Within 30 minutes, it was well out into the street. That was a promising sign. The sandwich menu covered the entire wall over the counter. Lots of non-New-York sandwiches like Cubans, gyros, etc, but over in the left corner were the classic Ruebens and pastramis. I went for the latter. A REAL NY deli usually has a few soups like split pea and chicken noodle and matzoh. No soups. Bummer. They had a half dozen sides - 3 kinds of potato salads and a few slaws. I went with the German potato salad. The drink option was spartan - they tossed a styrofoam cup at me and pointed to the soda fountain. The pastrami sandwich was OK for Texas. A SUPER pastrami sandwich on hard rye can get me moaning like Meg Ryan in "When Harry Met Sally" -- only I don't have to fake it. The German potato salad was watery and bland - I should have gone with the mustard potato salad. Turnaround was on the slow side. Napkins = paper towel roll on table. Flimsy plasticware. The overall vibe was affordable utilitarian. I'll give the sandwich a 4, everything else a 3. Next time I'll drive the extra half hour to Cindi's.

Kudos to them for keeping calm and still providing the best service they can. Ambiance - pretty disappointing. Everyone wants their food during their lunch break - not by dinner time. TIP: Place an order waaaaaaaaaay ahead of time instead of ordering in person. That may help with the long wait time. They seem to prioritize the online vs. in-person order.

Then when I tried to use the points (I have never used before) he gave me so much attitude and disrespect that I stopped looked up at him with a "do we have a problem" look. Where it fell short was everything around those ingredients. The bread just wasn't good, which is hard to overlook in a sandwich. And the condiments appeared to be generic brands from companies I'd never heard of, which felt like a step down from the quality of everything else. When the core ingredients are this good, it's frustrating to see the supporting pieces let them down. If Flurry's upgraded the bread and condiments, this could easily be a four- or five-star spot.
