We loved Buzz's on our trip to Hawaii!! The calamari steak is hands down our favorite bite of the trip! I am just dreaming I can find something similar back at home. Our service was amazing, I wish I could remember her name but she was dealing with a very difficult table and maintained the upmost positive attitude and helpfulness the entire meal! We sat outside both times and it was perfect! Food 10/10! Service 10/10! It's a must try restaurant!

My family has been coming here for years. Something I recently noticed for the first time, was a photo hanging at the bar of someone posing with to a dead Mano (Tiger Shark). Not cool. Please take this photo down! It's disrespectful. In Hawaiian culture, Manō are revered as 'aumākua (ancestral guardians/protectors).

Enjoyed a low-key business dinner here with friends. Not a fancy place but has a great vibe and great food! Located directly across from Kailua Beach Park, you can't go wrong and have a beautiful landscape to walk off dinner after. Their steamed artichoke appetizer was amazing! Service was excellent too with multiple servers regularly checking up on us.

My uncle found this cute spot while we were sightseeing the island. The cutest and cutest little restaurant. We stopped by for lunch and I feel like we got there just on time because shortly after they got really busy! I ordered a lychee martini that was a tad strong but still tasty. I also ordered the kai fruit salad with chicken which was perfectly refreshing. There is patio seating but we sat inside in what felt like a private nunk of the restaurant. Our service was super nice and tentative. We had a greatly experience overall.

Love this kitschy place with personality and lovely, friendly service! I finally got to go here for dinner with some friends last night as I've been hearing about it for quite some time. They have a variety of cuts of beef, pork, chicken, plus a couple fish choices that can be cooked any way you like - Chinese steamed, blackened, fried, etc. Since it's a steakhouse, I wanted the Top Sirloin of course (6 oz was just right for me - tasty and cooked to perfection!) with Spinach Salad (love this refreshing salad with bacon bits and egg), plus a side order of garlic mashed potatoes (fluffy and ono!) - perfect meal and completely happy and satisfied! My friends ordered dessert: Key Lime pie, lava cake and haupia ice cream - I got tastes of each - all were yummy!! I'm a fan and hope to be back really soon! Happy Holidays, everyone!

Family lunch with cousins. The ambience is one of "fine beach dining". Nautical decor. Has a local lore of the "best steak house in town". I ordered an Arnold Palmer that was very good along with the fresh fish Burrito. The party shared the steamed artichoke. It was served with course sea salt sprinkles and a mayonnaise based dip sauce. In my opinion the artichoke was under cooked as the petals were difficult to detach from the heart. The device was very attentive as the staff checked multiple times on drink refills and other requests. The fish burrito was wonderful with mostly fish filling and nicely omitted the typical beans and rice fillers.

Buzz's is a nice place to visit to get lunch in Kailua! It's right next to the beach so you don't have to walk very far if you're at the beach! They have delicious cocktails and a very chill vibe! We really enjoyed everything that we ordered! I got the chicken teriyaki which was flavorful and came with deliciously crunchy fries! Our table split a salad which we ordered with chicken, and it was very refreshing and tasty!! We also ordered their baby top sirloin which was perfectly cooked and a fantastic steak option! you can't go wrong with anything here! our server was very friendly and recommended that I try their Kailua Passion cocktail which was a rum and lilikoi flavored drink (passion fruit) it was very good and refreshing!!

Thanks for the response - BUT.... Chutney was not listed on the menu, in fact there were zero mentions of anything having cranberries on any dish, so I wouldn't even think it would be an issue. My meal was not removed from the bill. Will not return.

I had to come for the Calamari steak and Artichoke and I was more than impressed! Food, Mai Tai and the service might have been even better than the food!

We really enjoyed our visit to Buzz's, a nice afternoon spot for a couple of beers and some appetizers. The poke was absolutely delicious and the calamari steak was out of this world! We were treated wonderfully by the hostess and the bartender and couldn't have asked for a better afternoon! Would definitely go back!

What a lovely, breezy, dining experience right across the street from Kailua beach. Sit outside if you can . The food was beautifully plated and delicious. Portion sizes are good for the prices as well. Staff is friendly and efficient. Food took a little while to come out but everything tasted like it was from scratch so it was worth it.

A good meal with a great view! We sat out on the patio which was right next to the busy road but literally right across was the beach! The food was average - the teriyaki chicken burger tasted like a plate lunch on a burger bun, but the fries were nice and crispy and the tomato chicken pesto soup was phenomenal. The dessert was the highlight - the cinnamon bread pudding and mint chocolate chip ice cream pie with Oreo-crusted crust was amazing. Really nice service.

Best French dip I've had in awhile. The prime rib was so tender you could eat it with no teeth. Seriously. My waitress was very interactive and knew her menu. I did go with her recommendation and it didn't disappoint. Sat outside viewing the beach and people watching was great definitely will be back to try something else . I was so chill.

Tried to call to make a reservation the number isn't working could there number have changed?

    Power was out today!

Do they have a salad bar for lunch and dinner?

No salad bar that I have ever seen. Just salads in the menu.

Is it less crowded on weekday tha weekend?

They take reservations. I would suggest reservations any time you'll like to go. Seems consistently busy.

Is it still open for lunch?

It was when we ate there on vacation in February. My suggestion would be to call them on the phone old skool and ask.

How busy is it on a week night? Are reservations recommended?

Yes it's busy what ever time you go, definitely recommend reservations.

    What is there dress code?

    Island casual

Do they open on Thanksgiving day?

No, closed Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.

Do they have a salad bar like the one they had in Pearl City?

Yes, they do it's really good!

Do they have any vegan options on their dinner menu?

You could probably have a green salad, would not expect vegan here. They are such a small operation that's very well attended and probably don't feel the need to venture too far beyond steak.

You wouldn't even think there's a place like this in Kailua. There were a few steps to the door of the restaurant but as we exit the waitress let my mom through the back which had no stairs but a ramp leading to the side parking along the restaurant right side, since she was using a walker. I first came with my friend for dinner and I came with my mom for brunch after her dentist appointment, because I wanted to show her what became of the beloved Four Star Chop Suey decades ago. Brunch menu was not the usual breakfast items that we were used to, but I ordered what I thought she would like best. We had Breakfast Hash with potatoes, sausage, cheese, eggs, bell peppers but the sauce was a little spicy for mom. There were ingredients in the sauce which maybe was too much for mom. Citrus mint fruit salad, and Southern Chicken Biscuit and Gravy. The gravy was different.fitness good but, I preferred the dinner selection when I came with a friend who traveled all the way from Kapolei for some shared dishes and appetizers. She really liked it and it was flavorful and unique. We had the following dishes: Local Braised Oxtail Patatas Bravas Seared Poke nachos Seasonal Hummus Deconstructed Baklava Cheesecake Hiusemade breads Citrus mint fruit salad I would order everything again! The Oxtail was flavorful and delicious, The homemade breads were so warm and fresh. The breads were served with the seasonal hummus, and I love the citrus mint dressing on the fruits! So refreshing! Night time was busy and we didn't have reservations, so we were lucky we didn't have those high top table and chairs . Best to have reservations for dinner. Weekends have night entertainment in the bigger dining area. We came earlier, but as the night went on, it got busier and our waitress was also assisting other customers in the other room, so we were missed . Service could have been better. Not too many of my townie friends had made it to this side but it's a nice place to dine at to experience their food and beautiful ambiance! There were a few side parking stalls along the right wall of the restaurant, otherwise you would need to find street parking. There's a nearby 24 hour municipal parking lot and it's still a quarter of 20 minutes. This restaurant is not in the main Kailua town area. If you haven't been to Kailua, Kailua is a nice town to try all these different restaurants. You be surprised and pleased. They are closed on Monday & Tuesday. Brunch is on weekends from 9 am to 1 pm. Otherwise they open from Wednesday thru Sunday from 4pm to closing at 9pm and on Friday & Saturday nights they are opened til 11pm.

The lamb came with 4 pieces but 2 were cooked good and the other 2 seemed like it could have been cooked a little longer. The fish to me was also over done and a little touch and hard. I will go back because I do wanna try other things on their menu. Overall we still made it a great night and will come back again.

Multiple screens make it so there is not a bad seat in the house. We also hoped to find a place with more of a "neighborhood/locals" energy to chill and relax our tired dogs (feet) in...and also, if it wasn't asking too much, hoped that it would have a fun vibe. (*Check those criteria off). "Icing on the cake", for us would be if the location had decent food. (Check that one off and put an exclamation point behind it--as the nachos we had were, "Fire".) As fate would have it, a lucky break was to be had as we walked in to the very-full bar. There, before us, were two stools at the bar (*the last remaining spots in the place) and they happened to be open. Side note: The bar has a speak-easy attached to it, and one day, we are gonna try it. Going there has been mentioned a few times when we have chatted with locals and tourists regarding memorable and unique things to do. Our servers were pleasant and accommodating despite the fact that the place was "choke widd plenty-kine cust-a'mah" (local pidgin for, full of customers). It's a hard balancing act to make patrons feel welcomed, but also not leave other thirsty tables waiting for too long. The two pretty blondes working that afternoon did a fantastic job at this. My seasonal sour beer hit all the right notes, and my wife seemed to enjoy her less exotic tap beer (Blue moon with an orange slice--served ice cold). There is a ton of beers to choose from here. Lighting in the Kailua Tavern is kinda darkish (not a problem, as I like me a dark bar sometimes). The locals were very-welcoming. One guy offered his table to us when he noticed our food had arrived and our plates were a bit pinned in. Also, anyone who happened to be sitting near us immediately engaged in friendly banter about the games. One guy of Tongan decent, who was probably 6'5" and had muscles piled-on to his massive frame came over and leaned in very close to ask, "Hey DEN, Bradah, YOU MIND FOR IF I GO DANCE WICH YOU DATE?" (*That didn't happen, I thought channeling a classic moment from the bar-scene in, Animal House, would be funny...but like the Toronto Blue Jays in the late innings of last night's game, "Swing and a miss". ) The Kailua Town Tavern was the opposite of a swing and a miss for us. It was fun and a good place to "chill"; the vibe was what we had hoped for; and of special note were the steak strips on the nachos, as they were superb.

Both experiences were absolute culinary delights. It has been a long time since we've discovered another true destination restaurant in Hawaii, one that stands alongside favorites like Fête and a very select few others on the islands. In fact, Faria would fit seamlessly into the dining scenes of our favorite places--Greenpoint, Williamsburg, Tribeca, Soho, Paris--or even right at home. What sets Faria apart and places it in such elite company comes down to several things, all equally important. From the moment you walk in until the moment you leave, the genuine aloha spirit defines the experience. The floor staff move with an effortless grace, almost like a choreographed dance, and their knowledge of each dish feels as though they've cooked them themselves. The ambiance transports you directly to a charming Portuguese fishing village--warm, immaculate, and inviting. The owners, too, embody genuine hospitality: present but never overbearing, driven simply by their love for what they do. While we are not experts on Portuguese cuisine, we were instantly captivated by the depth and complexity of flavors layered throughout each dish. As wine educators and consultants, we especially appreciated the thoughtful wine selections, each pairing beautifully with the food. Our experience concluded perfectly with a memorable taste of a stunning Port wine. Over the course of our two visits, we enjoyed: * Bolinhos de Bacalhau // Cod + Potato Croquettes with lemon and herb mayo * Linguiça Assada // House linguica, served sizzling over a flame * Portuguese Bean Soup // A hearty blend of cabbage, sausage, smoked ham, and white beans * Granny Pereira's Piripiri Chicken // Whole roasted chicken leg with piripiri spice rub, lemon potatoes, and braised cabbage * Vinha D'alhos (Garlic Pork) // Braised pork with garlic, white wine, braised cabbage, and pão da lareira Each dish was prepared with obvious passion, precision, and respect for tradition, while still feeling vibrant and fresh. I was told that not all their dishes were stellar and now that I've experienced this I can attest to such. Really had a hankering for shrimp & chose the Mozambique although I was forewarned it was spicy and others have sent it back. I suggested if they would adjust the amount of sauce in the dish. Nope not possible as this is how the dishes are prepared & each dish tells a story. Ok, I should have asked to hear the story. But we know anything is possible and my request was not ridiculous.... I do enjoy spicy but honestly the peri peri sauce overpowers the excellently cooked shrimp & couscous. Unfortunately I could not finish it. Since it was my birthday I should have something I'm throughly enjoying. It was taken back and replaced with the peri peri chicken. Now the funniest thing is I am familiar with peri peri sauce. Expected more from this chicken dish but it really was too mild. I didn't mind that it wasn't super succulent but it lacked in flavor. However the cabbage and potatoes that accompanied it were lovely. I still like this restaurant overall in spite of a mildly disappointing experience. I also would have appreciated if they did not charge me $34 for the dish I could not finish on my bd. Honestly, Goen would never do that. It's very rare every dish in a restaurant is excellent. So you just need to know what to order. FYI, they must have the best wings in town!
