On the road breakfast is the number one meal for me. Wherever I go finding a great local breakfast joint is of paramount importance. I can do breakfast at any hour of the day or night. Rochelle is small town yet a very traveled town out in the parts of central Ill. In a town full of traveling truckers and hard working farmers there is always a local gathering spot to start your day. It's these kind of places that you get the nitty gritty, the local news, and real flavor or a town. Like most places I stumbled upon Butterfly restaurant while on the scout for good filming locations. The job gives me the opportunity to look into places that if you're not a local you might pass by. When walked though the door a bell rang the kind that announces a new customer has entered. A few folks turned and looked and threw up a kindly wave even though They didn't know me from Adam you couldn't tell by the welcome. At the counter a man chatted up with the counter girl about his farm and the seasons crop as she offered to pick up any shifts he might have available for extra money. This small town America. The service was prompt and friendly as a young girl sat me at a booth and left me with a menu. The offerings were various and all seemed good choices but I came for breakfast and in the menu it said 'Breakfast served all day". Words that are music to my ears. The coffee was strong, like farmer strong and tasted like good coffee should. I ordered the Country Breakfast made up of two eggs over easy, (I always add an egg for three), home fries, which is nice chunks of potatoes with green pepper and onion, as opposed to hash brown strings, and covered in sausage gravy homemade sausage patties and rye toast. Sounds simple right? Well, you'd be surprised at how many places can screw up a good breakfast. Thankfully, Butterfly is not one of those places. It was a hearty plate, with excellent cooked eggs and the home fries covered in sausage gravy were excellent. I judge a country breakfast by its sausage gravy and theirs is right on point. The sausage patties are homemade on their line and likely made from fresh pork. It's in the taste. The patties were cooked well and crispy on the outside while tender on the inside. Even the rye toast had a good amount of caraway seeds with that warm, sweet, peppery taste they offer. I am not sure but I would not be surprised if the rye toast is locally made. This was no small breakfast and it was excellent and just what I was on the hunt for. I returned for breakfast several times during my month long stay. I will be back to try their dinners which I am certain and just as awesome. The service is super friendly and the restrooms are really clean and well taken care of. Even the napkins are quality which is a huge indicator for me of the care with which they order supplies. It's no wonder the Butterfly Restaurant is a local meeting place.

This place has some of the tastiest meals! We walked in and due to some server errors we waited quite a while to get served. I went to the host and asked him to please inform our server that we were waiting. She showed up and apologized and from that point everything improved. The drinks were promptly served and our meals came out quickly. The food was well prepared and there was a lot of it! Whoever was cooking in the back had their A-game going. I definitely will return. And you should definitely give them a chance.

Other than having to deal with a freight train that stopped on the tracks right as we were trying to get to the restaurant from the theater, and having to go way out to the west end of town to get around it, everything about our experience was superb! I'm pretty sure we were seated by the owner, who was amazing to talk to. You could tell she loved what she did and what they provide to their customers. She put us in the charge of the bartender, who brought our drinks, took our orders, and checked on us regularly throughout the meal, even though she was doing double duty. We had a large lunch, so we weren't going to eat much for dinner. As soon as I read the menu I realized I was going to have a hard time deciding, but I love cinnamon ice cream, so I knew I needed to leave enough room for dessert. I ended up ordering the grilled cheese, which came with bacon (hold the tomato), and the homemade chips as my side. Everything was delicious. I brought half of my meal home, and it was just as delicious when reheated with my air fryer a few days later. My husband had the Acres Pretzel, which was huge and yummy. (I had a bite to try it!) The cheese sauce with it was thinner than expected, but very good. We started out with a Manhattan for me and some Lena Brewing caramel pecan coffee stout for him. Mine was perfectly crafted, and I took a sip of his, which was also yummy. In addition to my cinnamon ice cream, we each had a dessert drink. He had the Chocolate Caramel Kiss, and I had the Banana Bread. Again, very yummy. The cost of all of this came to under $75, which we thought was marvelous. Coming out from the city, the prices here are definitely more reasonable and much appreciated! We have this restaurant on our radar now, so anytime we are out this way again, we will head there. We are already making plans to come out and see a show next summer, if not before that. To the owner and all the other staff, thanks for such a lovely experience! You have a wonderful establishment!

Lord, where to start…read more... The reviews were mixed at best, but we haven't been here in a while so we figured we'd give it another chance. Walking in and seeing new trim around the windows - okay, good sign. Also seeing a paint can on a table....? Okay, not a good sign. We decided to try this place again because we saw a sizzling steak on their roadside reader board as we drove back into town from the south. The last few times we went here, it was sandwiches only, so maybe the new owners were moving to the next level? Inside, you see a sign Salt 7. The bill reads C.C.S. Golf LLC. The menu - Salt 251. Confused yet? We ordered their Lobster Dip Appetizer. The photo only shows half of it. My wife said "I couldn't find any Lobster in it." Neither could I. It was tasty, but if you say Lobster Dip, shouldn't you find some Lobster in it? From there, we waited. And waited. And waited. And finally, the waitress / bartender who was working the restaurant by herself (while the two owners were doing something else) stopped by and took our drink and entrée orders. For drinks, I ordered a Manhattan, and my wife ordered a Gin Martini. The combination waitress / bartender admitted she had to look that one up. Both drinks were okay, I've had better Manhattans. For entrees, my wife ordered their Grilled Shrimp Scampi and I had their 8 ounce Garlic Sirloin. This took a fair amount of time, around 20 minutes to plate. Both dishes came with a nice, fresh salad, with dressing in a small cup on the side. Given the size of the salad, they needed to provide more dressing. I was scraping the rest of it out of the small plastic serving cup. On to the entrees: Shrimp Scampi That's a pretty regular dish - grilled shrimp sautéed in butter, garlic and white wine and served in that sauce. The grilled shrimp was there with some seasoning, but the rest which makes it Scampi wasn't there. Plus, the fresh vegetables were in a teriyaki sauce, which was sweet and of course didn't blend well with the Shrimp and it's seasoning. It came with a baked potato that my wife said "It must have had a bad spot - a chunk was missing. Whaaaaatttt? Never had that in all the baked potatoes we have had. Not a good first. I was there for the steak, so I ordered their 8 ounce garlic sirloin, medium rare. That should be a warm, red center. I could see the garlic on the sirloin - but the steak was well-done. Gray, hot, chewy (chewy chewy), and I had to use steak sauce to make it palatable. Now two people who we think were the owners come by (they didn't introduce themselves) and ask is everything okay, of course we do what everyone does, we fib - yes, everything's fine. They apparently don't watch Bar Rescue - their combination bartender / waitress could have used some help serving or covering the bar, but nope, she didn't get any help. She didn't complain, she just did her best. I did order their Tuxedo Bomb Dessert, which was actually pretty good. A slice of chocolate cake, covered with chocolate mousse, covered with vanilla mousse, with a chocolate coating drizzled in vanilla icing with some whipped cream. It was the best part of the dinner. Of course, I failed to get a picture of that. Argh.

Unfortunately they were out of the Pretzel Bites, but they offered to put a side of the beer cheese with the White Fish Bites. We also ordered the Truffle Fries (which were some of the BEST we've ever had!!) We both ordered burgers, which were pretty good. I ordered the Pit Master, which was actually a little too spicy for me. However, we traded (my fiancé got the Roadhouse) and it was delish. They've been super accommodating and we can't wait to have our rehearsal dinner here in a few weeks!

I was skeptical because it's in the Rochelle Airport. I'm glad we decided to try it out. We went on a Wednesday night, and it wasn't very busy. There was a large group there, but plenty of tables available. The tables/booths do need so updating as they are starting to show the signs of age. Open ceiling, standard bar décor, patio area, view of the runway... This is a standard bar and grill. Nothing fancy. As for the food. I ordered the mozzarella sticks and the Black N Blue Brisket Burger. The cheese sticks were of decent size, had an okay flavor. I feel they were a little over cooked, but they were still good. The burger was above average. Definitely better than anything you get at a fast food restaurant and the fries were also above average. Over all the food isn't anything wowing, but it's good and I did enjoy my meal. Now here's the selling points: !) for all of my Gluten Free peeps out there. They can replace the bread on any sandwich with a gluten free wrap for a $3 upcharge. 2) Everyone one of their signature drinks can be made alcohol free, thus turning them into Mocktails. I ordered a blackberry hibiscus mule mocktail and my friend got the same with alcohol. We both thought they were delicious. Our service was good. The waitress was friendly and attentive. We had no issues. I think this might be a regular stop for the both of us.

The crepes were served nice and hot as requested, and the sausage was a massive single piece which was just fine. It was more like a sausage "burger" but it tasted great and was freshly cooked. They came out hot and fresh from the fryer, and were served with a small plastic container of what tasted like ranch dressing. It wasn't long before the burgers came out with the fries. Both were hot and fresh from the grille / fryer. The burgers were okay.
