I had lunch here today and tried the Chorizo Burger, which was part of Portland Burger Week, and it was absolutely delicious. The service was excellent as well. Our waitress was friendly, personable, and very attentive. Although the fries were an additional charge, they didn't charge us for the chipotle aioli and red pepper ranch we ordered, which was generous. (Some other restaurants in the area should follow suit ). Every time I've visited this restaurant, the experience has been consistently great. A good experience yesterday at Three Mermaids Public House. I met a friend from the past there and we had a good conversation and excellent food. I agree with the 4 star rating that Three Mermaids has garnered so far. It was good...just not great. I had the Reuben Sliders and fries. Nothing special on the fries, and I was bothered that I couldn't have two different types of sliders?? Why? Ciabatta is also odd for a slider, and the Corned Beef was in chunks...not cut thin? Good local pub. The food is excellent, much bigger selection than regular pub. I've tried 4-5 of their beers, all pretty good! None were stand outs. If you're in the area, this place is worth stopping by, nice patio and happy hour. Servers are super nice. My main reason for 4 stars is trivia - multiple issues for such a big event. ... if you do go for trivia, you have to show up an hour+ before starting time to get in, bc they just don't have enough tables for how much they promote it!! Monday night host Graham is just not the nicest. I've been to a few of their themed trivia and really want to like it, but he's made rude/condescending comments a few times - to my group and others. Not great people awareness. He is also soooo strict about anyone having phones within view. And I looked up a couple questions afterward that other groups challenged him on, and his answers were wrong (I think he writes them). Staff was friendly, restaurant nice and clean with lots of seating inside and out. We ordered 2 appetizers, mozzarella sticks we both agreed would be best bang for your buck on the happy hour menu. Most everything would be best on the happy hour, it's all really expensive. The mozzarella sticks were the best though but I wouldn't pay full price for them again. The pesto Parmesan fries were interesting, not worth the price, but a good amount served. You're given 2 sauces with the fries and we liked all the sauce choices. We couldn't believe that chips and salsa cost $10 for an appetizer so we passed on that. Sitting outside isn't something we would do again but it's right on the corner of a busy intersection, it's loud and distracting with everything going on right next to you. They have a very large menu with many delicious options but anytime I see STROGANOFF on a menu it's game on. I appreciate the mix of high/low tables and the amount of natural light. Had to go back to try the pulled pork and it did not disappoint. The ciabatta was soft on the outside but I think butter toasted on the inside, the pork was so flavorful and tender but crispy and the portions for the sliders were huge. Also loved the smoked wings and the burger. The smash burger was pretty big for a smash burger but not sure if that's even a complaint. I came out here for the burger week poutine burger and it did not disappoint! The gravy paired well with the burger, and the cheese was melty (more so than I expected for curds). It's very appreciated that they had several cocktails that they could make non alcoholic! They also have happy hour daily from 3-6 pm. The place was small as it was part of a few restaurants by apartments/condos, with at least one parking garage and a few designated spaces for retail. I think the day we went there, they just ran out of seasoning. We ordered the nachos with ground beef for an appetizer. It was literally ground beef. No seasoning or flavor. My son ordered the Mac and cheese and said it was decent. The other three of us ordered different sliders so we could share. Again, the hamburger on the Vesuvius slider had zero seasoning or flavor. The garlic aioli might as well been mayo. The fried chicken sliders were ok. It is basically a chicken strip. The best slider was the pulled pork. The bbq sauce was fantastic. We had lunch here and were glad we did! My husband had the classic burger and subbed in pepper jack cheese. He opted for a salad to go with it. He liked it but thought it just needed a little salt. He should've gotten what I had- the specials which was a hot pastrami sandwich. They have a smoker out front and I didn't ask but I'll bet the smoke the pastrami in there. Wow the flavor was fantastic! It was served on marbled rye with Swiss, pickles and a tasty slaw. I wouldn't have thought slaw would be good but I loved it! My daughter & I went for Sunday brunch 5/24/26. We arrived about 12:30 & were promptly greeted nicely by the bartender. He gave us menus & said we could sit wherever we wanted, he showed us where their water station is in case we wanted water. Having been a server for over 37 years, I really like it when staff work together & take care of each other! She asked if we wanted any beverages, my daughter ordered coffee & I said I was just going to grab a water- she said she would bring it to me. My daughter ordered corned beef hash & a gluten free english muffin- she was thrilled to have a gf option! I ordered the country benedict. Our food came out looking REALLY good, the potatoes were nice & golden brown. We both ordered our poached eggs medium & that is exactly how they came out. Everything was very delicious & the portions were large- we both need to-go boxes. The coffee was refilled 3 or 4 times without having to ask. They actually smoke their meats out on their patio which we thought was cool! The place was nice & clean, the staff was friendly & knowledgeable. Kudos to Amber, the bartender, & the chef! It's a pretty small place with a small patio but it has a very local bar feel and the bartenders and servers are always great. The menu is fairly simple and they have a great selection of drafts, and those are the two things we really love about this place! It's a very casual dining experience. Absolutely love this place, we have been coming here for over a year and their rotating specials always keep us coming back. They have a great happy hour, several amazing dishes (their nacho week and poutine dishes were out of this world) and their service is amazing. Every employee has such an up beat personality, they're great at remembering the small things, even a trip I've been on they will remember and note it, and making us feel special. Dogs are allowed on the patio and they have water bowls, there's a pet picture board up (which our pup is now on), and they have sports playing often. My family will continue coming back here for many years and any nay-sayers saying crap about lack of diversity or that the servers don't care to pay attention are clearly blind and don't know the great ideas the team bring to the restaurant and menu. read more

Ambiance was very bar like (lots of TV's, pretty rustic, but put together) The food was decent. The burger was pretty good (lots of toppings, maybe a touch greasy) and the fries were alright. Service was quick, but our waiter only checked in for our order, food delivery, and payment. The prices were absurdly high. We paid about 20 bucks a person (only entrees). If we had gotten drinks and appetizers, it would have been 40-50+ dollars a person (my best guess). If I'm paying that much for a meal, the food should be flawless and I shouldn't also be getting my own water from a water station. read more

I get halfway through before I even realize that I should be doing my job as a yelp elite!! Found this place first through a local deal site. If you know something about the West Coast, we have more breweries and public houses than you could ever try. So quite often if I don't get something from word-of-mouth or if it isn't a brewery that maybe we have tried or like somewhere else I really resort to deals sites or some kind of incentive to come in and try something new. Little bit of a drive for us, but we like to visit the nicer mall down here as my teenager is now quite interested in malls again, which is very ironic because I thought that that was a dead market. So for the past few times that we've been down here we like to come grab some burgers here. The price is very reasonable, but definitely not considered cheap for about 17 bucks. You get a half pound hand pressed cheeseburger and a healthy size of very well fried tots. The reason why I say that specifically is most places aren't doing half pound burgers anymore. Which is crazy to me that people can pay these crazy prices for a 4 to 6 ounce burger. Their hand pressed so you can get them medium the way I like them they don't taste like frozen preform patties. We stopped here on the way home from a trip to Seattle. It had a pretty good atmosphere with a decent looking menu. I ordered clam chowder. It was good, but not like an Oceanside restaurant. The food was quite good. We had the brisket sandwich with fries, both of which were tasty. The service was very poor. We were given an argument about where we wanted to sit, saying the seats we wanted were needed for others (but others never showed up). The service was extremely slow. There is a real turn-off of a sign on the table saying occupancy limited to 1hr 45min. We came close to using up that time because the service was so slow. Our server had a definite attitude. Unpleasant to deal with. One of our meals was prepared incorrectly and had to be sent back to be fixed. (The fix was done correctly and promptly.) The menu states that there is an extended happy hour on Fridays, during which glasses of wine are $1 off. When the bill came, we were charged full price. When I complained, the server said the bill was automatic and couldn't be adjusted. I asked her if I needed to show her the menu stating the happy hour price. She looked at the menu, was snotty about it, went to talk to someone and magically the price was adjusted. As a final insult, when the bill came a "credit card fee" was added. While I have seen businesses state upfront that credit cards incur a 3% fee, nowhere did this business disclose that in advance. That fee came directly out of the already lowered tip I left for poor service. We will not be back. Two stars instead of one star only because the food was good. ------------------------- Since Yelp will not allow me to reply to Katya's response, I am editing in a response here. The issue regarding Happy Hour pricing is not that it wasn't eventually honored, it's that when I asked the server about it she gave me an argument. I had to ask her "Do I need to show you the menu where it says the wine was $1 off?" She was testy about it instead of immediately apologizing and saying it would be taken care of. Hence, I would dispute your assertion that the server took the issue seriously. (This was the same server who provided poor service all the time we were there.) And you need to fix your computer's pricing so this issue doesn't arise. You defended your seating policy, which could be understandable, but you apparently do not get how off-putting the notice on the table is. It doesn't say "this only applies to very busy nights" - it's a permanent sticker. I'm in my seventies, couldn't possibly tell you how many restaurants I have visited, and I have never seen a sticker like this one before. My visit was longer than one hour due entirely to the horribly slow service - more like 1.5 hours. Given your stated desire to keep tables free, slow service is self-defeating. There was no opportunity to make an informed decision about the credit card fee. The first time it was visible was when the final bill was handed to me. If you intend to charge credit card fees, you need to have prominently posted a notice to that effect. read more

A friend and I came here for a weeknight Happy Hour. It was not very busy when we arrived around 4. There were 2 bartenders who were very involved in blending drinks and tasting for their upcoming specials. It was work on our part to get their attention. We each ordered a drink, appetizer and "entree" from the Happy Hour menu. The pretzels had clearly been microwaved and were so hot they burned my fingers. Tasted okay once they cooled down but again they had definitely been microwaved as they started to get that post micro wrinkled look. They brought me the wrong entree - had to re-do. The clincher though was the bill - I spent $26.00 and on the lower part of the receipt it showed $7.56 as the suggested 18% gratuity. Interesting math... I definitely would not come here again. I came for a quick lunch with some coworkers. They wanted pasta which is a tough ask round these parts. I ended up going sharesies on the mushroom burger and the chicken pasta. The burger was ok. Cheap patties but at least seasoned. Tasty toppings. Juicy enough. Wouldn't put this in my top tier but solid middle tier. My coworker raves about the pasta but I thought it was just ok. Finding this place was a bit of serendipity during Portland Burger Week in August this year. I have to admit that the name of the restaurant - and of the burger itself - were deciding factors in where to go during Burger Week because there are sooooo many places to go and so many tasty burgers to try. Mermaids and burgers? What could be better, right? The designated burger for Burger Week was a big delicious thing called Brie Be Jammin'! and came complete with big "slices" of brie cheese on the hand-formed beef patty, topped off with garlic aioli, and bacon jam, all served up on a brioche bun. Pretty darn good in my book! Along with the great burger, the place has a nice bright interior and adequate parking. This is a place my friend had been wanting to check out so we met here for a drink and a bite. The bartender was really nice and helpful throughout and it definitely got busy for a bit. So no service issues for us and a decent drink menu (we went with cider for a change). Also decided on some happy hour foods because it was an appealing menu and good prices. Pretty good food. I got it to go which always means you're waiting to eat and the meal is not as optimal as in the restaurant. This was a legit salad though, everything was great tasting and delicious. It's a tad spicy with the jalapeño slices but very good. I sampled some fries from another in my party and they are some of the best restaurant fries I've had. Staff was friendly at pickup and it looked like a comfortable place to eat.
