My husband and I were passing by and stopped to see what desserts they have. After quite some time of going back and forth on what to get, I decided on the box of mini pies with 12 in the box--3 of each flavor--coconut, peanut butter, key lime, and chocolate Oreo. They were all delicious. I read some reviews that said they weren't fresh in a day or two. The owner said it's because they don't use any preservatives, so they're best eaten the same day or the next day. I agree that they aren't as fresh on the 3rd or 4th day after, but they're still good. They're so good that I was eating 3 or 4 a day. My husband got the apple and I40, he loved. I would've taken pictures, but the pie went too fast. They have the best mini-desserts for those office potlucks, neighborhood parties, or even just a nice brunch. They also do a really cute pie tower of share-able size pies. I haven't tried their full-size yet. The only thing keeping this from a 5-star is that you have to be fast: fast to order so they don't run out of your favorite, and also fast to eat or freeze it. My brother bought this pie for my elderly mother that lives with us here in Texas for Mothers day. It was the Southern Custard 9", and he paid almost $40 for it. Immediately on opening the box, I could tell it was raw. Crust, cookie, custard - all raw. The custard texture, especially under the cookie was like non-cook cheesecake. Nasty! I wanted to take the pie back, but my mom didn't want me to. I refuse to throw away a $40 pie, so I heated up the oven ro 375 and cooked it for 20 more minutes. Probably a bit too long, but nothing burned. which tells you it was raw. Mom liked it after it was cooked. She said now it's edible. I'm was going to give this review 1 star, because a $40 pie for Mothers Day should be edible. It was not good! However, after cooking it, the pie does taste good. I wish it was perfect when we got it. The staff here are so sweet and the pies here are dangerously addicting. All the pies are amazing in their own right but the favorites was the key lime pie and Peanut Butter Cream. They were both rich and you experience pure joy eating them. You saved me this year! We don't always stay in town for Thanksgiving but the last few years we have and I usually remember to preorder but this year I forgot :-(. I did remember in years past they had some pies available for walk in. My wife follows their Facebook page and told me they posted they still had the 2 flavors we wanted available for walk in. I ran over fully expecting to wait in a long line for walk in but I must have just hit it at the right time. No line and only 1 other person in the shop doing a walk in purchase. We did a preorder from this store the first year they opened and it was crazy but understandable. The last few years they are a well oiled machine for preorders on Thanksgiving. My wife is a type 2 diabetic so we don't pickup pies very often but when she does want a pie there are only 2 places we pickup from, here and one other local pie shop in Dallas/Bishop Arts. The quality of the pies here at Buttermilk Sky Pie is great and compared to the other pie shop they are around $20 less per pie plus for me it's only a 5 min drive :-). Their service here has always been great. No matter when we go in we are always greeted with a smile. Household favorites are the I-40, Key Lime and seasonal Lemon Ice Box (I think that's what it's called). During the year they will at times post sales for pies they have towards the end of the day and if it's time for a pie and my wife likes the available choices that are on sale we run by the store to pickup a treat ! read more

While I have not been in person, this place is just close enough to work that we've sent people over for a sweet treat 3 or 4 times in the last year and I've been very impressed with the items I've tried. I have to give major props to their website, it's detailed and easy to use. I'm one of those people who has a hard time deciding on the fly what I want, especially if someone is calling me to tell me what they have (ahhhh, menu anxiety), so I've been on there several times and find their pics and descriptions really helpful to figure out what I want that day. You also have the opportunity to place an online order so it's ready for you to pick up and I think I've seen them on at least one delivery platform like Door Dash. They offer 9 inch pies, 4 inch pies, 2 inch pies that come in a dozen, thumbprint cookies, Cloud 9 (a pie a la mode that we all agree looks good) and will wrap stacks of pies. I love sweets, but I also love variety, and since my husband doesn't have much of a sweet tooth and eating an entire pie is a challenge, I find the smaller options to be the best selling point about this place! While I believe they do seasonal flavors, they have 9 flavors that are available every day. I've loved other bakeries where I had favorite items, but never knew if they would have that item that day. So this is another good selling point and where the website is useful. The flavors they have every day are buttermilk, apple, key lime, chocolate cream, peanut butter cream, coconut cream, chewy chocolate chip, pecan and the I-40, which is a pecan pie with chocolate chips and coconut shavings. Since the website lists if the crust is shortbread, graham cracker or Oreo and whether or not it's topped with coconut shavings or whipped cream, it should be easy to figure out the best pie for you, especially if you are picky about how a particular pie is prepared. Their website also lists that there are gluten free options available, but I'm not sure which ones or how often. The full size pies are $26 but so far we've just tried a variety of the 4 inch pies which are $5 each. I think this is the perfect deal for the size and is an amount of money I wouldn't mind spending on trying a new flavor without being too concerned if I would like it or not. I've considered getting the dozen of the 2 inch pies on several occasions because 3 each of the key lime, chocolate, peanut butter and coconut seems like a real crowd pleaser and I think it's only $20. As I said, each time people know what they want, but I keep this option in mind because it seems like a smart choice. They have a pie perks club where they will send you info on special offers and seasonal items, you get a free 4 inch pie for your birthday. I think I've also seen pie for a year cards. Okay, on to the pie. Full disclosure, I am way more of a cake girl than a pie girl and I've enjoyed the pies I've tasted from here! However, I say that because I work with 2 pie people and have gathered that pie people are very particular about their favorites and analyze how pies are put together and are always comparing to their favorite pies ever made. Being a pie person sounds exhausting, but I don't want any pie people reading this review and making accusations, lol! I also had one person who isn't really into sweets say she split her 4 in pie with her husband and it was the perfect size for 2. Uh... no, I can eat half my pie in one sitting with very little effort, ain't no way I'm sharing the rest! So if you're trying the small size and want to maintain your relationships, plan on one per person. I've heard very good things about their pecan and apple, but one person who tried the apple did say the apples are not as soft as her favorite apple pie. I don't know, the apple pie looked pretty good to me, but I don't generally prefer desserts with fruit so I haven't personally tried it. I've tried their southern custard/buttermilk pie on several occasions. To be fair, I haven't tried many in my life to compare it to, so here I will refer to a pie person's opinion of it being "very, very good." My own opinion is that it was delightful! Both times it was consistent, very smooth and creamy and not overly sweet with a pretty good crust. I really liked it and if I get a 4 pack, I will always make sure at least one of these is included. Most recently I tried the peanut butter cream pie and I loved it!!! Yes, that's 3 exclamation points, I said what I said. The whipped cream was complimentary, the peanut butter was smooth and props to the Oreo crust, which worked way better than I would've thought. I would have expected a graham cracker crust to be a better choice, but I have no complaints because the flavors and textures worked out perfectly! I ate every bite and had to restrain myself from licking that mini pie tin. It's going to be hard to try new flavors after that one, I guess I'm just stuck getting 2 pies for now on, or maybe 3... I decided to get a pie to celebrate pie day. When I arrived at the store, I was not alone in celebrating pie day today. One of the store employees was very helpful answering my questions. I saw "Chewy Chocolate Chip" on the menu and immediately knew what I wanted. The 4" pie was nearly packed in a takeout container. I removed the lid and the pie came out of the container without a fuss. One bite and I thought I was eating a chocolate chip cookie in a pie form. My only regrets is not purchasing more than one pie. Those individual pies sold at grocery stores. Unless it is past 7pm or a Sunday, I definitely will not buying them anymore. read more

I took home a $35. 9" Key Lime Pie, that was under/filled, in a cheap aluminum pie tin, in an expensive cardboard box. It contained no key lime, just plain lime juice. It's a standard recipe, that anyone can make at home in less than 30 minutes, for about $5-$6.00 I gave this shop 4 stars because the pie wasn't that good. read more

My wife has been wanting some pie, and we checked to see who might be open. We encountered this one showing just a couple of miles from our home. We found that they have normal-sized (9-inch) pies, along with individual serving (4-inch) pies. They might also have smaller ones, but were out of those. We selected 4 of the 4-inch pies and one full-sized pie to take home. So far, we've had two of the smaller ones, splitting the southern custard pie and the coconut cream pie. I would give the southern custard a 4 out of 5, but the coconut cream pie was out of this world good. We are looking forward to testing the other 3 pies. read more

We have driven past this shop many times and always say next time we drive by....yesterday was the day we did the U turn and very happy we did. The service was great and the girl working the counter was super sweet and helpful. We got a four pack of individual pies and each of them was a perfect piece of heaven. My favorite was the blueberry pie, which had just the right amount of sweet, flaky crust and a cute little star crust cut out on top. The Key Lime was delicious; sweet and not too tart...just the way I like it. My husband devoured the apple pie and my daughter insisted the chocolate cream was the best. We don't do sweets very often, but we will certainly be back soon! Oh, don't forget the apple pie brittle (I think it was called). It is a $4 bag of the pieces that fall off the pie while cooking. It's important right now to support our local business. And BSPS is a perfect example - we really need to keep this one going. I've driven by this place repeatedly but never stopped because it's off on its own in that lonely strip of retail by the hospital. I told myself "Maybe next time I'm over here, I'll stop in". Well today, I stopped on a whim. So glad I did. First off, it's super adorable inside - a quaint little rustic-y, Instagram-y, homey-type set up with a lineup of pie displays and pies cooling on a rack behind the counter. Plus other treats, knick knacks and well-designed packaging displayed throughout. I had no idea what to get so the very nice woman behind the counter recommended the I-40 and Key Lime pies. They had little individual pies but I opted for 2 full size pies so I could "share with family and friends" ... but let's be honest, I wanted to have ample left over to enjoy while watching Friends on my iPad at 11:30 at night. But I digress ... Holy smokes this pie is good. I mean really good. The key lime is not too sweet or lime-y. Just light, refreshing and seriously delicious. One of the best I've ever had. And the I-40 is just bonkers. It's almost like if a chocolate chip cookie, a pecan pie and a German chocolate cake had a baby! Totally life-changing :) and well worth the calories! I had a previous draft of this review that went into more description, but I'll spare you. I'll just say that you can tell there's a passion and a knowledge of baking and here that separates this place from your average pop-up bakery. Overall, fantastic experience.
