Lost power to our garage and called Busy Bees to come out and make a key for our garage door. They sent someone out within the hour and our first tech was very polite, but unfortunately did not have the tools necessary to open our door. After taking pictures of my lock, they scheduled someone for the next day since this was a non-emergency and simply came by to check the keys worked and dropped them off! I messaged the business late at night, well after they were closed asking about a duplicate key for my 05 Honda Accord, I told them I already had the key and had it programmed all I needed was the key to be cut. I got a response back that night from the owner with a quote. I looked around other places to make sure I was getting a fair price and after messaging other businesses, I was sure that I was getting a good price. I went into the shop a couple hours later and was taken care of immediately. I was quoted the same price. What made this a 5 star experience for me was that the employee who was helping me took the time to make sure the key worked. In my situation I was having trouble with the immobilization chip not working and instead of ending the transaction after cutting the key he did some trouble shooting made sure the chip was able to communicate. We came to the realization that the chip needed to be reprogrammed. The price was more than fair. I would definitely go back to them for all of my locksmith needs in the future. read more

I would give them less than one star if it was available. I went to them and asked for a remote control for a 2006 Hyundai Elantra, They told me that the remote is not available now and it will be requested then will arrive within a week and we will contact you when it is ready. I waited for a week and no one called me, so I called them, the company representative answered me that he didn't know anything about that and asked me for some time to check that. He answered me, after a long wait, that they had one remote, but he didn't know whether it was for or not, and he told me that he will double check and contact me later. After a while, he called me and said that the remote control that you requested for your car needs 2 softwares, so what we have doesn't work, therefore we will ask for a new one for you and it will arrive soon, then we will contact you to inform you. I told him I wasted a lot of time with you for no use, and I don't want to lose more time, it's better to look for another locksmith, and I do not want you to call me again. read more

I called around looking for a place to re-key my keys. My faub was loose and I taped it together so I wouldn't lose any of my buttons. Busy Bee was the most affordable and replaced my faub in about 20 minutes. I had an issue with it about a week later and returned to Busy Bee. I spend a lot of time driving the highways of San Diego for my job and see the Busy Bees Locks and Keys vans on the road all the time. So, when I lost the key to my GMC Sierra pickup, they're the first mobile locksmiths that came to mind (great marketing, btw). I gave them a call, gave my info and they gave me a price right away. Before I even hung up with the dispatcher, I received a confirmation via text message. I also received 2 more status updates leading up to their tech's arrival which was within the 1 hour window the dispatcher told me. Tony was a nice guy, very personable and provided great customer service. My ignition cylinder was slightly worn so I figured making a new key from it might be a little bit of a challenge. Instead, Tony knocked it out real quick and spent extra time fine tuning the key, making sure it worked in the ignition and door lock to my satisfaction. He did such a great job, I had him cut me a 2nd copy right then and there. Great service at a very reasonable price (as quoted). Amazing customer service! We were looking to have a spare key made for a used Jeep we just purchased for our daughter and for some reason it was not your typical replacement key. I called the dealership first and they proceeded to tell me that because of the type of key it was, it would have to be sent out to Chrysler first and then be sent back to the dealership which would take a couple of weeks, at least. I then proceeded to call a couple of local locksmiths. When I called Busy Bees, I spoke with Jamie who was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Because it was an unusual type of key she said she would get more information and call me back. She called me back a little later that day and said that they had found and ordered the key and it would be here within a week. Well, we were on a time crunch as my daughter was driving the Jeep back to Texas (4 days later.) Jamie then put a rush on it to get it here by Tuesday (the day before my daughter was leaving) so we could get it done. Jamie called on Monday to say the key was supposed to be delivered that day and would let us know as soon as they had it in the shop, which she did! We then scheduled an appointment for Tuesday at the Santee location to have the key cut and programmed. Chris helped us when we walked in and even called the technician to make sure he was on his way. Once the technician (didn't get his name) got there, it literally was done in about 10 minutes! The customer service on the phone and in person was top notch! You don't find businesses and employees who go above and beyond like these folks do! My previous locksmith shutdown (retired), so I Went to Busy Bee after seeing several referrals on Facebook. There was no other customers in the store and only 1 person behind the counter. I tried to be friendly with her, but she was not very friendly. I needed to get a Motorcycle Top Case re-keyed to my motorcycle key. She didn't even touch the cylinder just said that she didn't think she could help. She did say that she could research it (the reason for 2 stars instead of 1), but she hadn't asked any questions and had only glanced at the cylinder and key. It was clear that she wasn't interested in my business. I suggest you find another vendor that actually acts like they want to help (even if they can't...at least make an effort!). read more
