Food was okay at best. Ambiance was small, hometown restaurant vibe. I got the special of country fried steak with mashed potatoes & gravy. The cubed steak didn't have bad flavor and the gravy was not bad for premade. The mashed potatoes were boxed potatoes & brown gravy. Husband had BBQ plate & it was not good. He would eat cardboard so if he says it's not good, it's not good. Kids all got chicken tenders & fries. They were basic GFS frozen tenders and crinkle cut fries. I would guess that most everything on the menu comes frozen & is reheated/fried. 2 stars because the staff was so nice and accommodating for a large family. read more

This was our second choice for dinner, but it proved to be the right choice. The food was great. The service could have been better, but the server was on her own for the first time. She was doing well, but she really needed help. The owner or manger did come in to help. The restaurant is small and our group of 6 had to split between 2 tables. We were completely fine with that. Such a great spot to grab a quick bite to eat, we enjoyed the hotdog platter with French fries and an added side of homemade onion rings that were delicious. After driving by and giggling at "Butts n Such" we stopped for dinner last night. It was delicious! I ordered a friend shrimp sandwich with coleslaw and onion rings. My son got the bbq plate with Mac and cheese, potato salad and hush puppies. We both had sweet tea that was perfect! Not too sweet and not too strong. Everything was made fresh, on-site and so good! The servers were a riot, we really enjoyed talking to them. We chatted with some other customers inside. It was a super fun environment. We for sure will be back. read more

Restaurant could use a little better cleaning practice (table was dirty with crumbs and water rings from previous drinks) and the food was less than mediocre. BBQ was the best thing and it was just okay, The sides were some of the worst I have had. I'm not sure how you can mess up fried okra but it is pretty much a standard and pretty easy to make. The service was decent with no real complaints but it was overshadowed but the low quality of the food. I would not recommend this restaurant. (and there are much better on the island) read more

The food here is quite good. I'd highly recommend the hush puppies, and then BBQ pork was also quite good. Unfortunately, the service was atrocious. My husband and I planned to eat an an outside table. We ordered at the counter and told the girl taking our order that we'd be sitting just outside the window. When she called our name to let us know the food was ready, the food was packed in a to-go bag with no plates. Not a big deal. We looked inside the bag and there was no BBQ sauce of any sort, and the pork did not have sauce on it. My husband went inside and was going to take one of the little condiment holders outside, but he was told he was not able to. He then asked if we could have some BBQ sauce and plates. The woman told him they did not have plates (yes, really, despite all of the people inside eating on plates), and then handed him several containers of BBQ sauce. This was all done with a super rude attitude by the teenage girl working behind the counter. We took the bag of food and left, and we certainly won't be returning. read more

Overall a nice local bbq spot. It is very small inside, so it's hard to accommodate large groups, but I don't hold that against them. The food was out to us very quick and everything was correct and hot. The bbq was good and so were the hushpuppies and sweet potato fries. I got the bbq and 1/4 dark chicken and was disappointed to see my portion of bbq was probably 1/4 what the rest of my group received that ordered the chopped bbq. I assumed it was a combo platter since it was more expensive, not a 50/50 deal. The fried chicken was a real letdown, which is why I took off 1 star. It lacked any flavor or spices to it. It was cooked well and crispy though, just bland. Everything else was pretty good and priced decent. Also, they don't charge you a credit card fee, and they have their own parking lot. As stated on their Facebook page, "Home-cooked food at a reasonable price" was far from what my experience was at this establishment. The one thing that I could speak nicely about is the customer service. They were fast with getting my drink, taking my order and bringing out the food, although it wasn't busy. The young lady was very kind and did her job wonderfully. As for whoever makes the food... I just want to know what their definition of home-cooked is... The Mac-n-cheese tasted just like Stouffers, which I'm convinced is exactly what they gave me. The coleslaw had no flavor and the mashed potatoes with gravy were ok but nothing to call home about. I got the ribs as my main and they were slightly dry and flavorless. For a $16 plate, I expected more since around here you can get quality food for less at a real BBQ place. DO NOT get the mozzerela sticks as an appetizer! For $6.99 you get five small sticks that probably came frozen from Foodlion and reheated in the microwave. The sauce that came with it was also not homemade, but in an aluminum sealed cup. The color was more on the brown side and, when looking for an expiration date, I couldn't find it. Did not taste right. It was extremely quiet inside and there was nothing to complement about the ambiance. I don't want to dine at a loud place, but you could drop a thumbtack and hear it crystal clear. I had higher expectations and regret not reading the reviews before going in. Woman working the window was friendly and food came up pretty quickly. The food tho was the issue. I ordered a cheeseburger. She asked how I'd like it cooked and gave me the options of medium, medium well or well. I said medium. It always makes me laugh when they ask a temp but the burger comes out well done anyway, as it did here. It was over cooked to the point of being a bit dry. The toppings I got were ketchup, mustard, onion and coleslaw. The ketchup and mustard were not very prominent and may have not even been on there. Idk. I'm not looking for them to be oozing out of the bun but I'd like to taste them. The other toppings were very light too. The flavor of the burger was ok but with how dry it was it was hard to pay attention to anything else. I also got sweet potato fries which were very bland. They didn't put any salt or seasoning on them and they were undercooked so they didn't even have that nice crunch or natural caramelization that you can get with sweet potato fries. Instead they were limp and boring. My husband only wanted a side of macaroni and cheese. He said it was good. It looked nice and cheesy. I didn't try it tho so can't speak about it. Maybe the bbq is the way to go here and not the burgers. I'm not sure. I'd try this spot again but would try a different menu item read more

This place hit the spot. I came with my wife and another couple during our day trip to the area. It is definitely off season and an overcast, windy day so there are not very many people around. It appears several locals came by to eat lunch here. I had their hot dogs. Great value and the taste was FANTASTIC!!! My tongue and tummy were happy. Everyone in the group loved their choices, too: flounder, burger and grilled shrimp. The new zucchini dish was fabulous; grilled or fried. Finally, the staff was engaging and fun. A&G was a south CB staple but the new version is a great member of the family. Super friendly staff, almost the same menu plus a few new items and specials. After reading the reviews, I expected much more for this place. The staff was all very friendly and sweet and accommodating to our kids. The hushpuppies were good, they come with a packaged honey butter and the kids loved them. Other sides are, in my opinion, what you'd expect and could make at home (fried okra, green beans, fries, collards) and the actual BBQ was dry and their sauce was very vinegary. The sweet tea is SWEET so if you like that, you're in the right place. This restaurant is definitely a home style cooking restaurant. Out of this world delicious. The hospitality was some of the best we've had. They were attentive and the food was out of this world. The ranch dressing was one of the best I've had. The fried chicken- crispy, well seasoned, and super moist. It was very clean. We weren't sure what to expect as it looks like an ice cream stand.
