I found myself at Bushwick Pita Palace after getting out of a nearby concert. We were looking for something no frills and since this seemed to fit the bill, we may our way over. I'm a fan of Mediterranean and Mexican food, so I was looking forward to seeing what BPP had to offer. Walking in, you're greeted by a large production area to the right with some tables to the left. As we made our way towards the back, we were greeted by the menu and the ordering station. They have a large selection of typical Mediterranean, Middle Eastern, and Mexican dishes. I was in the mood for a burrito, and they had a lot of creative ones to choose from. I ultimately went with the Crazy Chicken Burrito which was filled with the aforementioned protein, salsa, pinto beans, cheese, pico de gallo, rice, and sour cream. The burrito was really good - it was huge, stuffed to the brim, and had great complementing flavors; it was really everything you want out of a burrito. Service was fast, and overall BPP was the perfect spot for some late night eats. Service was fast, food was good, and they have plenty of space to sit and enjoy. But tonight, they majorly screwed up our chicken and beef kabob. Order the quesadilla. It was a tortilla with a tiny bit of cheese in it. I could have made it better myself. Had a side of rice beans and sour cream but without any salsa what's the point? Delivery is faster than ordering in the store. Went the other day just for tortilla soup and had to wait a painful 20 minutes because it was obvious they were more concerned with their online orders. The soup was just ok. Everything melted together. Would have been much better to put the chips and avocado on the side. TOO SPICY! The falafels burned my mouth so bad and ruined the entire meal for me. The falafel is what makes the plate and if they're bad I can't enjoy the rest of the sides, no matter how good (and they were pretty good). Oddly, the rice was the star; it has such a unique, almost sweet, blend of spices. The cauliflower was not worth the extra money spent on getting a third side. It's not that great. The beet and red cabbage salad that comes on the plate as well as the hummus are all tasty. You get a pita, which I always appreciate, but I wish I could have gotten whole wheat. I was also disappointed they didn't have babaghanoush when I went. How could they run out?! This place has so much potential... It's open late and there's plenty of seating. There are a ton of vegan options and they have a great variety of menu choices. The workers are nice and were helpful when I asked questions. i used to order from here when i used to live in the area and it used to be good. I was in Brooklyn and decided to order from them because i used to really like their food. Whoever answers the phones needs to work on being friendlier. I was very disappointed. The food arrived cold, The cauliflower was so soggy, i really couldn't eat it. They're so nice they let me create that myself. And it was good! They're cheap with prices but not with portions. My food can always last two sessions. The quesadillas came with beans, salad, and rice. All for $7/$9 can't remember but I think it's $7. Place was renamed to Middle Eastern Mexican Grill Came last Friday for a quesadilla. Before they closed due to a crumbling foundation in their building, it was a horrible place to eat. Now its even worse. The quesadilla chicken comes from their chicken soup, strained, and then placed in the quesadilla. It ends up being a soggy, wet bunch of dough in your tin container. An umhappy customer came in to xomplain about their order and the middle eastern man at the register (the owner) told him to, ajd I quote: "Shut the f*** up you fa***t. " Accompanied by more slurs. His employee then came aroun nd the counter with a broom and threatened the customer, telling him to leave and he wont he getting a refund. My wife and I completely lost our appetite and left, leaving everything on the table. This place needs to close. This same location, 2 establishments ago was called "Burrito Loco." This makes the taco quite heavy. The meat was very bland. Overall the tacos were good for 1am on a Thursday. Would I recommend this place? Bushwick Pita Palace was a surprisingly good Tuesday dinner option. Looking for something not too heavy on the stomach or the wallet, I sifted through my stack of menus and found BPP. I've ordered there once before and remembered purchasing the lamb shwarma. Although months ago, the thought that the lamb was tough and not quite enjoyable still stuck in my head. With that in mind, we went about tackling the rest of the menu and the menagerie of food on it. Normally you would not associate a pita palace with burritos and enchiladas (tortillas, pita - sort of the same but not really) but they offered hispanic fare as well. After a quick look, i ordered the falafal platter and the gf ordered the 1/2 chicken and a spinach pie. falafal platter came with salad, rice, hummus, tahini and pita. 1/2 chicken came with salada, rice, your choice of black/pinto beans. gf got black beans. spinach pie was gigantic. i mean like 1/2 a 9 in. circular aluminum carry out plate gigantic. food arrived promptly and still warm. the rice was long grain, yellow and tasted of anise. the hummus was tasty and a good consistency. the tahini went well with the falafal. the salad was impressive in its greeness(as most delivery restaurants serve washed out pale iceberg) and had beets and other tasty bits in it. the 1/2 chicken was seasoned similar to the rice and paired well. the black beans were good cooked and seasoned well but each bean was still individual (my personal preference is when they're cooked to almost a paste). the spinach pie, i havent had yet. but from the looks of it, it looks delicious. the total for all this food plus tax/tip was 24 bucks. so dinner for two, left overs for lunch and a spinach pie equates around 4 meals at $6 per. not bad at all. really decent place, not bad for the waist line. quite impressive. kudos bushwick pita palace! read more
