This Michael's is pretty good vs. the others in the area. The main sections we shop in are:…read moreCricuit, Impressart, and beading/jewelry making. They seem to have a fairly decent amount of materials in stock most of the time and the curbside pickup is efficient at this store. I do find that the sales are difficult to shop because of all the exclusions and the fact most of the items I mentioned above are either excluded or always on sale. As much as I want to support brick and mortar I have a daughter with a business and COG is a huge metric. We use the internet a ton to get better deals elsewhere. But between this store, Hobby Lobby or what used to be AC Moore we have always chosen Michael's.

However, the treatment I experienced tonight makes me hesitant to shop there again. Tonight, a friend and I went in to purchase balloons. We knew it was close to closing time around 8:30 PM, so before purchasing, we specifically asked the cashier if it would still be okay to have the balloons filled that late. She kindly assured us it was fine, answered our questions, checked us out, and began inflating the balloons. The cashier, who was super sweet and incredibly helpful overall. A few minutes later, the manager came out visibly upset and immediately began complaining that the store was closing soon and that it was unreasonable for us to come in so close to closing. She first suggested we buy a $50 helium tank instead, which we declined. We apologized and explained that we had asked first and had been told it was okay. The manager continued complaining, saying she needed to clean the store and close the tills, and that we were going to force the store to stay open late. At that point, there were still about ten minutes before closing, we had twelve balloons total, and the cashier had already finished filling three of them. Then she yelled, "I am the manager, and I know better. She is new, and this should not have happened," and claimed the store would be "stuck open until 9:20 because of all the balloons." We had already apologized, and the manager said, "We should have known better before coming so late and asking for balloons to be filled". She proceeded to scold the cashier in front of us before storming away. We felt terrible for the cashier and apologized to her because if we had known this would cause an issue, we never would have asked for the balloons to be filled. We also apologized because no employee deserves to be spoken to that way by a manager. In the end, all of the balloons were completed by 8:59 PM, before the store even closed. The manager's behavior was completely unprofessional and out of line. The way she spoke to both customers and her employee demonstrated a serious lack of customer service skills, professionalism, and respect. If I could give this experience zero stars, I would.

Hobby lobby charged full price for the fourth item. I called, explained the situation - they said they would honor the original price. My husband took the receipts to the store, they would not give price adjustment w/o the physical item. I had to go again and this time they said they would not honor price because the initial charge for first 3 items was not correct. I find this unacceptable bc: 1. That was their error 2. They should have said that when I called. 3. if they had the item on the floor at the time of orig purchase, I would have paid same price for all 4 items. Not good business. I won't be back to Hobby Lobby anytime soon. Buyer beware

That being said, the customer service today at the Seabrook NH store was terrible. Five people in line at the fabric counter with ONLY ONE sales associate. The poor girl had to USE A CALCULATOR to figure price based on yardage cut. Then she had to HAND WRITE the calculations on a slip of paper. NOTHING was computerized or scanned. When I got to the front registers to check out, there were only two registers open with at least 12 CUSTOMERS in each line. The manager was standing in front of the registers walking back and forth and staring out the front windows into the parking lot. Why did he not open a register and assist??? The register associates were very pleasant and apologized for the long wait. These issues fall on management, not the associates. And as I'm sure you know, Hobby Lobby does NOT scan merchandise bar codes. They press register buttons for each item! It's 2025 - maybe Hobby Lobby should consider using self-checkout like the majority of other retail stores have been using for years?? My total time standing in line at Hobby Lobby today was over 40 minutes .... UGH!!!!
