Stopped in her around 6pm on a Wednesday. I tasted their food at a catered event which was yummy, so I decided to go to the actual restaurant. I ordered the friend chicken with rice and peas, plantain and salad. There were 2 ladies at the counter. One took my order as soon as I walked in. I received it in about 5 minutes. I wish they had an all day lunch special like some other Jamaican restaurants. I paid like $25 for 2 small chicken dinners. Food was good but the chicken was not crispy. Rice and gravy was yummy. I usually get my Jamaican food from another popular restaurant but based on the curry goat I had yesterday, I maybe switching. We opened the bag and the smell drew me in. That was voodoo good. We also had the liver that was served with green bananas that was good to. The only thing that wasn't a hit was the chicken foot soup. We prefer a little more pumpkin and flavor to ours. The have an ad on Restaurant.com and we purchased a $30 gift certificate for the restaurant. After ringing up the order, the cashier said she didn't know how to use the gift certificate. She went and got the owner, who then denied aver authorizing the ad on Restaurant.com. Yet the add had a lot of detailed info about their restaurant. Heard nothing but good reviews about Butter Flakes. Yesterday I decided to stop by just for their Fried Chicken-it was so flavorful, crunchy and delicious. I really enjoyed it reminded me of Fried chicken back in Jamaica. The service was fast, within minutes I was cashed out and served. Inside was clean they have an area where you can dine in. Today, 3/16/25 was the straw that broke the camel's back. I went around 5:15pm for dinner, I ordered a curry goat, rice and peas, asked for no gravy and less bones as I've come here many times and often receive more bones than portions of meat. After getting my food, I decided to eat in. 1/2 way through eating, I found a big piece of clear plastic bag and a piece of brown paper bag in my take out plate. I went to the counter to tell the older gentleman in private, but he had an attitude. He began yelling, "You can speak!" So I responded and told him I found plastic in the food and I asked for fewer bones and I got more bones and lots of gristle and tripe. He asked if this was the first time I found plastic. I said yes. He then responded that he has no control over the butcher and how they give them the meat. Then he asked how long have I been coming here, I said a few years. He said I'm never satisfied that and that I must not come back here again to eat. The curry goat has excessive bones and muscle, never a good grade of mutton. As a busy person who doesn't mind spending money on 3-4 meals a day, this is very disturbing to know my hard earnings were eaten on that meal. What I found disappointing is Chris, the owner, later came out saying we are about to close. He waited at the door to let me out, and I told him the gentleman was very rude and that I will not come back again. He did not ask me my side of the story, he just closed the door behind me. This shows poor quality of food, cleanliness, and poor customer service on their part. There is no way that a piece of plastic bag in my take out plate would pass food inspection laws. read more

I had an unfortunate experience there. I went out my way to try it after a recommendation but am very disappointed with the place. I ordered a large brown stew chicken, picked my order and drove home only to find leftover fried chicken with ketchup sauce in my package. I was so unhappy I just threw it away after I called and was unable to speak to a live person. Will NEVER go back there. Ordered curry goat today and took it home to eat. I opened the container and a short, black curly hair was on a piece of goat. Looks like hair from a man's beard. I called the restaurant to make them aware of the issue to only be told It was GOAT hair. WTH ? Really? No type of hair should be in my food. There was no skin on the goat. However, no disrespect to the surrounding popular Jamaican spots like Donna's, Carl's, Golden Crust, or Dutch Pot...but they pale in comparison to Butter Flakes and that is a huge understatement. I have tried about 3 dishes so far and everything, and I mean everything thing has been ON POINT. If you get either the jerk chicken or pork, don't forget to accompany them with a loaf of HTB hard dough bread that they sell there. (*sidenote HTB HD bread is where it's at now that Yummy changed their recipe.) Oxtail is flavorful and when paired with the gungu rice and peas????!!!!! . Mi cyaan lie tho, I keep coming back to the curry goat !!!!!!! It's perfectly spicy just the way I like it with nuff gravy over white rice. The meals come with a few pieces of fried plantain and a green salad. My greedy self took only one picture the first time I went. See below. Prices are reasonable to the portions, and they also sell a wide array of Jamaican juices and soft drinks. But the icing on the cake is the service and overall friendliness of ALL the staff. Been meaning to try this place so I stopped in for a quick lunch on my way to work. I ordered their oxtail lunch special & a beef patty. Food was prepared in back so you could not see the food prior. Was quite surprised when I saw how small the lunch special was especially for $9. It was maybe half the size of a small plate at most Caribbean restaurants. I said I'd give it a chance as food may be delish despite the size so I paid and left. This review gets 3 stars because the patty was good having the right amount of spice but not over powering the flavor. Didn't like the look of the meat inside but it was good nonetheless. Oxtail plate now, different story as it was basic at best. Oxtail lacked in flavor as well as rice and they only gave 3 pieces of oxtail. I liked that they give steam cabbage on side plus plantain but I only got 1 of those. Location is also poor to access especially if there's a lot of traffic so don't go near here during rush hour. The people here are nice and friendly. We had a few items from the menu on this rainy Saturday. The jerk pork is really really good and so is the fried chicken. The jerk chicken was ok but if I order it again I have to get it well done. The skin on the jerk chicken we had was very undercooked for my liking BUT the chicken was moist. It has a subtle ease in, followed by a flavorful smoky taste, ending with a slight spice that fills your mouth with a fantastic experience. After driving by this place several times o finally decided to try it. I was not disappointed. I had the curry shrimp and rice and it was the MOST flavorful entree I have ever had from any restaurant EVER! The rice was well seasoned and dark just like I like it!
