best deals for food and drinks. It's really spacious on the inside and there are lots of tables. There is also some outdoor seating, which is really nice in the summer. When we went we were seated quickly and our server was super attentive. I got the happy hour chicken taquitos and a strawberry margarita. It was a lot more food than I was expecting! The taquitos were super crispy and the chicken wasn't too dry. There was the perfect amount of cheese and the cream sauce and salsa paired nicely with the taquito. The strawberry margarita was also tasty! It wasn't too strong and I could taste both the strawberry and tequila. Honestly the best part is the chips and salsa for the table! Even though it seems free, there is a small fee per person on the check. I'm not sure if it's stated any where on the menu, but I didn't see it. I decided to grab lunch after hanging around Bridgeport Village, so I stopped in at Choza. I was seated immediately. The restaurant has Mexican tiles on the walls, a vertical row of booths that separates the bar and restaurant, is spacious, and has seating both inside and outside on the sidewalk. There is music playing, but the high ceilings allow you be able to hear what others are saying. I was given complimentary chips and a smoky salsa. My server was incredibly prompt and attentive. He also accommodated my requests. I wanted slushee Blood Moon (reposado tequila and blood orange purée) margarita and a super burrito without the Mexican rice, and he was able to grant those requests. My burrito was a generous size, and I will have leftovers for later. The margarita was strong and delicious. I will be back to Choza when I'm shopping in the area. read more

Wow, what a night. We were sitting in the bar when a man started seizing. The lady behind the counter came flying to the rescue and helped him out immediately with a few other bystanders. I later found out her name was Robin and was the manager on staff. I could tell she had amazing leadership skills by how she was able to react to the medical emergency and delegate tasks to her crew to make sure this customer was taken care out. You could tell the other staff respected her immensely as they were willing to do whatever it took under her direction to make sure the emergency was tended to and successfully kept the restaurant running smoothly. This is a nice date night type location if you want Mexican food but want some place a little "fancier" feeling. The food and the service leave much to be desired though. The two most important things to me when I venture out to eat is FOOD and SERVICE. We came in for dinner after looking through Yelp for a new place to try. There was about a 20 minute wait on a Thursday night. So be prepared to wait during dinner hours. Once seated we waited a long time for our server to take our drink and appetizer order. We ordered margaritas, pozole, and stuffed jalapeños. The margaritas tasted water down, the pozole was ok and the jalapeños were so over fried and burnt that one of them was completely empty inside. We were also given a basket of chips with salsa which is usually our most favorite thing. The chips also tasted burnt and the salsa is VERY bland and watered down. FYI Only the 1st basket of chips is complimentary with your meal. It's $2.50 to refill but if you get burnt tasting ones like we did you won't want a refill anyway. It was a long wait for our entrees to arrive. Our server never came to check on us or offer drink refills. We ordered chicken fajitas and chili verde. The fajitas were very bland and the beans and rice toppings were lukewarm. The chili verde was better than the fajitas but still just ok. When our server finally reappeared we let him know that the appetizers were burnt and empty, our chips were burnt tasting and that some of my food was barely warm. He blankly stared at us then took our payment card and was gone for another 15 minutes. He dropped off the bill to be signed, without another word, and hurried away again. It is a "fancier" atmosphere but the quality of the food and super slow, inattentive, service wasn't worth the hugely inflated prices for below average Mexican food. There are SO MANY other Mexican kitchens in the area that have great food, better prices, and wonderful service that we won't return here. I prefer sticky tables and foil wrapped tacos over this place. read more
