They're average to less expensive than other shops. They've got some jewelry, and there's materials to go along with beads. There's also a small discount table. Carved & polished rocks: Lots - more variety than other shops I've been to! Carvings were like animals, angels, skulls, etc. Prices were average. Some of the carvings used multiple minerals and were very cute. Rough minerals: They have a little bit of a lot of different minerals, even several meteorites! They had some minerals that I hadn't seen at other shops. Prices were generally average or a bit less expensive, but I found a few really good bargains. Fossils: Some very cool and very affordable pieces. Fossil prices were great! Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. I learn something new every time I go there. Parking was easy.

He recognized me and warmly welcomed me into his Ogunquit store. I had a lot of questions about the metaphysical properties of stones and their meanings, and he very knowledgeable and helpful, and what he didn't know he researched on his computer to find answers for me. I'll definitely be back for more stones. Plus I wouldn't mind running into him again. He's very helpful and funny....and handsome! :-)

Holy rock heaven. There's where I was transported to for about 2 hours this weekend and what a…read morewonderful experience it was. I had head about the place from a friend who is into crystals, gems, and minerals as the Mecca for such things and had to check it out for myself. And it truly is an experience of its own. First of parking is on the street and the shop begins right as you enter the driveway. I immediately caught sight of what I thought was stacked firewood but was in fact log sized chunks of selenite! To the left were huge slabs of amethyst and stones cut in half to be bookends. Among the other things in the 'rock garden' tables of various stones, split open and exposed to the elements. (Don't be surprised if something found its home under a rock you might fancy!) further back outside looks like a workstation with even more 'book ends' and slabs of polished stone. Heading up into the store there is a porch area with plastic and cardboard boxes of crystals and stones. Inside, are more fine and delicate beading and jeweling stones. Some are loose, some are drilled with holes already, and some are strung together on thread. You can walk around here for hours, take multiple loops and still not see everything. (I must have taken three of four loops before finally telling myself it was time to stop). Prices are reasonable - and a lot are done out by weight. I managed to get out spending under $50 since I purchase mostly natural rocks and smaller items (small bookends, selenite, labradorite, sage, African glass, Quartz, and a lucky geode). I will definitely be going back!

We are tourists, we only get to Salem once a year but we always go into Village Silversmith to shop…read morearound and my daughter always buys a silver bracelet or necklace of one kind or another. Last year she bought a beautiful bracelet with large skulls. This year she wasn't able to go with us but I had my orders to take pictures and buy her a bracelet. I got there at the end of the night on a Sunday and took some pictures of the bracelet case and had to call my daughter to talk about which ones she liked. They were actually closing but one of the staff, a very lovely woman with a ton of patience helped me out after I explained that I was trying to do this by phone. Even at the end of the day after a very busy weekend, they still had smiles on their faces and were extremely helpful. We ended up buying a very cool crystal necklace that was a bottle and a bracelet. The staff made what had the potential to be very stressful into a good experience even though I knew that they were probably tired and worn out from the crazy October weekend. Had to place them on the floor. There was NO LINE. The employee in the area of checkout just pointed me to a register and then proceeded to WATCH me struggle to get them into bags. Never offered to help. AND the bags are thin plastic and horrible. The large frame barely fit and ripped down the side. They sell large frames but don't have bags large or thick enough? They used to not only ring up your purchase and make sure it was bagged/wrapped. Now nothing. I have spent a lot at Michael's. But no more.

However, the treatment I experienced tonight makes me hesitant to shop there again. Tonight, a friend and I went in to purchase balloons. We knew it was close to closing time around 8:30 PM, so before purchasing, we specifically asked the cashier if it would still be okay to have the balloons filled that late. She kindly assured us it was fine, answered our questions, checked us out, and began inflating the balloons. The cashier, who was super sweet and incredibly helpful overall. A few minutes later, the manager came out visibly upset and immediately began complaining that the store was closing soon and that it was unreasonable for us to come in so close to closing. She first suggested we buy a $50 helium tank instead, which we declined. We apologized and explained that we had asked first and had been told it was okay. The manager continued complaining, saying she needed to clean the store and close the tills, and that we were going to force the store to stay open late. At that point, there were still about ten minutes before closing, we had twelve balloons total, and the cashier had already finished filling three of them. Then she yelled, "I am the manager, and I know better. She is new, and this should not have happened," and claimed the store would be "stuck open until 9:20 because of all the balloons." We had already apologized, and the manager said, "We should have known better before coming so late and asking for balloons to be filled". She proceeded to scold the cashier in front of us before storming away. We felt terrible for the cashier and apologized to her because if we had known this would cause an issue, we never would have asked for the balloons to be filled. We also apologized because no employee deserves to be spoken to that way by a manager. In the end, all of the balloons were completed by 8:59 PM, before the store even closed. The manager's behavior was completely unprofessional and out of line. The way she spoke to both customers and her employee demonstrated a serious lack of customer service skills, professionalism, and respect. If I could give this experience zero stars, I would.
