It's only 7:30pm right, 5 of us walk in and my buddy orders a nonalcoholic beer (he doesn't drink) and a corona. The dude in the long cut tank snaps with a "WE DONT SERVE CORONA" .... I was waiting next to him to order i immediately turn to my fiancé and we both finished each others whispered sentence "wtf??" Take this from me, as I am literally ready to respectfully order so many beers from a dive bar tonight and this dudes vibe immediately made us turn around and walk out. May be why there's only 3 people in there at the moment? Not sure but hopefully the owner maybe takes notice. Weird vibes, I used to love this place as a neighborhood staple. Despite being almost dead on a Wednesday night, the bartender had a huge chip on her shoulder. Do yourself a favor, save your money and walk to Lady Jays, or even better Ontario bar. They have good deals and the bartender on Wednesdays is sweet, has a good sense of humor and plays the best music. It's no wonder she had a full bar of regulars when we walked in. read more

I think I've been meaning to come here for the better part of a decade. Shows how long this place and myself have stuck around. But I never really had an excuse to go or none of my friends really ever willingly want to go into East Williamsburg for drinks. So someone I knew's birthday was being hosted here this week and this was my chance. After waiting an ungodly amount of time for the L train I was greeted with $4 tallboys of pbr (they have other drinks but this was my poison after downing margaritas for two and a half hours beforehand) and free cheezy poofs I will say the spot has a certain amount of charm. The backyard is a ramshackle set up of put put golf made out of statues constructed of shoddy pbr cans, creepy sculptures and gives off that redneck chic vibe. One weird thing did happen - someone spilled half my beer on a table. The drink continued to spillage over onto myself and the floor so we asked for napkins. The staff very begrudgingly asked if the napkins were for 'your face' or something else. . . . . so a no napkin bar. After we insisted that there was kind of a mess all over the table and floor they finally acquiesced with giving us a dish rag. I'm aware I'm getting what I paid for. They do have a happy hour believe it or not - 2 for 1 drinks before what was either 7 or 8pm on weekdays but I mean . . . . everything is pretty cheap here any time of the day/night. I kind of like it for what it is but the people in here are kind of young and it feels almost over-whelming after a bit. Got picked me up and we drove out to Williamsburg to meet our party. First time meeting everyone and glad they're all down to earth. Parking was surprisingly a breeze or maybe we just got lucky. I'm a bit stumped trying to categorize this place. Very dark and poorly lit. The right side hosts a long wooden bar with shelves of liquor and books on the side. Yes, like library books. A few chalk boards with their specials written on them and witty memes displayed behind the counter. Kinda divey if you ask me. The left side has about 6 tables and 2 booths along the exposed brick wall. Red back splash in the back and a few artsy paintings hanging around. A bit hipsterish. For some reason, I think both sides really compliment each other. Oh, and if you ask your bartender nicely, you get free cheesy poofs. Yum, reminded me of my childhood days. The Bushwick Country Club is not in Bushwick and is not a Country Club. I Know....Confusing! The happy hour is 2 for one and it's a doozy!~Dino Toy Reminders with first drink. They are not your free toy. They are for the second drink. It is a total dive bar in the black heart of East Williamsburg. I like coming to this watering hole when I wanna change things up and don't want to spend too much dough. This place also has a patio that can fit a good amount of people and "mini golf". I've never played mini golf here but that's not to say that people haven't attempted. There's some definite characters in this joint. People might try to start a verbal brawl. But just ignore the riff raff come with friends and get sloppy. You might not feel the best the next morning but you can put all the pieces together with your friends I mentioned to bring....important. There's no food here...unless your dinner could be a giant pickle and a bag a chips then yes, there is food. And cheezzzeee puffs! I like this place: a laid back dive with some character. Just have a look at the walls, with the dreadful paintings, some taxidermy of dubious taste, a plastic Santa&Mrs Santa diptych. Or the photoboot, and the wall of photoboot pictures in front of it. Or the nice outdoor "patio" with a 7 hole golf course. I also love the name (I wonder whether this place is somewhat related to the Gowanus Yact Club...). They have one of my favorite beers on tap (Harpoon), and every week there are drink specials. Perhaps this place should be called Bushwick Public Library. I said this because you can't be loud and you can't talk politics. A friend and I were having a conversation about the upcoming disaster of an election. According to another patron (who I later found out worked there), we were too loud. Rather than the bartender coming to us to tell us about our conversation (like an adult), she yelled at us from the other side of the bar to tone it down. It is a bar for christ's sake! This is my thing: 1. If people are "too loud" then it should be the bartender, not her coworker who was not working, to ask the patrons to tone it down. 2. The patron (the bartender's coworker) said that some people want a quiet night. If that is the case THEN STAY HOME AND NOT GO TO A DIVE. Could it be that she wanted free drinks from her friend who was working the bar? 3. I wonder how many skinny, loud white girls are told that they are "too loud"? 4. A dive bar at it's best! Bushwick Country club located in "East Williamsburg", is what a dive bar should be. Yes it's rundown a bit but they use charm and cheap thrills to get you in here. Well it works. 2 for 1 happy hour keeps me staying longer. Not because of the deal but rather because I get drunk and forget all of my responsibilities. What do they give you to cash in your second drink? A toy dinosaur! Fuck drinking I'm just gonna start playing with my velociraptor. They have free cheese doodles. If they were white cheddar I might be willing to live here. They have a cool photo booth and mini golf. Pretty unique. What's that above the bar, is that a Dharma Initiative beer? Yes it is. 4.5 stars... I've always passed this place on a Saturday where the crowd spills onto the sidewalk outside and avoided the hecticness of it all. I had no idea what I was missing. I came here at 7 on a Wednesday and got to experience the place without all the people. First of all it's buy one get one drafts until 8pm, that's really one of the best happy hours I've ever come across, especially as their drafts are $4-5. The selection is limited but the choices are unique, aside from Yuengling I hadn't had any of the others before. Unlike other 2 for 1 specials where they give you a little red ticket or something, BCC gives you a little plastic dinosaur, definitely a cute touch. There's a lot of nice touches here. The mini games of connect four, the free cheesy puffs, the $3 photo booth, the few cushioned booths, the backyard, and the mini golf. Yeah I said mini golf but don't get your hopes up. It's 6 of the worst holes in mini golf history using the worst improvisational equipment imaginable. It's horrible and I loved every bit of it. It's laughably ghetto. At least one of the holes is almost impossible to play between the debris on the course and the lightness of the plastic golf ball. Don't come here thinking "ooo a bar with mini golf" but if you're drunk and wanna laugh, have at it. There's almost nothing to dislike about this place as long as you can appreciate a good dive. read more

Back in aught six when I the two women I lived with dragged me here for the first time, it was for 11-Ball, photo-booth clown-car-ing & boozing. The reasons I've patronized this fine establishment since have ranged from the need to practice my putting, the desire to sample berkshire pork ribs, and the craving for several "super-sizes" (shot of old crow + tall boy of PBR - $5), to wanting an unpretentious place to drink with a knowledgeable friendly staff, and more (mostly more photo-booth clown-car-ing). Surly though she may be (see below), M has always - in my experience - been a great bartender, perhaps because I make a habit of the common courtesy of tipping; to say nothing of her never being (oh horror of horrors) dull! I have also become cordially friendly with many of the other employees of this princely libation purveyor, all of whom have revealed themselves to be extremely likable and fascinating individuals. Beyond these irrefutable ratifications I love the BCC for: the wonderful music selection (ranging from T.I. to Joy Division to LCD Soundsystem), and teaching me (1) the art of properly parting hair, (2) how to improve on the standard recipe for a Manhattan (a Brooklyn?), and (3) how to gracefully rock a head-dress on thanksgiving night (be a tiny bit Chocktaw). read more

Dive bar for real-y'all!! First off, they give you free Cheesy-poofs when you order a drink. Second, the photo-booth takes about 1 hour to spit out your photo, so take the picture early and wait! Second, the bartender pours heavy (that's a good thing) and pours heavier with a nice tip (Very good thing)! And Second, on a blazing hot, early summer day, post cataclysmic down-pour, the two for one well-happy hour until 8pm VERY VERY GOOD!!!!!!! Second.....dang....those drinks were strong.... The kitsch on the wall is fun and the little plastic dinosaur they give you to redeem for your second drink is even funner. What a fun, cheap mess! The "Country Club" part is definitely ironic. My friend dragged me to Bushwick Country Club on a Sunday night during my visit to NYC, and I had a blast! The place was dead being a Sunday and all, but we had fun chatting with the bartender and chilling on the couch. The drinks were cheap, and the bartender was very friendly - we had all his attention, so my experience may be a little biased. Came here for the first time a couple nights ago. Classic dive bar. Really friendly group of people drinking out back. Probably make this my new drinking spot. Very unpretentious and cheap drinks. Nice people and good service. Best dive I've found in this neighborhood. The bartender actually bought me several shots which is pretty uncommon these days. My favorite shitty dive bar in Brooklyn. This place is falling apart but in the best way. That might not make sense unless you experience this place for yourself. The seats are held together with tape...there's tagging in the bathroom and walls but that's apart of their charm. The drinks are cheap. For 5$ you get 2 beers on tap during happy hours AND you can bring your dog in!! They have an outdoor area that looks like at one point it could have entertained you with a fun drunk hit of mini golf...but now its just a great trash obstacle course for your pup. Cheap drinks, crappy decor, shoddy mini golf, nasty bathroom, shady characters... it's what all dive bars strive to be. Bartenders are cool and will pour you a dozen spicy picklebacks without flinching. Not sure why, but some bars are too cool for the 'backs these days (yet they'll serve Jager). The put put is defunct! I've never seen a more depressing sight. Leaves, garbage strewn about. I half expected a tumbleweed to roll by the pbr windmill. This place is pretty laid back, inexpensive beer, a great happy hour deal (2 for 1 tap beers), and in the ladies room...11 toilet paper roll holders! Genius! As soon as I saw them I thought "this is the best idea ever", and relished the experience. I don't really see myself coming here in the evenings, but if I did I'm sure I'd appreciate the abundance of toilet paper. Toilet paper free bathrooms make me want to claw my eyes out. I don't know much about good ole BCC except that I stumbled in with Ethan C. and Brian B. for a nightcap when I really shouldn't have been having a nightcap since the previous stops had taken their toll. But it's ok. I worked off the booze by exercisin'. That's right, I know that I played a round of mini-golf in the back. Now this is my kind of clubbin' - intoxicated and playing golf on the biggest piece of shite course I've ever seen. I don't know who won, but I'm willing to venture it was me because loads of people tell me I look like Tiger Woods. Obviously his skills transfer over as a result? With PBR tallboys guiding our strokes, the boys and I made quick work of the golf course, milled around the nice-sized back patio and then ventured back inside the Club, an ironically dive-y place. Like an oasis in the desert, the photobooth materialized. One lonely, tiny stool awaited. It needed hot-blooded rumps on it. It was time. We went on in and drew the red curtain, much to the dismay of the inquiring masses. What ensued was the notorious "3 men, 1 photobooth" incident (also known as the "Ménage à Tromance") - a dirty delight and definitely NSFW. BCC - I'm considering applying for membership. read more

New favorite bar? Um, yes.... That didn't take me long. I really could just end this review here: these cats invented the pickle back. Sure, there are plenty of debates that other rathskellers were right at the starting gun when the craze swept the city, but from burning the midnight oil and digging deep into the conclaves of sinful indulgence, it's been confirmed. Sauld! Whiskey and lacto-fermentation aside, this place is right up my alley. It's big, it's brimming with hipsters (I gave into my hipster tendencies months ago), and it has a super shitty, yet remarkable putt-putt course in the back of the bar (hence the County Club moniker). It's only four letters off of the namesake golf course in Caddyshack (Bushwood), and me thinks Chevy Chase, Rodney Dangerfield, and Bill Murray would have had a much better time causing a ruckus here than at that perfectly manicured bowling green. I half expected to be greeted by a life size gopher. I guess it's still possible to encounter this fantasy on future visits. Oh, and they have Fernet. The only thing that could make Bushwick Country Club better would be a narwhal aquarium or a miniature reindeer petting zoo off of the 5th hole. This is about to be hilarious. Came here with a few friends on a weekend night. It wasn't too busy, but the crowd was a bit dicey. The frozen drinks are worth it - sweet and strong. However, the service is anything but. We were next to a table of empty PBR cans, which is a beer not sold there. As a bartender, I agree it's obnoxious, egregious and generally cheap when people bring in their own booze. But if you're going to accuse me of being the guilty party, at least catch me in the act. In response to this bartender's aggressive error, my boyfriend neglected to tip her on his next round. (In my opinion, there are very few occasions when not tipping is acceptable. This is one of them.) Less than a minute later, we hear a gong, which apparently identifies a no-tipper. Look, maybe she was having a rough night, but bitch, if you're going to bang a gong over one dollar, you belong in a tourist trap where auto-grat is automatic. See ya. read more

The Country Club is a pretty chill spot. As a result, even when it is crowded, it is never PACKED. They have a great jukebox, and an oldschool black-and-white photo-booth. (Always fun!) The bartenders are wonderfully friendly. They have a "club card" that gives benefits and discounts to its members. ALSO, there is outdoor seating and mini-golf in the back yard! And an Elvis tapestry on the wall. Overall, a fun place to be! If you're in the Williamsburg area, and looking for a place to have a birthday party, this place is awesome! The "birthday person" drinks free all night if he/she brings at least 15 friends. This is the way bars should be, because if you start frequenting the Country Club, the bartenders will recognize you, know your favorite drinks, etc. Awesome -- one of my favorite hangouts. Bushwick Country Club is by far one of my favorite Williamsburg bars. But, unlike the horrendous, and horrendously trendy Union Pool, the place lacks pretention. The crowd is older, and as far as my experience goes, WAY friendlier. Everybody has manners, and it's groups of friends hanging, not a bunch of out of towners or rich kids from Omaha that moved to Brooklyn 6 months ago trying to get laid and "be seen". The bartenders are friendly enough, however I'm not one looking to become best friends with my bartender. This isn't Cheers, a fact I think lost on the negative reviewers. I mean seriously, if you're looking for a place to just hang out, this is it. Oh, and they have a backyard where you can smoke, so you don't have to chug your drink because your lungs are screaming at you. Was there last night with some good friends, good times, very neighborhood feel, hot crowd (and cute bartenders). BCC's got a nice and kitchy feel, with the mandatory 70s lunch boxes and action figures to prove it. The big draw, although not so much yesterday, is the makeshift mini-golf course out back, there's a windmill made out of flattened PBR cans.
