There is a magic about this place where you makes wishes, pick crystals and flowers to add to the potting mix. After you write down your wishes, you ring the brass round bell pot and place your wishes in the bottom of the planter. You choose your flowers from the flower bar, as well as selecting your crystals. This weeks crystal is a moonstone. Zay, the young woman with wispy blue streaks, is our Zinkstown helper. How appropriate to have this beautiful young lady like her being our fairy helper. She is Zay and it is Zinkstown. A perfect blend of Z's. What a wonderful way to celebrate Spring, the season that the earth comes back to life after the dormant winter.

So much fun that I just had to take two of my friends back here to celebrate their birthdays. There was no doubt in my mind that this place was the perfect birthday present and time to spend with them. Memories. Pat myself on the back . . . they loved it and I think they will bring other friends back to have this experience also. Zinks Town is an art gallery that also specializes in the experience of creating a lasting magic memory with their "Succulent Bar". Creating the magic: You select a container& then select one or two plants from an extensive variety of succulents. Next step is creating a memory / desire that you place in the bottom of the container, followed by planting your succulent(s); then placing "wish" supporting Ingredients (mine were Lemon Grass, Hibiscus, Roselle, Chrysanthemum, Mallow Flower, and a couple I can't remember how to spell!); then you select magic crystals (mine were Black Lace Agate, Green Aventurine, & Lapis Lazuli); and finally you add decorations. Yep decorations. Important thing is to remember to select a container that will fit all that. I love it when a business creates opportunities to come away with more than satisfying your thirst, fixing your car, supplying you with groceries or cooking your dinner. I love it when you come away with a memory that will be with you longer than next week. A memory that you will share with friends . . . at least until their next birthday.

We took two grand kids (ages 5 and 7) to Creativity Warehouse for a pottery class that was…read moreadvertised in the January Cibola Neighborhood alerts. The pottery class was $40 per child. There were only 3 children signed up for the "Kids Clay workshop", so there was plenty of opportunity for the teacher to provide one-on-one attention to them. There was not much direction or instruction from the teacher on how to prepare the clay or proper painting technique to use on clay. She did demonstrate how to attach items to clay by scraping. For this age, we felt there should have been more instruction on designing of the objects and directions on how to paint the clay, so when fired, the color would be more vibrant. The color of the completed pieces was very washed out, almost if they had been just painted with water color. The teacher said the project would be ready in 7 to 10 days and that we would receive a text when the pieces were ready to pick up. It took 21 days and we were never notified for pick-up. We had to personally check 3 times to see if project had been completed and was ready to pick up. Very disappointed in the service after paying over $80 for the class.

I have heard of this type of wine+paint event so many times but never really tried it...because..I…read moredon't really drink and never was really an art person or anyone with artistic skills or much interests in arts at all. Heck, before attending an event at Painting with a Twist, I never really painted in my life even! So, trying a painting event here was completely outside of my comfort zone..and I was so glad I tried it! The space was welcoming and I loved that Barbara the teacher for my glow in the dark painting session made me and everyone feel comfortable. Never even once did I ever feel like I was so bad at painting! The instructions were easy enough for me to roughly follow..and I loved that Barbara left a lot of room for us to do things on our own and not have to follow her guidances at all if we don't want. Heck, if any one of us decided we wanted to paint something else on our own..she said it would be ok, too! I loved that the 2.5-3 hours sessions went by fast! It was a friendly, easy going session and just a fun thing to do..something new to try if you never been to one for sure. Try attending an event at Painting with a Twist out if you never tried it! For a price of around $40...you get a few hours of fun event to attend..to try out some of your artistic skills...and..the best thing..your painting from an event to go home with you, too! After attending this event, I would definitely love to explore and attend more events there for sure. For events like..paint your pet portrait, for example was super interesting and an attractive option for me to check out as my next class!

Unique tiered leveling allows kids to tell secrets about Santa Claus while mom/dad obliviously talk shop with the neighbors and throw the ball to Lassie. The Bad: No recreational expanse for games/soccer tournaments, whatever, it's a small place. The Verdict: Oh, man, the views around here. Every time I visit the foothills I get jealous, we were there as a storm front approached, talk about dramatic skies with a Sandia/Mordor backdrop. But the bocce ball court(?) was the real take-away. Lovingly maintained by locals with a rake to smooth things out, there's a bench dedicated to some guy who obviously loved this little spot, and underneath the bench -- yes! -- a set of bocce balls in a bag. All I could think, and say aloud, was that if this park was located in my 'hood, ain't no way that bocce ball bag would be there in the morning. This is public recreation in the Heights, y'all, these people respect the commons.
