I found Nina a few years ago on Yelp and I honestly couldn't be happier. She colors my hair perfectly every time. I always get a partial highlight, and she blends it so well that it grows out beautifully...I only need to get my hair done once every eight or nine months! It always looks so natural, beautifully blended and fresh. I've even moved out of the area, but I still make the drive to see her because she's completely worth it. I had a good experience the first time so I went back and asked specifically for more framing around my face. I was so crystal clear about what I wanted. She cut a bunch of length off of the back of my hair. As she was doing it, I asked her about it (if she was taking length off the back, because it sure did seem like that's what she was doing) and she literally said "no I'm not taking any length off the back. I'm just trimming it" - literally that's exactly what she was doing. I've never in my life broken down crying the next day after getting a haircut, but I did this morning. Worst haircut of my life. Also: I was right on time, and she left me standing outside in 108° heat and wasn't ready for my arrival. I stood at the door, tried the door, peaked inside...she wasn't even in the front. I almost just left. But then I texted her, and eventually she came to the door. Didn't even mention anything about it - no apology, no offer of water, nothing. After complaining to her directly, she did give me a full refund, which I do appreciate - but I really wish I had not gone in the first place. read more

I went to Nina to get my hair "birthday ready." A little background on my hair-type, I have thick-Asian hair that tends to pull orange when bleached (at least from my previous attempts at getting my hair done). I hadn't gotten my hair dyed for a long time after having several previous attempts pull super orange and streaky on my dark hair. I told Nina that I was nervous and that I wanted something subtle. Nina listened to my concerns and walked me through her process. And let me tell you, I'm SO happy that I trusted Nina with my hair because she did an amazing job! First of all, she is a master at blending colors and works super fast "foiling" the hair. Let me start with saying Nina is amazing, she really cares about her work, she put so much effort (and I know it wasn't easy) to making my hair look good. I originally wanted ash blonde highlights but unfortunately the test strip wasn't looking good, my hair was already damaged by previous over processing and I had dyed it black 6 mths prior. She talked me through her recommendations and I agreed. The end result was beautiful. I have had a lot of bad experiences with colorist, but Nina is the best I've met so far.
