Maybe it's because there's something about cars that calms me down. I love working on them…read more Learning and fixing things DIY style. So this is probably the best place and one of the cheapest place to find used parts for your car. $1 to rent a wheel barrow. Bring your tools and you're ready to go hunting. Just go through rows and rows and rows of cars that they have on the lot. We were looking for wheels and a rear hatch switch for my chevy blazer. The wheels were pretty easy to find. $40/wheel is a very good deal. Specially when I'm just swapping the tires out for winter treads. The switch was a bit harder to find. I felt like we searched each and every one of the same car or similar til we found one that has the clips still intact. Anyways,, for less than $200,, I walked away with a good switch and four rims for my chevy blazer, and I'm definitely a happy camper. I'll probably be coming back again next time for other items. I really feel the happiest when I'm doing things that give me a sense of accomplishment in the end. Specially when doing dirty man stuff like ripping parts off and putting it back together in your car. And for that,, I truly do appreciate you Taylor Auto Salvage. Thank you for reading my review. I hope this helps.

When I got home, I was finally able to take it in, and was told that I had a cracked wheel. The next day at work, I was griping to a couple friends about how much this was likely to cost and they both suggested that I go to a junkyard. I had always heard about junkyards, but had never been to one. When I checked the yellow pages, I was happy to see that there was one so close to me and decided to go check it out. Boy, am I glad I did! Price at Discount Tire - $155; price at Ryan's Junkyard - $85, plus a $10 rebate for giving them the cracked wheel. It was a pretty cool experience, too. It is in the ghetto (8 Mile & Wyoming) but if you don't mind that its a definite gold mine. All the people are super friendly and helpful - and trilingual. They've got a whole yard plus a couple warehouses of scrapped cars and salvaged parts, so you can find pretty much anything you need at a good price. Now that I know where this is, and am familiar with how it works, I will definitely go here whenever I need anything in the future.

I have been on a couple of occasions to buy a part. This last visit was for a replacement aluminum…read morerim. Thanks to Michigan potholes I needed to replace a rim and tire. I called and they promptly looked up my vehicle need and found my rim for $45 with exchange of the old rim. That price was much cheaper than the others wanting $130+. I arrived and waited about 15 minutes for them to find the rim and mount my tire ($5 extra). Overall I have been satisfied with the service and selection of salvage parts. TIP: They don't put the parts on when you buy them from the counter. They open at 8am on Saturday and you should arrive early since they close at 2pm.

Their prices are good, not super cheap, but they definitely wont break your wallet. If you're in a pinch and need a new tire, they'll install one for you for 20 bucks. They do oil changes and all the basic regular maintenance you need for a car. If something is broken, they will use their huge salvage lot inventory to find a replacement part. If they dont have it, they can get it from elsewhere. Each time my car has been fixed, theyve done a phenomenal job. The one downside is that you will probably have to wait, because they are very busy. But once its your turn, they're quick to get you in and out. I'd recommend arriving at 830 or 845 am and waiting for them to open. Then you'll be out in no time. Otherwise, bring a book and take a seat!
