I guess it depends on how many show up for a class. Superrr Fun!! We had a Bachelorette Party here, and it was a great time! Sarah was super nice & Girl Got Moves! The studio is located in the back of the gym in a secluded area, so you get some eye candy on the way lol. I love this studio so much. Not only are the classes priced very reasonably, especially if you buy packages/a membership, but literally all of the staff here are so helpful and considerate. I've never had a bad class and I've taken pole tricks, pole choreo, flexibility, lyra, silks, and aerial sling. Sarah (the owner of the studio) is incredibly genuine, she's a real light. Also very down to earth even though she can do amazing things on the pole :) Kaku is also awesome, she usually teaches Level 3 pole, and she knows how to push you enough to get the most progress without things going over into burnout/dangerous territory. Love her for that. Also shoutout to Audrey who teaches silks and K. Berg who teaches Lyra. I've seen tremendous progress on all apparatus after coming here for only 6 months. On pole I went from being unable to do an extended butterfly to now working on my Ayesha. In silks I was able to get my windmill drop after 5 YEARS of failing to at other studios with Audrey's help. I had a great time here for a friends birthday. First off it's massive! Probably the biggest pole studio I've ever seen. The way it's lit up it looks like a club. They even have a stage! I had no clue all that was in the back of my gym. Which brings me to my next point, it's behind powerhouse gym athletic club so many might not know it is there. The class was fun and engaging. One thing I loved about it is they actually went over the dancing aspect instead of just trying tricks. I loved the flow of it. Usually I get bored in pole classes because it's all about doing tricks on the pole and not combining it with a flow of dance. This class did a great job of it. Hands down, my favorite place this year. For my new years resolution, I wanted to start a hobby that kept me active and would give me more confident and empower me. So I went on a limb and decided to try pole dancing. I started in January and I did 1 class a week (4 classes a month) until end of April. Then from April to June, I've been doing the unlimited package and been going to 6-8 classes a week. I've fallen in love, definitely want to keep this up. It's given me so much more confidence in my body and makes me feel sexier and more empowered. I'll be moving to Chicago soon and I am very very sad to be leaving this studio, but excited to keep pole-ing. The instructors are AMAZING. My favorite is definitely Krystal, she is super fun and hands on when she needs to be and very encouraging. I love her combos and the way she runs class. I also really love Christina, great energy and sass. Overall, environment is very warm and welcoming, if it is your first time don't be scared! They are really great with meeting you where your at and giving variations to make moves harder or easier depending on your skill level. Everyone, including the students, have always been super sweet with me. My favorite classes are the Level 1/2, Racy Basics, and Daily Grind. This is an amazing workout. The only con I would say is that the classes do fill up fast so you have to probably sign up a week or more in advance. And lately there has been for some reason, more students in the class then there are spots. So then the instructor ends up giving their pole to the extra students which sometimes makes learning and following combos harder. But its not horrible. Not sure if they'll fix that soon. read more

I love absolutely everything about the studio, with two caveats: 1) Only expect half a workout. You will only have access to your workout for half the time, minus cleaning every time you switch. Can you even imagine taking a barre, Pilates, or yoga class, and being expected to sit aside and watch every time you're just getting warmed up or catching on to a new movement? This might be fun if you go with a friend, but I happened to be paired with somebody who is terrified of covid, so my efforts to be respectful of her space resulted in me constantly feeling like I was in everybody's way, and I just didn't get anything at all out of the class. 2) There was a Black Friday special, and when I explained the error I was getting, the owner just said it worked for her and to be certain I was typing the code correctly. So I took the time to send a screenshot video showing exactly what was happening ... and she never replied (her explanation was that it was late at night, but that doesn't explain the entire next day). When I went in for my next scheduled class, her only comment to me was that the sale was over (I hadn't even asked for anything, so it came across as a bit abrupt). I doubt she even bothered to watch the video showing that I had typed everything in correctly, and happened to be on the wrong end of some sort of glitch. It just could've been handled better. Even if I had done something wrong, she knew I had spent a lot of time trying to get the discount to work, and could still have either helped me the following day, or offered to adjust it manually in the studio. It felt like a very clear message that i'm not valued as a client. To their credit, if nothing goes wrong for you, the place is an absolute delight. If she doesn't find a reason to be annoyed with you (I apologized for having been an inconvenience, and she wasn't even gracious enough to reply to that), the owner is an incredible instructor and has really great energy - makes the classes super fun and accessible. I've tried several studios and, those two issues aside, it would've been my favorite hands down. I was reluctant to write this because I know it will just make my remaining time there more awkward, but these are things I wish I had known going in. Maybe, if I hadn't been taken by surprise, they would have been less of an issue and this would have been more of a positive experience. The potential is definitely there for that. read more

I had already been pole dancing for a year before I gave this studio a try and it was only because it was a bit far for me living in Brandon. Great decision though! In just one month I had completely challenged myself, learned all new moves, and was sore all over just like when I first started. I was taking Intermediate classes where you will see all different skill levels. While this can be slightly intimidating, different variations of moves were taught to challenge everyone. You do share poles in this studio, but if you're still working on strength and stamina the breaks in between are greatly welcomed. If you want to have fun and really start seeing progress I'd suggest this studio. I loved every class I took, including dance, tricks, chair dance and handstands. Awesome studio! read more

I have been going here since I moved to Tampa in 2012 and have had the opportunity to watch the studio and its members continue to grow and evolve. The owner, Sarah, is AMAZINGLY talented and although she has been collecting titles and growing as a professional each and every year, she is one of the kindest, most down-to-earth women you will ever meet. Her patience, creativity, and positivity have made this a safe place for many. The classes offer variety in styles, skill levels, music, equipment (poles, aerial silks, aerial hoops, etc), and objective (cardio, strength, flexibility, tricks, floorwork, fundamentals, etc). Buttercup is a wonderful pole/aerial studio full of positive energy, supportive instructors, and a body-positive/all gender inclusive environment. They also have good progressions, practices and crash pads to help you explore this world safely. This studio and the friends I have made here are among the things I will miss most when I move away. Pro Tips: -Apple maps will send you to the wrong address (their previous building). Google Maps is updated to their new location. -The new studio is located inside powerhouse gym on W Hillsborough Ave. -The parking lot in front of the gym is often full during evening hours. Don't panic! If you exit the gym and turn to your right and follow the crosswalk, the parking lot you would walk into is also available for gym/studio users. There is also the parking spots directly adjacent to the building (i.e., don't cross the street, just go down the street). As well, if you follow the street down and turn right, there is a grassy area behind the building with a towing sign. You can park there too. The gym staff member just told me repeatedly, "you cannot park overnight." So as long as you don't do that, you should be good. -If you are brand new to pole/aerials I might avoid a mixed level class first. To each their own, of course, but I took a level 1 & 2 pole class and the instructor was great as usual but almost everything hurt and felt impossible. The level 1 classes are a great place to build up your basic skills (and self-esteem) before transitioning into more complex material. read more

This is the studio I have been going to on and off since I moved from the DC metro area three years ago. The owner Sarah was very welcoming and accomodating from day one. She always goes the extra mile in the way she structures her classes, the types of classes and the times they are offered and has always been understanding about how she has treated me as a client. She is very down to earth and humble and also an excellent instructor who teaches you good form in pole, strength and flexibility techniques. I am a personal trainer and have been a pole dance and fitness enthusiast for several years and am very picky about who and where I take classes from. Buttercup pole is the place to go for top quality training in pole dance and flexibility. Finally, the thing that really makes this an excellent studio in my eyes is that is very family friendly and the environment is always so warm and welcoming from the instructors to the clients. I had a baby, who is now 18 months old and she has always been welcome to be with me in the studio while I take classes and open pole. Sarah and the other instructors and some of the clients always help me out with her and treat her like family. I find this to be the most touchinf thing and it has helped me immensly to get back in shape to have a studio that also welcomes my child. Don't sleep on this studio.
