This Michael's is pretty good vs. the others in the area. The main sections we shop in are: Cricuit, Impressart, and beading/jewelry making. They seem to have a fairly decent amount of materials in stock most of the time and the curbside pickup is efficient at this store. I do find that the sales are difficult to shop because of all the exclusions and the fact most of the items I mentioned above are either excluded or always on sale. As much as I want to support brick and mortar I have a daughter with a business and COG is a huge metric. We use the internet a ton to get better deals elsewhere. But between this store, Hobby Lobby or what used to be AC Moore we have always chosen Michael's. read more

I have shopped at the Epping Michaels for years and always considered it a good store. As someone who loves crocheting and crafting, I've spent a significant amount of money there over time. However, the treatment I experienced tonight makes me hesitant to shop there again. Tonight, a friend and I went in to purchase balloons. We knew it was close to closing time around 8:30 PM, so before purchasing, we specifically asked the cashier if it would still be okay to have the balloons filled that late. She kindly assured us it was fine, answered our questions, checked us out, and began inflating the balloons. The cashier, who was super sweet and incredibly helpful overall. A few minutes later, the manager came out visibly upset and immediately began complaining that the store was closing soon and that it was unreasonable for us to come in so close to closing. She first suggested we buy a $50 helium tank instead, which we declined. We apologized and explained that we had asked first and had been told it was okay. The manager continued complaining, saying she needed to clean the store and close the tills, and that we were going to force the store to stay open late. At that point, there were still about ten minutes before closing, we had twelve balloons total, and the cashier had already finished filling three of them. Then she yelled, "I am the manager, and I know better. She is new, and this should not have happened," and claimed the store would be "stuck open until 9:20 because of all the balloons." We had already apologized, and the manager said, "We should have known better before coming so late and asking for balloons to be filled". She proceeded to scold the cashier in front of us before storming away. We felt terrible for the cashier and apologized to her because if we had known this would cause an issue, we never would have asked for the balloons to be filled. We also apologized because no employee deserves to be spoken to that way by a manager. In the end, all of the balloons were completed by 8:59 PM, before the store even closed. The manager's behavior was completely unprofessional and out of line. The way she spoke to both customers and her employee demonstrated a serious lack of customer service skills, professionalism, and respect. What has happened to these stores? No customer service. All self-service checkouts now? I purchashed two wall frames. One was very large--with glass, so heavy. Had to place them on the floor. There was NO LINE. The employee in the area of checkout just pointed me to a register and then proceeded to WATCH me struggle to get them into bags. Never offered to help. AND the bags are thin plastic and horrible. The large frame barely fit and ripped down the side. They sell large frames but don't have bags large or thick enough? They used to not only ring up your purchase and make sure it was bagged/wrapped. Now nothing. I have spent a lot at Michael's. But no more. read more

This store had terrible customer service. One of the workers, Heidi, was rude, condescending, and made me incredibly uncomfortable. All of the other workers were incredibly helpful and kind however. The store was clean and organized. read more

As an artist and like sometimes doing craft projects, i always find what I need at Michael's. And since the day they have opened, I have found a professional and friendly staff who are always willing to help guide and answer my questions. I'm not a particularly crafty or artistic person so don't frequent Michaels unless I need something specific. When my nieces and nephew were young, I made all their special occasion cakes so got the fun character pans and all the decorating paraphernalia. Had some custom framing done at times over the years. After not finding what I needed at Marshalls, I popped next door to Michaels. They've thankfully done away with the heavy potpourri/eucalyptus smell wafting all over the place. That was another reason I used to avoid shopping at these stores. Much less of an insult to my allergies today. Picked up some ribbon spools (always have to have a variety of decorative ribbon on hand for gift wrapping purposes), then headed to frames. Turned out shadow boxes and some collections of frames and home decor product lines were 40% off. Pleasant surprise. Decent selection of shadow boxes, even if all are MDF. Don't think I found any actual wood ones. Most were deeper than I really wanted, unless I went for a big one. Got a couple options I will try and make work. Staff were practically invisible, but obviously some elves are working to keep the store tidy. Such fiddly little pieces, it's not an easy job. Cashier wasn't overly cheerful, but efficient. read more

My wife and I are regular shoppers at this Michael's location. We were extremely disappointed to find out that one of the products that we needed for a christmas home decor project was out of stock on this particular day. We were told by an associate that there were 6 on hand, but nobody could assist us to find that inventory as it appeared that the store was understaffed. I went back the next evening to find out that there were no longer 6 on hand and that, in fact, the quantity dropped to 0 on hand. I asked when the next shipment was due to come in at which point I was told the next day. I went back two days later to find out that the product never came in and that it can sometimes take 2-3 weeks for a product to arrive on the shelves. I was also informed by a member at corporate customer service headquarters that they never know what is coming in on any given delivery in terms of the timeframe that a particular item is due to arrive. I was told it can take up to three weeks. I would be out of business tomorrow if I told my customers this. I just got more excuses than any help finding this item I needed. read more

I have been to the epping michaels about four times. I usually go to Walmart but at those times Walmart was out of what I needed. Each time I have entered the store it seems either empty or very few people. I am a wheelchair user with a tracheostomy and needed some help. I went throughout the store and could find nobody to help me. Of course what I needed was difficult to reach but I tried anyways. when I tried my oxygen tank fell forward into a small display of product. All of a sudden out of nowhere this woman came running and upset that the display got some things on the floor. she said next time ask for help do this doesn't happen again. I got what I needed and then some ribbon and left. I think from now on I will wait until Walmart re-stock instead of paying extra money for lousy or no service. read more
