We went there on a Saturday night to celebrate a birthday. Our group of 11 had a reservation and were quickly seated. I dropped a star because the menu has about stayed the same and they were out of one of the chicken dishes and it was only 6 PM. Our birthday gal wanted a simple pasta and they really don't just have that. I had a portobello fries and a hot honey chicken sandwich and both were very good. They were still tasty the next day. Three of us had dinner on a week night. We started with the portobello fries. I had the white bean and collard greens soup. And then the fall salad The Portobello mushroom fries were amazing!! Crispy. This is a must order item! I was thinking about them days later! This is basically the only sit down restaurant in Pella that's nicer. We were there during the Pella Tulip Festival, so we had about an hour wait to get sat which wasn't surprising, and we're were happy to wait. Our server though was either exhausted from the busy time of the festival or doesn't like her job, she made it very apparent she didn't want to be there, and it being my birthday I was pretty bummed out by her attitude. She offered other tables dessert menu but since we were about 20 minutes from closing after lunch we were just presented our check. Our food was great, it did take awhile, but again we knew what we were getting ourselves into! Everything was correct, came out hot, and delicious! Let me start off by saying the ambiance and decor here is BEAUTIFUL! It looked like a luxury cabin vibe with super mindful touches and finishes. They have a beautiful lounge area when you enter that features a warm fireplace and a few casual sitting areas to grab a drink. The staff was all super kind and helpful, as well as professional. I came here for dinner on a Tuesday. They begin with complimentary bread and olive oil, and it was delicious! I ordered the steak and fries which features their daily cut. The day I was there, it was NY Strip. Unfortunately the steak was not up to par, and it was covered in a sauce which I felt was used to cover the taste. I also ordered a side of Brussel sprouts and they did feel previously frozen as well with the other veggies mixed in. The other people I was with enjoyed their dishes, so it might have just been what I ordered or an off night. Amazing food! The cauliflower dish was delicious and I'm not even a big fan of cauliflower. I had the farro bowl and that was really good too. We tried three of the desserts. The bread pudding was the best. Just be prepared for it to be super sweet. The crème brûlée tasted very alcoholy and the raspberry pound cake wasn't that good at all. (I'd skip it.) I will drive back just to have those again. The Crab Cakes were the other appetizer, and they were good as well. I tried the Lobster Bisque which was flavorful but had no lobster which was disappointing. For my entrée I the Lobster Penne and Cheese, it had good flavor as well. I did try the Seedlips Crown Mocktail which tasted slightly like toothpaste, I wouldn't recommend. Pricing: Reasonably priced given the value of the food, worth every penny! Location/Parking: Finding parking was tricky as well as finding the actual restaurant. There is only street parking, so I had to park in front of another business. The restaurant is located on a corner inside of the Royal Amsterdam Hotel on the corner with the entrance down a passageway. A terrible dining experience. Our food took over an hour to arrive after ordering, arrived incorrect and overcooked and with our appetizer missing. When informing our server of the mistakes we got an "I'm sorry" and no attempts to correct the mistake or offer any sort of resolution. The best meals in Pella are found at LSK. The prices are reasonable for next level plates with a real chef that takes many of the standards and noticeably upgrades to AAA quality. That was no issue--we waited patiently and were eventually seated. However, once we ordered, the wait for our food was incredibly long, and when it finally came out, nothing was hot or fresh. The worst part? My brother ordered a filet mignon cooked medium, and it came out completely well-done. The server acknowledged the issue, removed it from the bill, and brought a replacement. But the second attempt wasn't any better--it was cooked medium-well and it wasn't even a filet. It was a roast. Completely different cut, flavor, and texture. After such a long wait and with such poor food quality, it felt like our special occasion was brushed off. I expected a much better experience based on the reviews, but sadly, I won't be returning or recommending this place to anyone. read more

Best all-around restaurant in Pella, IA. The staff is excellent. The ambiance is warm and inviting. The chef-inspired menu is excellent and includes a combination of go-to favorites and things you don't expect. The Iowa Corn Chowder is a favorite, as is the Chicken Parm. When I saw the "beast burger" as the special (combination of ground Wagyu beef, wild boar, and bison) I had to try it. It was amazing. So good, in fact, that it's become a regular on the menu. We ducked in during a freezing cold Kerstmarkt at the suggestion of helpful Amber and were welcomed with a warm fire and lovely Sarah who served up delicious seasonal cocktails and appetizers of portobello fries (soo good!) and onion rings. We were a larger group, 14 I think. Service was slow, waitress was not very nice, and the food was poor. I ordered the burger and was told I couldn't order it medium rare, it's how the chef did it. Well, he burned it and it was over salted. I ate 1/2 of it. The corn chowder was chunky, neither people that ordered it ate it. The 4 French onion soups were ok, but two came out and the next two came out 20 minutes later. When I asked about the missing two soups I got snapped at by the waitress. 3 hours later we were finally served, we passed on dessert. My wife and I have visited Pella several times but had not eaten at LSK. We stopped in for a quick lunch. The ambiance is inviting. The waitress was very nice and attentive to our needs although she was busy. We ordered the grilled cheese and braised brisket sandwich with a side of roasted Brussels sprouts. I'm not a fan of Brussel sprouts but loved these. The sandwich was delicious and a good size portion. I'm glad we split it. The Executive Chef walked by our table and we were able to talk with him for a few moments. Our son was an Executive chef for over 10 years so we appreciate great tasting food at reasonable prices. This is an upscale restaurant attached to the Royal Amsterdam Hotel. On this night I had the Liberty Burger, which was dry, but still a good burger- it needs more aioli sauce. The farm fries are beef-fat fried which was a nice touch! The green beans were ridiculously good- yes, I said green beans- who knew!! My waitress was excellent as she came around frequently enough to check on me but not too much. The turnaround on my food was pretty quick given the place was probably at 85 percent capacity. Multiple seating options (bar, high top tables, tables), and a neat place in general. It is slightly weird that most of the seating is on the backside of the bar without a view, but it is still a beautiful bar. The food was phenomenal, I would stick with the more casual plates. Fish n Chips was the winner from our table, as well as the Poutine. Fish n Chips was light and crispy, just perfect...and the poutine was smothered in gravy and topped with short ribs. The restaurant was very chic and trendy, it had a higher end trendy feel to it. The service was good, stopping by frequently to fill waters and make sure everything was good. I had the BBQ burger and was very pleased. I am a stickler for fresh never frozen patty and these were fresh making it one of the better burgers I've had in a long time. My daughter had the French dip and said she liked it a lot especially the au jus. But I would say the stand out of the meal was the portobello fries we started with. The plate was a parade of wonderful tastes that had me rolling my eyes with delight.
