I had been working with a sales manager via email for about a week regarding two used wranglers they had available online.  A black wrangler priced around $9700 and a red wrangler priced around $12000.  Same year, model and trim, but the black one had about 20k more miles.  We arranged for me to drive from Charleston on Friday to come check out both vehicles, but I was told that the black wrangler was still being serviced and hadn't hit the lot yet.  No problem. I drove to Beaufort as planned and met with the sales manager.  He informed me that the black wrangler was losing a lot of oil due to a bad seal or gasket and was not for sale - it would cost them too much to repair, and they were just going to sell it wholesale.  That was fine, and we took the red wrangler out to test drive. I decided to negotiate a deal on the red wrangler and he went to "the people upstairs" to get the numbers together.  He brought a pricing sheet with the VIN and info specific to the black wrangler, but the $12000 pricing for the red one, adding taxes and fees etc. to bring it to just under $14,000.  I pointed out the black jeep info, but was told that it was a mistake and that we all knew which wrangler we were negotiating. We finally negotiate a deal, and then it's off to the paperwork.  I'm paying full cash, so quick and easy.  I get all the paperwork done, bind insurance, and then move to the finance office to finalize the tag, title, and count out the cash.  As I'm signing title info, I notice that they've drawn up the information for the black wrangler that isn't even for sale.  After pointing this out, the finance team member heads off to "the people upstairs" to get the correct info and paperwork.  Despite some confusion with the initial paperwork, the team at Butler Chrysler Dodge Jeep worked to honor the deal that we had negotiated, and make sure that I left feeling great about my purchase. I brought my 2022 Ram 2500 in to have the oil changed and fuel filters replaced. When I picked the truck up from them after the service I noticed the "service air suspension" light was on (it was not on when I dropped it off) I left the truck with them and asked them to look at it. The tried to charge me $200 to diagnose the issue (I managed to talk my way out of that since the light only came on after they took the truck). They called me back saying the air suspension control module needed to be replaced entirely which would cost a little over $3000. I decided to take the truck to a diesel shop to look at it, and they found that the air suspension control module was completely unplugged. This is not something that comes unplugged accidentally; there were 4 wires that had been clamped and unplugged from the module. The shop plugged those wires back in to the module and the light came off and the air suspension was instantly back to working as normal. I don't know if Butler was trying to scam me or if their technicians are completely incompetent but they have completely lost my trust. I'm also confident that if I had paid them to $3000 to replace the ASCM, they wouldn't have even done that and they would've just just plugged the wires back in. read more

2/10/25 I had a service appointment at Butler Dodge Jeep to do 3 services for my 2000 Jeep Wrangler with 145,000 miles on it. 1. Front Differential oil changed, 2. Rear DIfferential oil change. 3. Transfer case oil changed. The price I was quoted was $145+tax per service. It was fair so I booked it. I missed the call around 11am saying they needed to talk to me about what they found. I was able to talk to the service adviser Stephanie around 1pm. The new quote she gave me put the repair in the $3000 range + or - for new work plus the original work. ( See R.O. attached below) A seal was leaking in the rear and front needed new bearings. I didn't have that money so after talking to my wife we asked that they put the cover back on and we would tow it home until we could afford to fix it. Stephanie said she understood and gave me a price of $87 so I could arrange to have it towed with nothing fixed. We hung up. A few minutes later she called to let me know that the bill was actually $248.50. I asked for an explanation she said they did do the transfer case service and replaced the oil in the rear differential. I said even though the real seal is leaking? She said yes. Again I asked so you replaced the oil knowing it would leak out? again she said yes. Needless to say I was not happy. But the tow truck driver was on the way so I paid it to get it out of there. Once it got home I was able to look at the front differential. The pictures attached show what I found. None of the bolts around the differentail had markings on it to show the had touched them or been removed. They were caked on road grime. The pictures below also show once I did remove the cover that water had gotten in over time so the oil now looked like gray primer paint but the bearings were fine. There is a leak for the front pinion seal but that was it. All toll it took me 3 hours (that includes going to get front and rear pinion seals and oil) parts cost $85 from Napa. I emailed Butler Dodge Jeep yesterday morning in an effort to talk to the manager about a resolution. None called but sales did wanting to know if I wanted to buy a new Jeep since mine had issues. The young lady was very nice and since she had nothing too do with the service debacle I explained I was not in the market for a new car and asked if she would mind sending it on to the Manager. She said she would. It's sad that you trust professionals to do the right thing. This service department and mechanics give the industry a bad name. Very dishonest. If I paid a mechanic $100 an hour including me running around my total cast would have been $385 including parts, not the $3000 plus quoted by the dealership for things that were not broken as they stated. My advice - Do not get your vehicle serviced here. It would not let me post a minus star or no star so for the record based on the total they wanted for the job I give them a -3.7 stars read more

I live in NJ and have been working the past 5 days online, through emails and phone calls with Joey Kuszczak, Sales Person and the past 2 days with Mike Block, Sales Manager. I was looking to purchase a New 2022 Dodge Charger Widebody Scat Pack they have listed for sale online and on their website, at 5000 over sticker. After negotiating we came to an agreed upon offer at $2500 over sticker at $72,432.00 out the door, with $12,432.00 down financing $60,000.00 at 48 months. During this time, I offered, several times, mind you, to put $2500.00 down to hold the car so it was not sold, but I was refused! I was told I could put the whole $12,432.00 down and the car would be mine, which wait a min, I can't give you money to hold the car for me, but I can buy the car sight unseen. Red Flag is thrown up! I had called to enquire about a new Ram 1500 which I determined wasn't right for me. They subsequently bombarded me with phone calls (which I ignored). I finally called them on a Saturday morning and told them that I wasn't responding to their Phone calls because the only vehicle on their lot that I would be interested in was out of my price range, and I didn't think they were able to get the price where I needed it to be. I was asked where I needed the price to be to make a deal. I told her $41,000, and she asked me if that was before taxes or out the door. I told her before taxes. She said she would speak to a sales manager and see what they could do for me. She called me back and told me that although they didn't think they could meet the $41,000 price, they could come close. I asked how close. She told me around $42,000. I drove an hour and a half to their dealership and test drove the vehicle. When they sat down with me to give me a price they quoted $45,723, a full $3723 more than they said they could meet for me, and almost $2000 more than The price they advertised on their website. Made an appointment week prior for just a simple oil change, showed up 20 early, when I walked in two women sitting on the right side were literally stuffing their faces with mc Donald's , papers ever very disorganized. I stood in front of them for about 3 minutes before I had to ask if they were service lol I know right! Start off was not good. Told them I was a bit early for my appointment handed the keys, and I was asked to take a seat. The check engine light on our 2015 Jeep Wrangler JKU Sahara came on which rendered "misfire on cylinder 2" when we took it to the local advanced auto for them to read the code. Now, I took the Jeep to Butler since this is where it was purchased from to get the issue fixed. When I voiced my concerns that it may be the common bad cylinder head on the Pentastar V6, I was told that "that is a problem with the bigger Jeep engines, not the 3.6" (the pentastar 3.6l v6 is the only engine offered on the jku..) Mind you, I also let them know how rough it was idoling and ticking like a diesel. they attempted the "software flash update for the pcm" that every Chrysler dealership attempts to do in this case and of course, just like every other instance like this, it didn't work. It was apparently discovered the lower intake assembly was warped and they replaced it. Three days later, I picked up the Jeep and 20 minutes later, the check engine light was back on. When we called we were told, "some carbon buildup from replacing the intake probably fell into the engine and is causing the light" the Jeep is now idling more rough than before we brought it in and ticking louder. Upon hooking up the OBD2 reader, now only three hours after picking up the "fixed" Jeep, the check engine light is due to "cylinder #2 misfire. Fancy that. It should also be mentioned that as the end of the service report it is stated " All is now working as designed." Obviously not. Will update read more

DO NOT GO TO BUTLER DODGE JEEP in BEAUFORT!!!!!!! I took my Jeep to Butler Jeep to get the heater core replace, they left coolant all over the floorboards, that's fine people make mistakes. Then I noticed it was super hard to get Into first from a stop. They said it was something that cost $1000 and didn't resolver it (the shift select and slave something). I took it back a few days later because it was still sticking, the tech that worked on it processed to argue with me saying it's fixed. They kept it for a week and "couldn't replicate it". They said they adjusted the motor mount and that should have done the trick. A few days later I bring it back with the same issue. Finally I made the tech let me drive and he said "oh that's your fly wheel and pressure plate". At this point I already have the service manager involved. A month and a half goes by after they said they are ordering parts to fix it for me, still haven't heard anything. They finally call and say that there transmission tech has to look at it. I thought I was waiting on parts. Just got off the phone with the service manager, she said she was waiting on us to bring it in so their transmission tech can look at it. (Wait what?!? I thought we were waiting on parts) so I'm stuck with a crappy shift select that installed that fixed nothing and my issue is still not resolved. OHHH and the service manager said they don't cut corners, besides leaving coolant on floor boards and charge people to do a job and don't actually fix the problem!! I was going to look into getting a gladiator next year. NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!!!!! I'm going to get the new bronco!!! Unless they change their minds and make this right!! read more

I found a used Ram truck on the Butler Dodge website. I sent a message to see if that specific truck was there. I was told it was, so I planned to stop in and look at this truck. I was told that would be great. It was not great...I drove to the dealership first thing on a Monday morning and was greeted and was referred to the young man that does web sales. I told him I was there to see the truck we talked about. I was then told that the specific truck was on a different lot and they would not bring it over just for me unless I agreed to a price, SIGHT UNSEEN!! Then they said they might have something on this lot that would work. The "sales manager" then took my keys to have my truck appraised. After 45 minutes of being directed to trucks that did NOT come close to what I had asked for, the sales manager is attempting to create a deal sheet and push me into a purchase. At this point I asked for my keys back so I could get out of there. The sales person went to get my keys, but instead came back with a story saying that there was someone else interested in the same used truck that I was originally there to see and so they'd be willing to bring the truck over after all. Smelled like B.S. Why would you not accommodate a customer?! I had to go back in and insist that the "sales manager" give my keys back. I told him that I was there to look at a particular truck that i was told was there and it wasn't and was then pressured to buy a truck i didn't want then over an hour of my time was wasted as they held my keys hostage. Horrible way to do business! Neither I or anyone I know will ever buy a vehicle from Butler. We are a dodge family (3 Caravans, Ram, and Charger) and we will go elsewhere for our future Dodge vehicles. read more

Now this place surprised me. My Ram 1500 ecodiesel threw a code and I had it looked here and sure enough it is one of those emission sensors. Since the part needs to be ordered and it will take a few days to arrive, I was given a rental and didn't even have to fill it up, as long as it is somewhat the same amount of fuel. Horrid!! I first went to this dealership to get my 2013 Jeep fixed. The radio had no sound, but the speakers worked because Pandora would play, also, the heater had stopped working on the drivers side. The service department was so horrible, when they told me what they were trying even I knew that wasn't going to do anything and I'm not a mechanic. You'd think dealership mechanics would know about their own vehicles. I don't know if they ever got it fixed, I ended up trading it in for a 2013 Dodge Ram. Well, I bought an extended warranty with the truck. After a few months the digital display in the cluster went out and my ac was acting up. I called the service department to make an appt and the lady told me that I would have to pay 2 different diagnostics since it was 2 different problems. I asked if my ac was under warranty and she told me that they would have to tear everything apart to see what the problem was before they would know. I asked, "Why would you tear everything apart first?" Again, I'm not a mechanic, but I do know for ac work, first you check that the ac really isn't working, then you check for leaks, and then you check that the compressor is getting power. What a load of BULL from that service department!! I ended up taking my truck to the Dodge dealership in Orangeburg instead, they are amazing there and I will never go back to Butler again!! I will say that the salesman and the finance guy were wonderful! But the service department killed it for me at this dealership! read more

They agreed... 2 weeks after the sale was complete... I get a call from the car sales man stating I had to have SC insurance... when I re-stated for the 15th time I said GA registration.. he told me that's not what I told them and that it was my fault but he could fix it over the phone for a fee.. which I paid to Butler Dodge Chryler..... two weeks later I get pulled over by the Police for driving a stolen car!!!! While the buying experience went fairly smoothly, our experience with the run-around has been horrible! Our new vehicle (2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited) was never detailed nor were we ever given the tutorial on how to remove the soft top when we took delivery of the vehicle. (Yes - I know we can YouTube it but it should be part of the customer "service".) We took it back up to have the compass calibrated and they chose to drive through mud and STILL didn't hose it off. A week after we took delivery, we tried to fuel it up only to have the pump shut off after dispensing 0.50 cents worth of fuel. Tried a different pump - same thing. Tried a different station - same thing. Tried yet another pump - same thing. 8 different pumps at 4 different stations. I take the vehicle in (I called for an appointment first) and explain the problem AND the fact that it had never been detailed prior to delivery. I sat for 90 minutes. After growing weary of hearing no word, I walk back to Service and inquire about my Jeep. I was told, "Oh, they took it up and put gas in it and it didn't give them any trouble." So.... I've been sitting for NINETY minutes and NO ONE could come tell me that?! Then they proceeded to speak to me as if I'm a moron who has never attempted to put fuel in a car before (I've been driving longer than most of them have been alive) and I told them that both myself and my husband had tried to refuel it. I'm asked to "hang on" while they go discuss. I sit for ANOTHER 30 minutes until I, AGAIN, go inquire. They then want me to ride with their customer "satisfaction" person to fuel the vehicle. As I walk out, I see... there's still mud on it. So, not only have they been letting me sit for TWO hours now, they haven't even bothered to wash it. We took it up to an Exxon and yes, it did fine. There's "nothing" they can do since they cannot replicate the issue. I bring it home and my husband advises me that he had received a phone call WHILE I WAS THERE that our tags came in. SERIOUSLY??? Again, NO ONE could bother to get off their asses to come tell me that?? I have a Jeep dealer within 5 miles of my house - I don't need to drive 30 minutes to Beaufort but they were begging me to please give them another chance to "make it right". Fast forward to the next week when it's time to refuel again. Guess what??? SAME ISSUE! This time, we video it. I go back in (without the vehicle) to sit down face to face with the general manager to discuss all my aggravations. He "understands" fully and asks me to bring it back to HIM the next morning and HE would ensure it would be taken care of. I showed up the next morning and went to hand off my keys when he tells me that someone ELSE would be handling that for me. Um.... oookkkkaaayyyy... That was on a Thursday morning. Today is Tuesday. I had not heard one single thing from them AT ALL until this morning when Miss Customer "Satisfaction" called me to advise that the Jeep was ready and that the General Manager wanted to know when he might be able to bring it TO OUR HOUSE where he will show us how to remove the soft top (no - that still had never been done). I tell her my husband is very busy but I will find out. I then ask her about the repair. She was very vague with me. I contact my husband and he calls the GM, who immediately advised him to BRING the loaner back and pick up our Jeep. Wasn't he supposed to come to US? And I'll bet dimes to donuts you can guess what's coming next! NO repair was done because they couldn't find the issue. I call the CS girl back and she apologizes that she didn't "mean to say that" he would come to us. That's when I lost it. I am livid (obviously). This dealership is SHIT when it comes to service and customer "satisfaction". NO follow up. NO resolution. If it takes someone at Butler to actually get off their asses and try to troubleshoot to find out what the problem is, you can forget it. You are on your own! read more

Don't just take my word alone. This dealership has been given a business rating of "F" due to its unresolved customer complaints... On 8 June 2016, a nail punctured the front left tire. I made an appointment with Butler CDJ the next day for: front end alignment, flat tire repair, check all six tire pressures, and car wash. I had Road Side Assistance put the spear tire on the front left. The spare tire is the exact same brand and specifications as the other six tires: with the exception that the rim is black and the tire lacks shine and is a little dirty from being positioned on the under carriage of the truck. All the rims are Alcoa's chrome and polished without scratches. On 10 June 2016, after the Service Advisor (Brad), inspected the flat tire, the Service Advisor informed me that the nail was too close to the out wall of the tire and that the tire could not be repaired. Additionally, the dealership didn't have that specific tire in stock. I requested that the mechanic replace the spare tire on the Alcoa rim with the flat and I'll shop around for a new tire to put onto the spare rim. When my vehicle was returned I noticed that the from left tire looked appropriate but, all tire pressures were off and the front right tire was very dirty. I thought the mechanic drove through mud when the vehicle was being test driven. I mentioned to the Service Advisor that my front right tire was very dirty. The Service Advisor said that the dealership car washers don't normally do a good job, I would be best to do it elsewhere. I thanked the Service Advisor and drove away. I purchased a tire pressure gauge to properly adjust my tire pressure. When I started to check the tire pressures I discovered that the front right tire Alcoa rim had deep scratches. Like It had been sitting on gravel and dragged. Additionally, I noticed that the valve stem had was different from the other three. At first appearance, I thought the front right tire did not belong to me because this tire was very different, in appearance, then the other tires on the vehicle. The side wall of the other three tire were clean with a luster shine. I returned to the Butler CDJ dealership on 13 June 2016 and showed the Service Advisor the evidence concerning the front right tire and stated my concern. I told him that the front right tire was not the same tire I drive into the dealership on 10 June 2016. I told him the tire was dirty, the rim was scratched, and the valve stem was different from the other three on the other tires. He examined the tire, admitted that this was serious problem, and went to get the Service Manager (Keri). The Service Manager said that she didn't think that her mechanic switched tires and the she doesn't have rims like the one on my truck lying around that can be easily switched out. The Service Manager began to get irate and loud with me, even cutting me off when I attempted to fully explain my concerns. She stated her mechanic would never do such a thing. The Service Manager preceded to tell me that the she did me a favor by replacing and paying for a tire valve sensor that the mechanic broke while working with my tire. I told the Service Manager that no one provided me with information and that I didn't know that until she mentioned this to me; Why was I not informed of this when my vehicle was being serviced? She said no one told me because she paid for it and I didn't need to know. I told her that due to the fact that I am the rightfully owner of the vehicle and you broke my property, I would need to know regardless of who pays for the damage - that is the main staple of CUSTOMER CARE!! The Service Manager said that she will ask the mechanic about the tire issue first thing the next morning and give me a call. I told the Service Manager that if I wasn't provided the minor detail of a broken tire valve sensor, how much integrity would your mechanic have in being truthfully about scratching my Alcoa rims and/or switching them out? She said she trusts the mechanic; and that she will get an answer a call me first thing in the morning. (IMMEDIATELY, I WAS NOT CONVIENCED THAT SHE WOULD KEEP HER WORD) That night, using the information the Service Manager provided to me, I figured out what might have happened. The mechanic damaged my rim during the repairs (scratching the rim and breaking the valve sensor); and to cover up the damage he removed the good tire from the right side to the left side of the vehicle and put the damaged rim with spare tire, from the left side, onto the right side of the vehicle to make it look like all was well. It is wonderful when you find an auto repair service department that is friendly, efficient, and reasonable. Butler's Service department is just that. I've visited this service department over five times getting oil changes and whatnot; every time I had a wonderful experience. It is always nice to have a complimentary car wash after the service is completed too. The only minor negative I have is the waiting area. It could modernized a bit (I've visited better). But, they do provide complimentary coffee and cold water from the water cooler. Note: I did not purchase my vehicle here (I purchased my Dodge in GA), so I don't have any comments to share about the sales side other than the waiting area that I touched on earlier. read more

I am horrified knowing the kind of service Butler Dodge of Beaufort renders. Most recently I took my vehicle to be service for a wind sound noise and diagnostic testing. As a result of my car beings serviced, I was informed that I was in need of a radiator and a rear-seal. The total overall cost was $1600.00. Service was rended and total payment paid. I pick up the vehicle on November 8, 2019, thinking that all was covered and taken care of as for as my vehicle was concerned. Five mile down the road I heard the same exact noise that I brought my truck in to be serviced for. I was inform that I needed another diagnostic test. Butler Dodge always seems to find something wrong, other than or in addition to what the car was intended to be service for. I drove the car 4 days later and noted the heater didn't seems to be getting warm. The vehicle seems to be running hot so I stopped, shut it off and restarted it to see if it would run better. I came across Broadriver Bridge and to my astonishment the vehicle expired at 7:30 at night, in the hwy, in the dark and rain. 911 and tow truck was called ($350.00). Casey Logan told me I would need an in-depth diagnostic of the engine. At present time I, I am driving around in a rental, costing a total of $300.00 a week, missed day of work, vehicle tow several time. I was told by Brian Doffer that I now need an engine at the cost of 2800.00. This is 2013 Dodge Durango bought new from Butler Dodge of Beaufort. One driver with 85000 miles at present time. I truly believe that something needs to be done by Butler Chrysler Dodge of Beaufort to rectify this entire matter. read more

Salesmen/women are very accommodating knowledgeable and friendly and highly recommended. I worked with Mr. Charles personally I give him 6/5 stars. However take your vehicle somewhere else to get repaired. My truck has 6000 miles on it and the brakes were squealing for about a month before I brought it in. Mechanics said they couldn't hear a thing and it was fine. He then had the audacity to be rude when I asked a few questions. Don't waste your time for repairs go somewhere else read more

On Thursday, June 25th, I went to the Parts department to order a piece for my tailgate on my 2017 Dodge Ram, This is the 3rd vehicle I have purchased from this dealership in 4 years and have never had any complaints with any department...until now. I ordered the part and proceeded to pay at the cashier window. I then asked the girl waiting on me at the parts counter if they offer military discounts. She looked at me and pointed towards the parts department, never said a word, while she continued on finalizing my purchase order payment. She then gave me my invoice but never gave me an answer about the military discount. I then said 'ma'am you never gave me an answer about the military discount'. And once again, she pointed to the parts department. There was a man standing there this time so I went to ask him about the discount. He said they did honor military discounts but only if the total was for a certain amount or higher. He checked my invoice to see if it was, in fact, eligible and it was, but, let them know next time to get my discount. I asked him how much the discount would have been and he told me. (It would have been $23) At this point; the money didn't even matter, it became the principle of the matter. He never once offered to cancel the order and get it redone and give me the discount. I finally asked if I could cancel my order and he responded that I could if that is what I wanted to do. So, I cancelled and went online and ordered the same part for a third of what they were charging me. Which is a real shame because I believe in shopping local. I will never step foot in this dealership again. What happened to customer satisfaction and going the extra mile occasionally? read more

Worst service department in Beaufort! Made an appointment for an oil change and tire rotation. Several months ago I was here for the same service and without an appointment I waited over 3 hours. This time, I thought I was being smart. I've now been waiting over 2 hours when I was told at check in it would be no longer than 1 hour and 15 minutes. This place is full of very unhappy customers. My husband and I purchased a Chrysler 200 in 2017, and have a full coverage warranty that is close to being up. We purchased this car brand new and Mr. Charles Manigo was our salesman. He did a fantastic job and went over and beyond in customer service! He and the other sales people were so accommodating and nice to us. They all deserve 5***** for their wonderful service, however the auto service center is horrible. With that being said, the check engine light has came on within the past two months about 3-4 times, and we have noticed that we have had to add oil to the car and /or getting more frequent oil changes. We relayed this information to the service center and was advised the first two times, there was no oil leak and they didn't find anything wrong. We even went so far as to go to auto advance and have our car plugged up and gave them the diagnosis codes. Finally, I had to go to the place myself and explain that it is leaking oil and it needs to be fixed. Took the car there Friday evening and made an appt. for Saturday morning @ 9am. They never offered to give us a rental, we had to go somewhere else, also they didn't call to update us on our car. we called there on Tuesday yesterday and learned that they were going to try and "squeeze" us in and they ordered some parts, b/c this time, they did find an oil leak, like we told them the first time. It felt like they forgot about our car in the first place seeing as it has been there since Friday night for a 9am Sat. appt, and no one called to let us know anything until we called on Monday. This has caused such a HUGE inconvenience being that we have been paying for rental car (an unexpected expense) and they never offered to let us drive one of their's due to their inconvenience and negligence. the Chrysler dealership is a great place to shop for a car, but horrible for auto repairs. I recommend you go somewhere else to receive repairs in the future. We will be asking for a reimbursement for the money for a rental, and will be considering going somewhere else in the future to service our car, and recommend you do the same. read more
