Thursday lunch around 1 pm wasn't too busy! We had tried another time when the line was too long! You order at the counter, find a seat, get your drinks & chips if you ordered them and wait for your number to be called. I had the dried beef sandwich with Gouda cheese on raisin bread. I didn't add mayonnaise, but I would next time. It was surprisingly tasty. I also had a cup of hamburger chowder soup and it really hit the spot. I ended up taking half of my sandwich home. The pickle was a nice addition on the side. Friend had what she said, was the best chicken salad she think she's ever had! It wasn't a really large sandwich, but it was just enough. What a great little spot for lunch. It wasn't real expensive either. It's a very cute place with a brick on the walls and wooden tables and floor. A very nice place for lunch. Not the worst place, but have been to better. First, upon entering, there is nobody around, and a sign saying you have to order upstairs. We trek up two flights of stairs to a bar. We are told we order there and then find a seat and someone will bring our food. First they brought the wrong food. Two of us were done eating before the other two got their food. Nobody ever asked if we wanted drink refills. We had to go to the bar. It makes no sense why you can't sit and have someone wait on you. There were two tables and the "server" was never around. Three women standing at bar talking about dating instead of tending to customers. The food was okay, but it would have been better with some BBQ sauce...but we couldn't find anyone to ask. Not very good. I had their barbecue beef sandwich. It was so tough. It was so tough I couldn't even eat it. my wife had the turkey sandwich, nothing special was plain old deli, turkey. I did complain about the barbecue sandwich, , but they did not offer my money back. I would not recommend this place. There are so many other places to choose from. read more

Visited one of the highest rated restaurants in Pella during family vacation. We were greeted by a sign that said to wait to be seated. Instead, a lady behind the counter greeted us and told us to place our order at the register, then find a seat upstairs. Ordered a bunch of sandwiches to make a sampler with my son-in-law. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Seating was limited in the main dining area, so we were directed upstairs.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Ordered a couple of bratwurst - one without ketchup. They both came naked even though toppings were listed on the menu. We took it back to the kitchen & they got mad at us for not specifying when ordering, which we did. Drinks & chips are self-serve. Ordered the dried beef sandwich as well. Almost switched out the bread as it sounded strange to be made on raisin bread. This sandwich needs a sauce. It's too dry. Finally ordered the beef and cheddar. This was the best sandwich with plenty of meet and taste. I rated it three stars because of the lack of service and sub-par sandwiches. read more

Where should I begin? I'll start at the beginning. Called on a Thursday to make a reservation for Saturday at 7:00 for 4. Weird they asked if all in our party are over 21, which was the case. It gave us all a good laugh considering none of us could probably even remember 21. So, we arrive, no reservation on the books. THE Hostess looked at an empty book and said she could accommodate. Fro there she probably tried too hard, but can't fault her for making an effort. We told her we wanted to have a drink in the bar before going to the dining room. We order drinks. Here is the good part. The Butcher's Old Fashioned was delish! Waited over 5 minutes for a Bloody Mary while they cooked the bacon. It was made and watering down on the bar while waiting. It was too spicy, but you can't blame that is subjective by the consumer. They wanted to close us out right away but we said no as we may want another drink. Then the bartender came along and said we had to pay or he would "loose the order". Whatever, gave him a card. We were asked again within 10 minutes if we wanted to close out. [[HIGHLIGHT]]BTW, there was only one other table in the bar and the dining area was only two occupied tables and a bridal party. Why were we being rushed?[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Now for the kicker. You probably know this restaurant is called BUTCHER'S BREW HUIS. We've felt rushed in the bar and when we get to the table we find two of their three steak dishes are already sold out. It's only 7:10pm and they are a BUTCHER! End of birthday celebrations. Since we went for the steak. Reboot at Applebee's in the Hood. Met new people, enjoyed the drinks and meals with a very friendly and competent bartender/waitress. Next time we will forgo the hassle at the BUTCHER. read more

Ambiance good. Building very cool. Multi level was nice. Service a bit slow but they were busy. Had to ask for silverware. That should t ever happen. Pretzel and cheese was great. Cesar salad with chicken was disappointing. Chicken not bueno. Sometimes I was concerned the small diced pieces weren't cooked enough. They were sketchy. Cesar dressing seemed watered down and thin. Mom liked her fries ok but just ok. Nothing to rave about. Husband liked his smashburger burger. read more

What a fun afternoon we spent in Pella. Toured the windmill, watched the klokkenspiel show, got pastries from not one but two Dutch bakeries! Then we had delicious burgers for dinner on the second floor of the Brewhuis. Looked out over the main square where they had a farmer's market going on. Tried the "Dutch Avalanche" burger with Pella bologna (made next door at Int Veld's butcher shop), smoked ham and melted gouda cheese. So unique and delicious! read more

Everything I had at Butcher's Brewhuis was exceptional. I had the daily special, Huis Bowl, and the dish looked so simple but the flavor was so unique. I'm usually can't eat bread alone, but their bread was so soft and kind of sweet. It made me love Dutch food! If you're ever take a random trip to Pella, come to Butcher's Brewhuis. We have been to butchers brewhouse a number of time and I've always had an excellent meal. I think their food has improved out there the last few years with the new chef. If you like me like beef and pork, this is the place to go definitely. The service is excellent. The ambience is very pleasant And not noisy. You will always get a good meal. I hope they have improved because they have so much potential. The building is delightful, the meat is wonderful (smoked pork chops are DELICIOUS), and prices are not out of line. Unfortunately the overall experience is disappointing. The sides are very pedestrian. Do they get the salad from a cellophane bags at Walmart? Potatoes are over cooked and not that hot, and veggie sides are uninspired. They do have a couple of good drinks, which would be fun on the rooftop deck, but they are pricey and not exciting served in the unimpressive setting of the second floor dining room. They just don't live up to the charm that you see from the outside, and their spectacular smoked meats get lost in the boring "diner" feeling setting. read more

We came here for lunch after a day of events at Pella's Tulip Time Festival. My Mom highly recommended it having been here a year ago and we are not at all disappointed. The food is amazing and we get to meet the master butcher Jerry. You can do outdoor dining facing the Central Park or you can go inside where they have a huge dining area on the first and upper floors. The other side of the restaurant is a deli/store and they have many choices from ham slices to artisan cheeses. I went here Saturday evening for my birthday. I invited my 16 year old son to join us. Little did I know this would exclude us from dinning upstairs in the dinning room. Instead we were seated in the lunch area for the meat market. It was 15 degrees out so every time to the door opened a cold draft blew across all the patrons dinning. Everyone was sitting in their winter coats, I even saw one gal at the table accords from me who left their stocking cap on. It was freezing!!! Why aren't teenagers allowed in the upstairs? It's no different at Applebee's....they can handle it. Secondly I came here to get a ribeye for my birthday. After we ordered, a few minutes later we were informed they were out of ribeyes. How is a meat market out of ribeyes? Next, I had to ask for a drink menu because we were seated without one. After a round of $9 mules I asked the staff for info on the whiskey flights as it was not included. The staff had to look it up on the computer and even after that when I asked them what it included they still didn't know. Lastly the kitchen staff was playing loud music in the kitchen from Eminem to Bohemian Rhapsody. I didn't mind the music or their singing along but it clashed with the music being played in the upstairs dinning room. It was like listening to two songs at the same time, only the kitchen was singing along. I wish they would have had some speakers in the lunch dinning area to drown out the other songs. The only saving grace for tonight, was the food was excellent. My son and I had to shift from the ribeye to the strip, but it was amazing. Cooked to perfection. My wife had the apple burger and said it was fantastic. Even the sides were good. Just wish everything else would have gone smoother for my birthday dinner. read more

Love this place! Great sandwiches and such an awesome atmosphere to have a quick bite! They use deli meat from the deli next door and have the best bologna sandwiches! They also offer gluten free bread, so they can typically make most of the sandwiches gluten-free. A definite must for anyone visiting Pella! read more

Attached to Int'Veld meat market toward the back, Opa's is a fantastic place for lunch!! Their panni's and sandwiches are fantastic and they are on fresh bread! Their soups and specials rotate daily and they are fresh and seasonal! I have to come here every time I come to Pella! This is a must stop place! The staff is always super friendly and they have seating past the counter as well as upstairs, and for the nicer months seating outside. The server never told us her name. Never offered anyone more water. We were served another party's food. Then we were served another party's appetizer. My order took 75 minutes to arrive. My friends (same party) had their orders arrive 15 minutes later. A medium burger was served super well done, with undercooked fries. Everyone around us was asking where their food was.
