Very authentic Mexican place. You know it's real when I can't understand half the menu. Food was great and in huge portions. I got the quesadilla and my friend got a burrito bowl. Most of their food items are with corn tortillas so just an fyi. They serve you some chips and salsa while you wait. I don't usually give 5 stars but My friend and I stayed an extra almost half an hour after we were done eating to talk and chat and they kept filling our water and did not even bring the check to rush us. Came here with friends after a night out partying. They're open really late which is cool. But honey, it's 2022. Why are you still cash only? You know damn well people (especially inebriated people) aren't looking too closely for "cash only" signs and at 4 in the morning in this neighborhood there aren't too many banks around. Forcing people to take cash out of your stupid ATM for a $3 fee is just greedy as hell. The three stars is for the convenience tbh. But this is the other thing, we were a group of 5 and the complimentary chips and salsa they put on the table was literally a serving for one person. The bowl of salsa looked as if it had already been eaten out of, that's how skimpy they were. Need a better visual? Imagine going to Red Lobster with a group of 5 and them only giving you 2 biscuits. Then we asked for a little more and they charged us for it, gave us the exact same basket of chips and bowl of salsa but it was actually full the second time around. Good marketing ploy to get people to buy more but also just really grimey. Two of my friends got the shrimp quesadilla and the consome de birria on the side for dipping. Basic. One got the New Mexico burger. Also basic. Another got three tacos, they looked pretty full of meat which was nice but once he started sobering up he realized they were also.. you guessed it! Basic. We've ordered from here like 40 times and they've constantly been late by like 30 minutes -lto around 2 hours. Calling for updates leads to the standard, "its on the way". We actually realized they accept orders when their shop isn't even open yet. (We live nearby and decided to check if they were open... they weren't. We watched them open the shop 20 minutes after after accepting our order. They've also waited numerous times until after the delivery time to inform us that they aren't actually open and then we get notified from wherever we ordered from that they're actually closed. If you want Americanized Mexican food, this is the best place for it. I had a barbacoa and lengua taco and it was topped with shredded lettuce, tomato and some weird watery white sauce. No cilantro or onions in site on the tacos. Both meats were over cooked, dry and too salty. Also they did not give you any hot sauce (salsa verde or salsa roja) with the tacos or any of the other items I ordered. But they did give me one single half of a lime wedge for both tacos (so generous!). I also got a bierria quesadilla thinking, like all other places that serve bierria tacos/quesadilla/etc that it would come with consommé, but alas you actually have to pay extra for it. The quesadilla was fried to a hard crisp (did I order a Gordita) where consumme' would have saved it in the most forgiving way. Never will I ever order from this place again, especially for the price point. It's not at all cheap for what you actually get. It's really a glorified taco bell. I'd much rather eat a crunch wrap supreme from taco bell for a fraction of the cost than any item I got here. Mew Mexico Mexican food is what you get from here. New Mexico Place was on my list after filtering what came the fastest - less than 30 minutes. I saw they also had birria tacos and quesadillas - jackpot. I ordered the Birria taco and consome** with elote and a tamale, my husband ordered the chicken quesadilla with rice and beans and my toddler just wanted some straight up rice and beans. The food was hot and fresh. The birria tacos were excellent; in all honesty, I have no basis for comparison since this was my first time having it but it was quite good (even decided to try the birria quesadilla which was also a hit). The elote was perfect and inhaled it shamelessly without offering anyone else a bite (No Regrets). My husband is quite fond of quesadillas and said it was wonderfully seasoned and tasted great - he was also really happy with the large portion. My kid loves rice and beans so no complaints from her either. This was probably another one of the worst "Mexican" foods I've ever had. I think the chef is Chinese and use Chinese style pork. I don't eat Chinese food and to my surprise all the "Carnitas" I ordered was like Pork fried rice pork. It was disgusting and I had to immediately regurgitate after consuming just a few bites. They get one star not just because the food is terrible but also because I was told they won't deliver to my building and that they would make an exception for me since I paid via Grubhub but that I had to come all the way to the Street to pick up my food. After feeling completely apprehensive, I said "That's fine, I don't mind going to the street to pick it up" Is it because I'm in the projects? I don't know. All I can is, it's not what I was even nearly expecting. I've had terrible Mexican food but this one probably takes the crown for the worst kind. Who the heck puts a few small pieces of fried pork in a taco and call it a taco? They're extremely skimpy with the meat. This was the first Mexican place I found when I first moved to NYC in 2011 and it's still the best! They have incredible salsa and I'm also a big fan of the tortas and tostadas. Both experiences were excellent though and I wouldn't hesitate to go in person again. The food that I've had has always been delicious. The portions were huge. I like to order Chicken Burritos from Mexican Restaurants because is the one item that it never fails. Guess what, my tasty prediction was right on point ! The Chicken Burrito was excellent, it over exceeded my expectation in taste and it was only $9.00 ! :) (Ever since I paid 18.00 for a burrito in NYC, I always compare my burritos to that one. $18.00 for 1 burrito was a lot but the taste was great). Anyhow, back to the burrito here it has a unique flavor as taste, the chicken was very well cooked and seasoned like if it was homemade. I would absolutely come back and try different dishes here. So first off the chips, guacamole and salsa are great!! and I will come back even if its only to get that. It's all homemade which is great - even the chips, and it tastes fresh! I ordered fish tacos that were okay.. I do think they were a little bit too dry and it felt like a fish mince and not fish fillet or chunks, which I don't like, but I'll definitely try the steak ones next time! I am not sure if they have cocktails since I did not see it on the menu and I didn't get a drinks menu.. I am slayed. Brutally and maliciously. There I was. On the couch, watching "Moon" (directed by David Bowie's son, which was *amazing*), when the first stirrings of a tummy grumble appeared. My BFF recommended that we order from New Mexico Place, as they are cheap, fast and pretty darned delicious. Innocently, I ordered the $5.75 steak burrito (my BFF ordered the veggie burrito and her boyfriend also ordered the steak burrito), and an order of the nachos for the three of us to share. Within 30 minutes, the food was delivered. 20 minutes after that, I was slayed. Curled up in the fetal position and whimpering from the agony of defeat. Now, as to the burrito itself isn't huge when compared to Chipotle's oft massive burritos. In fact, the New Mexico burritos are absurdly simple - just tortilla, rice, meat and a smear of beans. However, it's simplicity hides the evil deviousness that lays within. For me, the burrito was a little over salty, and there wasn't a complexity of flavors or spices that I have come to expect from a good burrito. Yet...yet, there was something almost artistic in this simplicity, with flavorful guacamole and sour cream served on the side. So I ate the burrito, pausing every once in a while, to snack on a crisp and deliciously homemade tortilla. About 3/4s of the way through the burrito, I realized that it's simple deception was the Trojan Horse that would ultimately slay me. I never did end up finishing the burrito, and the three of us didn't even make a dent in the huge nachos. Instead, I weakly curled up into the fetal position, and fell into a semi food coma, with the overwhelming fullness of my tummy preventing me from descending into slumber's sweet release. My belly was so full that rolling over would elicit whimpers and groans. It wasn't until nearly noon the next day, did I being to feel hungry again. Definitely not the most delicious burrito I've ever had, but definitely the only burrito to defeat me. I've been able to eat TWO Chipotle burritos and still eat pie for dessert, but this one burrito had the density of a black hole, and for the first time ever, I was slayed by my meal. read more

Not only that, but the guy must have dropped it (See picture). Jalapenos? $1.50. Hot sauce? $1.50 The person I spoke to on the phone very clearly seemed to not care at all about my order. Although, he did repeat it back to me - including the "no onions" I requested, because I am allergic to them Although they deliver, they refused to deliver to my, under a mile away. So I get home, open it, and find this awful slop There is no sauce on the enchiladas. There's onions all over it, a blob of sour cream, and a ROTTING avocado. I call them, and the guy on the phone tries to claim that I didn't ask for no onions. I recorded the call; I did ask, and he did tell me there would be none. When he hangs me to the manager, the phone reception on their end mysteriously starts to cut out. I try to explain the situation to him, and all him to deliver a meal that I can actually eat, and I can't make out almost any of his reply. This is the slop they prepared for me, for $13. I hate writing negative one star reviews but I also hate waisting money on food that's not good. Ordered the chicken fajita plate. The chicken was like rubber and way salty. Not only was it nasty but there was also a very small portion of chicken. Just a ton for beans and rice that were also subpar. How do you mess up something simple like chicken fajita and server it. Never again. Side Note 1 - my intention of this review is not to damage the business by any means. I'm sure the people that work here are hard workers and have family's to support. Okay 4 stars because I am fearful of people come eat here! A gem in Williamsburg, and a place that I love coming to for some solid, affordable Mexican food. The decor is nothing to scream about, but the enchiladas and the chimichanga... sweet Mary, Joseph and all the apostles that's some good food. Is 27.. why was my total 39 and he didn't give me a itemized receipt, something doesn't make sense! I have been scammed. Well Ive been here and eaten from here a few times. I always get take out or order for delivery. I ordered the huitlacoche and pumpkin flower quesodillas which are quite good. Everything else is quite shit that I've had. And it's beyond pissed me off because I'm told one thing and get something else and on top of it I was overcharged. They tried to get away with it. I will be making a note. Because last night the bill was supposed to be 22 plus tax but they said $28. And then they charged my car $38.27. And it took roughly 10 minutes for them to give back 10 dollars. When it was actually even more since the quesodillas are only 5 bucks and the basic nachos are 12. Wha a scam. If the food was great I probably wouldn't be pissed but I got sick because they used old mushrooms. And the beans I could tell were quite old. And the meat (steak) was quite flavorless. The only thing half way decent was the tablespoon of quac on the side but even that tasted a little off and was way too watery. Sooo. 28 bucks and I got two quesodillas and nachos that were supposed to have meat, beans, cheese, sour cream, cotija, tomato and guac and it had a large pile of overcooked chips, a handful of meat that would have been about the same amount they put in two tacos, some pasty beans, and a very small sprinkle of cotija, and one small spoon of watery guac. Hmmm. Never quite had nachos that bad before. I mean if I was going to starve or spend money on that shit again I would starve. And it took them 15 minutes to prepare. Not sure how since the place was empty and the food wasn't even hot when they handed it to me. It was warm. The quesodillas were edible but very very bland upsettingly so especially since they charged $14 for them an they're very small too. And did not have any guac or sour cream basically like a large taco I guess. It needed salt or something i don't even know. I do know the sauce will burn your tongue like Idk what spices they use but that shit is wayyy too spicy especially if that's all they're offering to go with your food. Definitely not authentic.
