A huge farm with almost every fruit you can imagine. Wagons are supplied which is very helpful. I went for the strawberry picking. I arrived at noon on a Sunday. There were still ripe strawberries but they required a bit of hunting for the ripest. A worker informed me that they have regulars, "jammies," that show up at 7 and pick galore. Whether jammies refers to jam makers, whether they are still wearing jammies, or both, I don't know. But his advice, the earlier the better. There are 4 strawberry fields, worth it to check each one for different selections. I was there 6/20 and there were still loads of strawberries to ripen. I think they expect to have strawberries until mid July, but they update daily on their recorded phone line. read more

Butternut Farm is the perfect PYO experience. Beautiful area, season-long choices of strawberries, blueberries. Peaches, apples, and many more. It's a great family countryside experience, and they have fresh apple cider donuts, plus you can buy some of their hard cider (and nonalcoholic cider too) there. If you're not up for picking your own, no worries, they sell picked fruit, honey, jams and jellies. The kids will love the goats. We started going there when our kids were little in the 1990's, and it keeps gettin better every year. read more

Amazing precautions taken to prevent overcrowding. Online reservation system was easy to use and efficient and provided additional Covid related information. Staff was so friendly and helpful, they for sure went above and beyond. The grounds were beautifully maintained and clearly marked and organized. Yesterday was the best picking day blueberries peaches and four varieties of apples everyone was smiling

Butternut Farm has THE Best Cider Donuts that I have ever had in my life and I have had a few. We headed over to pick blueberries but did not know we needed a reservation. They looked it up for us and they had some openings so they let us in. We stuck with the blueberries and the bushes were loaded. My wife and I picked close to 5 pounds of berries and there are good. Our friends got blueberries as well as peaches and plums, all were great. This is a nice place, very clean with grass between the rows of bushed. On our way out I bought a couple donuts and I do believe I will need to take the drive for more donuts. read more

We went here this morning to pick some apples and took a friend who has lived in New England her whole life but had never been apple picking. It was a pretty successful trip, got a huge bag of apples for a little over $8. It seemed like all of the good apples were at the tops of the trees and with there only being two ladders (that I saw), it was hard to get to them. There were a ton of people there(both parking lots were completely full) , but so many of the trees are ready for picking, we hardly saw anyone until we got back to the main entrance to pay. As we were leaving, we saw a huge line out behind the shack where you pay for your pickings, so we asked "What's that for?" We were told that apple cider donuts had just come out of the fryer, so of course we had to get some! The line moved quickly and they had gone through 3 batches before we got up to the window. So worth the wait! Also they were only $1.25 each. Apples are $1.25/lb. Pumpkins are .55/lb. read more

Love this farm!! We discovered it this year and have been back multiple times to pick various fruits! To start with they have a fantastic website that's very informative. The number to call saves so much time so you know exactly what they will be having that day. The staff is friendly and the way it's laid out is very simple to follow. There are plenty of signs and I like how you just walk straight up to the stand to grab your bag/cartons etc to put your fruit in. I love the large variety they offer of the various kinds of fruits as well. The prices are on par with other places but something I appreciate is that they let you pick whatever amount you want and pay just for that, vs making you pay for a certain size bag. The cider donuts are very very good as well. Can't leave without one!! Butternut Farm is already becoming a tradition for us and we look forward to coming here for years to come. read more

We come here every single year for apple picking and the AMAZING apple butter and apple cider donuts. Never a bad experience. Some of the best prices in the part of New Hampshire. Also very conveniently located. They have red wagons to haul your fruits and children and a great selection of jams and butters. A HUGE pumpkin patch, and some other amazing fruits and stuff. A cute farm with lots of apple trees. I had to pick apples during my trip to New England, and I decided to come to Butternut because it had great reviews online. We ended up getting here an hour or so before closing time on a weekday, so there weren't many people around, which was great. There are plenty of ladders scattered throughout the apple trees, which is a great help when it comes to reaching the apples near the tops of the trees. I left with a bag of honeycrisp apples and they were so good! My husband and I agreed they were the best apples either of us has ever had. read more

Just Wonderful, the BEST strawberry picking I've been to in NH. The field is large enough to withstand heavy picking. Great Staff, great time, great tasting produce, great apple variety and their website is good enough to get the basics out there. Love this small farm and the service at the small store. I went in a rainy day in October, looking to find something that would be fun to take the kids. It was very quaint and had great products, no large store but the lady behind the register was very kind and friendly. We picked out pumpkins but there are no events or entertainment, as it's a small building with lots of field space. Very picturesque down a dirt road. read more

This place is fantastic. Our first time here. Decided to check this place out on our way home to MA. Best orchard I've been too. Tons of variety. We ended up with a big bag plus a kiddie bag full of cortlands, golden delicious, macs, Fuji and a few I'd never heard of. Shizuoka (sp?) and snow sweet. All of them were really good. I did a cherry picking and blueberry picking today. The farm gives us the tips of where to find the cherries and introduction for the varieties. Their cherries are very sweet and I think it totally worthy to get up at 7:10am and spent 1.5 hrs to drive there. Thumbs up!!! read more

I went apple picking and the grounds were much larger than I expected. Plenty of space and many options for PYO. Aisles of fruit are well marked and ladders easily accessible to use. Ok, I'm sort of a pro at farm stands/ apple picking as I started in the summer of 69 in Woodstock NY in my mother's belly. I've been apple picking all over NJ, NY and all over New England, every area has their bests, like Mac's apples in Londonderry NH for instance... well Butternut is one of the best in the south east corner of NH. We've been coming here for 20 years and seen this family run farm slowly increase and add more things to make it a destination. It's very well payed out, very well marked and is easy to navigate. They obviously have apples, every kind you can imagine, peaches, plums, berries, pumpkins. They have a cider house with fresh pressed cider and also hard cider, they sell treats like Whoopie pies, fruit pies and the best apple cider donuts I've ever had. This is a great farm to spend a cpl of hours and get all of those so important instagram and Fb pics, along with all your apples, pumpkins, and cider! I love a trip to Butternut! In the past week I've been out to the farm 3 times to pick amazing berries. Last week it was strawberries and cherries. Today it was raspberries and tart cherries. Prices are good and the picking is GREAT! Best bet is to call them the day you are planning to go, they update their answering machine every day with what fruit is ready for picking and what hours they will be open that day. Most days during berries season they open at 7 and might be open til 3 or so, or might close at noon. They need to close down so the berries can ripen for the next days pick. Next week - blueberries! and later in the summer - peaches! They have all these amazing berries but the Fall - that is when you really need to get up to Butternut. Their apples....the best I've had. Aside from the fresh fruit, they have sheep, chickens (and a peacock right now!) for viewing. And wagons for the kids to ride in out to the fields. There are "port-a-potty's". Cute farm store with honey, jams, and fresh and frozen pies. Parking is pretty good considering how busy they can get. They ask that you do not bring your dog when you come to the farm. Great website and be sure to call them if you are planning to make a trip! It's soooooo worth it! read more

Beautiful farm however the farm dog attacked my on leash dog with no provocation. Dogs are allowed on leash on the parking area which is where we were. My dog did not growl or in any other way act aggressive. He said the dog has had issues with female dogs but he is male. DO NOT BRING YOUR DOG THERE. We are not from the area and had family who had been there every year and had always seen dogs there. The sign out front DID NOT SAY NO DOGS. Sadly I spent my apple picking time in the car with my dog, who thankfully was ok. read more

Wonderful place for PYO fruit. I've only been for apples, but they grow a wide variety of fruit. They direct you to the best places to pick apples. This may be a bit of a stroll from the parking lot, but the walking is beautiful (mowed field). Check out the small indoor store - I've gotten good cider, good salsa, and a great apple pie that was so recently out of the oven as to be too hot to eat at first. The drive to the farm is awesome, awesome - a nice country ride on a good paved road from the SE (Rochester) side and a more rustic trip on a good dirt road from the NW (Farmington / Barnstead) side. You can come in from Route 11, or from the mess of back roads from the Wilson Lake area, if you dare.......You can make a great day out of Butternut Farm, a hike up Blue Job, and some riding around. read more

We have been going to Butternut for years now, & I finally got around to writing a review! Fyi do not bring your dogs - they are not allowed here :) Anytime we've come here, we always leave with TONS of fresh fruit and veggies, and if we're lucky, even some cider donuts! Everything is always plump, large (but not massive pumped with hormones huge), flavorful, and colorful. Apples are always abundant during the season and they have unique varieties, blueberries are awesome (did not know there are so many different varieties. I just figured a blueberry is a blueberry lol), strawberries are divine, peaches/plums/nectarines/tomatoes....everything is just wonderful. Having nice interactions with the helpful staff is also a plus. The farm itself is neat and clean (hence, no dogs allowed), and everything is very well maintained. Be sure to visit the peacocks, goats, and chickens while you are there! read more
