Let's start with the food. My husband said his was great. He is have major tummy issues today. This is the only place we have eaten out. My food was undercooked from what I ordered. The guy sitting behind me said the bread in his sandwich was like a brick, the bread was so dry and burned he could not bite into. The tables were not bussed so the place looked filthy. Next we have hand washing the water is no where near warm in the ladies restroom. The pressure is better I am guessing someone had been out to check it and hoping they will be back. Wash your hands for approximately 20 seconds with warm running water and soap, and then dry them with clean paper towels, or an air dryer. No running water just metered water. I counted 4 or 5 health violations. The best I can say is I have been in one worse place in the Portland area. I am sure I will not be welcomed back after this. read more

Always looking for a new place to try a girlfriend and I thought we would give the CI a chance. It is somewhat of your typical bar dark with dark furniture and the locals hanging out. Obviously, it's a great place to hang out as the the locals were laughing and having a really enjoyable time. We decided to try the two drinks that the bartender recommended. Drinks are on the list and the photo. We were not disappointed. She knows her stuff. We both ordered sandwiches which were stacked high with the fixings and both were very flavorful. Look no further, first off the Bloody Mary's are the "BOMB", and there breakfast menu, well it's all good , but if you want unique and delicious, then you must try the 2 cheese enchiladas and eggs with hash browns. We would frequent a business next door to the CI bar and had never stopped by, my friend and I decided to give it a try. It has a dive bar feel, they do have lots of seating and looks like they host Karaoke, they also offer pokers and a good size menu of food. We had some beers but decided that a particular oder kept us from staying and trying their food. They do offer sandwiches, burgers and your typical bar food. The staff was not very friendly, we sat ourselves and eventually went to the bar to order our drinks. Dive is the vibe here, outside and then inside. The usual crowd gathers around the bar for their usuals. They exchange the usual insider gossip and boisterous camaraderie. And while you're not part of the clique, you'll not feel unwelcome or uncomfortable and you won't be neglected either. Here you will find simply the best clam chowder I've had in a long time. They make it in-house from scratch and it simply is amazing. Whatever else you get, have some chowder. The rest of the food is all good, solid renditions of classic pub sorts of food, good burgers, sandwiches, etc. The kitchen here is on-point. The tap selection is short, but good beers as you'd expect in Portland. This place is known for frequently serving having live music in the evenings, one of the few places in the area that still does. They're also known for keeping late hours, so a good place to know about about midnight. They have a private parking lot... with about eight or ten spaces, but there's parking around the area. There's no children's menu and this isn't a place for children. When you come, don't forget to order the clam chowder. read more

Came here with a large group of friends after seeing a movie at Regal Bridgeport. Very close to the theater and very accommodating to a group seven people. They had great music and karaoke! I came out here on a date a couple of nights and it was Taco Tuesday. We ordered drinks at the bar and then sat down and decided we were hungry. I decked on three carne asada tacos and my date got the chicken quesadilla. Our bartender came and took our order pretty quickly and the food came out not too long after that! It was really good service! I was really not impressed with the tacos ONLY because there wasn't much meat in them. It was really underwhelming. That being said, they tasted really good, and so did the salsa that came with them. My date enjoyed her quesadilla a lot as well! The drinks were good, the service was good, and the food was good. Went in tonight for dinner, drinks and karaoke. The food was good, the bartender was awesome and very attentive. The KJ was horrible. He was more interested in setting up dance songs to play while he went outside to smoke. When we left there was a que of 14 singers, but he still "sang" and played full songs between every person that was there to karaoke. Typical KJ etiquette is to not sing when there are that many customers waiting to sing and to play filler music until the singer has the mic. Won't be back, which is sad since the food and bar service were good. read more

I had awesome Eggs Benedict at CI this morning; maybe the best I've ever had. It has an old school vibe in a new school neighborhood. Great friendly service and the regulars were really nice to us out-of-towners. Five stars and can't wait to eat there again tomorrow. read more

My friends and I frequently visit this place on our lunch break. It is a great place with excellent food. The staff is always very friendly to us and are quick to get our food order as we have limited time for lunch. The bartender is always friendly and will stop to say hi whenever she has a chance. It is a great place to relax for an hour to watch some sports or play some Keno with your coworkers! Would definitely recommend this spot to others. read more

Ive been coming here for months now and have had the same bartender, Jamie, She has always been quick to take our order and been able to remember my groups drinks and meals. I enjoy how she brings a Pitcher with her and asks us if we want our usual's. Even during band night or karaoke night when its busy the service is always amazing and on time. We tried to go in tonight (Sat. 12/04/2021) a little after 1:00 am. We had gotten a late start, because my friend is in the service industry so, we had waited around for him. We stop at the bar next door and they had one drink. (I was DD) One of my friends ran into a few people outside that he knew so they were standing outside talking. I put my mask on and walked in to see if they were still open. I wasn't even in the door and the bartender starts yelling in my direction. I walked closer to hear what she was saying and she yelled, "Yeah, we're closed, that's why I was locking the doors." So, I turned around and walked out. Now, there were atleast 15 to 20 people sitting at the bar drinking and chatting. Atleast 4 people walked IN and OUT while we were standing outside deciding what to do next. They didn't get yelled at, they joined their groups. I don't have a problem asking if a place is closed and being told, nicely that last call has occurred. I do have a problem being yelled at and having a bartender be snarky with me for no reason. I've worked in bars for over 20 years and I know what it's like to want to close up and go home. I also know how hard the pandemic has been on the service industry, so I sympathize. There was no call for the attitude. There was no call for publicly embarrassing me in front of everyone. I'm not a stupid person. With that being said, I won't be back and when I'm DD-which is pretty often-I won't steer my riders that direction either. This was my very first experience here and it's a real shame that this restaurant/bar allows this type of behavior. read more

The food is good if you're sitting down to eat- take it go and it becomes soggy quickly. This bar is a small hole in the wall type bar. No pool tables. Staff is usually ok- but I have been treated badly there by the women who work behind the bar. It seems like they tend to treat me negatively because I appear young and I like to dress nice. Just seems like they treat every male and other females who are older with much more respect. They should work on being kind to EVERYONE who enters the bar regardless of their appearance or age. Good place with an eclectic group of drinkers and neighborhood randoms. I have been going here for a few months and have seen some typical bar events, and some interestingly different bar events. All told, it's one of the better bars in the area if you like dives that specialize in some decent food and serving drinks. The bartenders are unique but do a good job. Well for $48 I get corned beef trash and eggs slabbed into a box. The Spanish omelet for my wife actually has flavor and looked right, only reason for the 2nd star, but normally when something is corned beef you expect flavor, it had very little flavor. At that price you are saying the food is great or of good quantity, they provided neither. If you're going to charge prices that make people think you have good food maybe you should produce it. read more

This hidden gem has some of the best Fettuccini Alfredo you'll ever have! Blackened Chicken Alfredo with jalapeños. On our first visit here we have mixed reviews. First of all, we love the actual place. Video poker in the back, pool table, and live music every night. It was relaxed, a good temperature inside, and ultimately a great atmosphere. However, the food was not good. We ordered flautas and mozzarella sticks (as we were just in for a small bite) and the flautas were literally 1. Clumped together 2. Just corn tortillas with completely dry chicken inside. I don't honestly even think the chicken was seasoned. It was literally like dry boiled chicken inside a corn tortilla. The mozzarella sticks were average. We had to ask for plates, though our server brought them promptly when asked. One of us ordered a Chardonnay and was brought the cheaper Chardonnay of the two options, did not like it at all and requested to exchange for the Kendall Jackson and the server exchanged it no problem and even charged only the cheaper price. So that was really nice. Honestly, the menu looked like it had a lot of good options (breakfast all day!!) and the service was decent so we definitely WILL return to try other dishes. We went to the Backstop Grill for dinner on Thursday night to celebrate my Daughter Melissa's Birthday. Everything including the "Old Fashion" cocktail was perfect! Even my husband who is very picky, enjoyed his French Dip! I had the chicken Caesar salad and was totally satisfied and I couldn't finish the whole thing! The birthday girl and Heather both had the salmon and they loved it! My daughter knows the owner and he came by and chatted with us and is such a nice guy! I've even brought my niece here because they serve breakfast all day and their pancakes are amazing. You can't go wrong with anything you order, and the staff is really friendly. One time a guy dined and dashed and other patrons were quicker than me to pay for it rather than leaving the staff to deal with it. I highly recommend this place. read more
