I usually go to the location in Santee but I needed a key cut on a Sunday and this was the only Busy Bees Locks & Keys location that was open on Sunday. This location was easy to get to and there was plenty of parking. The interior is smaller than the Santee location with just a small lobby/waiting area with chairs in the front. However, the level of service was just a good. After a short wait while they finished programming a car key for another customer, they were quick and efficient in cutting my double sided key. I brought in some blanks and the working original to get a couple duplicate keys cut for my truck Service was friendly and quick. They let me know the pricing per key before they got started and even after inspecting the original, let me know that there's a chance they can't cut the key since it's very twisted Somehow though, the team at Busy Bees Fairmount was able to work their magic and cut me two working duplicates in 5-10 minutes. The keys were all tested onsite to confirm they worked both to unlock/lock and to turn the ignition. Couldn't be happier with such smooth painless upfront service. This is for the crew @ Mission Gorge. I came in with an elderly truck .. locks on the shell were both totally screwed up, unable to access. Three separate techs & the owner all jumped in to free up locks enough for me to access belongings. They're special-ordering replacements to prevent nightmares from happening again. These folks were awesome. About 90 minutes spoiling a stranger, I offered to pay for the time/services provided or as a deposit on a replacement order...declined. Submitted my project on yelp. Busy Bees was very responsive. Gave me an estimate and informed me of my options. I took the risk, ended up purchasing an new (old stock) oem uncut key and unused oem fob for my 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee from ebay in hopes they would be able to program it. Showed up to the Chula Vista location. Staff was friendly and jumped right on it. First they made sure the fob worked. It did. (Whew!) Employee plugged the programmer up to car, entered some info. Literally took about 5 minutes and the fob was synced to the car. I was finally able to activate the alarm and lock/unlock the car without having to use the key. About $7 to cut the key and $75 to program the fob. Was in and out in like 15-20 minutes. I will be back to get my spare set hooked up later. Thank you guys!! read more

I stopped by the Mission Valley location on a Saturday (10/26) to see if they could make a key for a 65 year old classic car. The receptionist and locksmith on duty were very attentive to my needs. there were 2 customers ahead of me so I sat down to wait. One older lady was very patient and her key was done first, she paid her $11.00 and left very happy.. the other lady, a bit younger, was very impatient, grumbling to herself about the wait. She had a Toyota that was a bit unusual, the locksmith was working very hard to help. I overheard him reaching out to his collegue and to the Toyota dealer for technical assistance and to try to locate the correct key blank. He tried two different electronic programmers and was not successful - totally not his fault. The customer was disappointed and stormed out of the shop. This shop really went above and beyond to try to help. Oh, and my 65 year old classic car? Yes, they had a key blank for another vehicle that the locksmith was able to adapt to mine. Sometimes things just get away from you and you lose mailbox keys. Luckily for us, Busy Bees Locks & Keys was able to take a same-day request to replace a cluster mailbox key lock for our unit. Around our arrival window, (which ones only 1 hour by the way, so how awesome is that?!), they sent us a text with the technician who we would be meeting. Safety all around for the win! Our tech, Michael, called us immediately afterwards, and told us he would be there in about 15 minutes. Luckily enough, our mailman was delivering mail, so Michael didn't even have to drill the original lock open. Woohoo! Start to finish in about 15 minutes. I scheduled an appointment ahead of time due to limited time in town. They sent a text message ahead of time informing me that Rob was on the way. He quickly fixed the issue I was having with my house key fitting both the front and garage doors as they should and then provided me with duplicate keys as requested. Horrible experience with busy bees. First, I show up and ask for a replacement key. They say they can do it and it would be helpful if they had the vehicle. So I go home and get my vehicle. I come back and wait for OVER AN HOUR for him to try and get it done. He can't find the parts in his store, then he finds them, but then his machine to program doesn't work, then he gets a different one and can't figure it out etc.... Finally after an hour of waiting he comes in and says I can't get it to work. Ridiculous and incompetent. DO NOT RECOMMEND! read more

The guy in the store didn't address my door knob replacement questions. He was all over with what seemed to be excuses. He never addressed my request to schedule the visit to replace the door knob. It was just, take photos, and send to the email address, and we'll give you a quote. Not receiving the requested service, I replaced the door knob myself for like $35. I had a fantastic experience with both the Escondido and Mission Valley Busy Bees. I needed a second fob for my new Chevy Tahoe and it proved difficult to program both fobs at the Escondido location. They suggested we visit another store in San Diego, but they, too had difficulty. Therefore, they sent Daniel from Escondido to my house this morning and he fixed the problem in less than 20 minutes! Daniel was quick and efficient, providing a new FOB for my Mazda for far less than the dealer (The only hassle - none of it being Daniel's fault- us that to program the key etc the car has to be right outside where there is zero parking so you have to park in the red while it's done although he said they do it regularly. While Alex the locksmith technician was just running slightly behind schedule for our swiftly-scheduled- the-late-Saturday-afternoon-before appointment set for 9am Sunday, it was worth the wait seeing him work! He has different machines, fobs, and other tools w/ w/c a hybrid owner like me can get a working spare. I am in fact writing this as I am driving using the spare now and can see it also works well for remote functions just like the original. The store staff was very helpful too in making sure that I don't get a ticket (Little Italy being a smaller neighborhood has a lot of red no parking zones) and I managed to snag the metered space in front of the store that does not charge any money on Sundays. I only wish I can afford to tip more, but like everyone else, inflation & what not has hit me hard, so at the very least I could give this honest review for then. Kudos too to Do It Best in Valley Center for recommending them to me:) If you cannot afford to get overcharged by car dealerships or br left guessing if the stuff for sale or do-it-yourself videos online works for you to get a worling spare for your hybrid, Busy Bees Locks and Keys - Little Italy is worth the drive on a Sunday for your peace of mind to never go key-less! read more
