They always have white rush Monacos in the freezer. All Monaco flavors can be found here. Great owners too!

Great vibe, great food…read more The pizza is from Middlebrow and it's fantastic pizza. Great toppings, flavorful combinations of toppings, fresh ingredients. The dough is delicious as well, tall but light and fluffy with a crispy edge to it. Would definitely get pizza there again. The beer menu is great, plenty of different styles and appreciate the access to the entire storefront. In fact, when I ordered the beer I wanted, they were out of it, so the guy just hopped into the storefront and go the next closest thing (another belgian quad that I know well). Will definitely return, had a great time

Started off with a west coast ipa that was excellent. Chased that with a Pilsner that was okay, followed by a cask red ale that was delicious. Tried a taste of the Scratch paw paw and hated it. Glad it was only a taste. Ordered a Caesar salad and a pepperoni & sausage pizza. The salad was outstanding. Big enough for a family of 4 and had a nice assortment of anchovies on top, which sucked balls, but a great salad nonetheless. The pizza is a Detroit style. Well put together with a great red sauce and plenty of cheese, but the sausage, though plentiful, had a twang to it. Service was super friendly and reasonably fast. Glad we gave it a try.

Admittedly, I felt like a straight-up alcoholic walking into a place called 'Houston Liquor &…read moreFoods.' I flashed back to college days of long drives to 'wet' counties, shifty looks, side-eyes from the clerks, and brown paper bags filled with Boones Farm and/or Cisco. But, when in Rome and without wine for a party, ya do what ya have to do. Plus, I should have realized that I was in North Center not... non-North Center. There's a reason why folks want to live in this neighborhood -- stuff's nice! At first glance, the spot is your requisite licka sto' -- complete with a selection of brightly colored, HFCS juices. Daddy like. But, after some digging into the wine selection... what's this? First, a selection. As in, choices. Real choices. In classy-looking bottles. Secondly, the wine selection is BROKEN INTO COUNTRIES! You heard me right: this small, neighborhood liquor store has a wine section that's broken into regions. Maybe it was the shock from my lowered expectations, but I was really impressed. I was not at all expecting to make this kind of find. To further sweeten the pot, the wine was priced at licka sto' prices. So, I was able to buy a fairly decent tempranillo that left a nice wad of green in my wallet. Who knew? Even the licka sto's in North Center are nice! Movin' on uuuppp....

The verticality challenged persons' wine display reminded my of the alcohol section in a bodega south of the Mexican border. I bought wine, beer, and a cigar. Every grocery store I have been to within the last year has a better and bigger alcohol selection than this joint. Wine prices are all clearly marked; I cannot say the same thing about the refrigerated beer. Regardless, this place gets the job done.
