If I lived here this would be my go to spot. Off the beaten path, nice bar, view of the marina, great food, spot on service and a friendly smile when we entered.

    Sunset out our window!

Went for Valentine's Day and everyone loved it! This is a hidden gem right on the water in the harbor. The ambiance is Old Hawai'i at its best. You'll know that the moment you walk up! The service is friendly and the food was as advertised. I had the sashimi and it was just as fresh and wonderful as I read. Our group had the assortment from burgers to beef dips and everyone was happy. Yes, not 5 star dining of course but everything was great! The picture below was the sunset out the window by our table. We were told live entertainment on Fridays and Saturdays. Great place and I will be back for sure!

Surprisingly as a local girl, I had never been to La Mariana sailing club until this year! I was on my high school reunion committee and our reunion was coming up in June. We had planned a full week of events some were sponsored by our school, others were planned by our class. One of my classmates on the reunion committee mentioned this would be a great place to have a Friday night mixer! We scheduled a time to come out here to look over the menu and sample some of the food. It's one of the last few tiki bars in Hawaii. It has an old feel but was really fun! We all enjoyed the indoor decorations. For our Friday night mixer, we bought out the restaurant, got a DJ and had a lot of fun. Service was good, and the bartender was excellent and friendly. The food was hot and tasty, it's not gourmet. It's bar food, but still was good and I enjoyed it. Also had a chance to try some of their margaritas including mango and li hing. You're able to get no margaritas as well. It was a great event and a very memorable Friday night!

It's a beauty of a restaurant, in regards to its' mid century tiki decor - both inside and out. Utterly fantastic. The bar, the interior land even the outdoor pergola and tikis holding them up. Superb. It is off the beaten path in an industrial area of warehouses, but right on the water by some sailboats - hence the name. We stopped by on a Saturday around noon. It was completely dead. Only another party or two there. Our waitress was... unpleasant, put out and dismissive is how I would describe it. Even going as far to add some snide comments when asking questions about the menu. WTF. She may want to consider that the guests on vacation, patronizing the restaurant are what actually provide her livelihood. The food landed somewhere between average and sub-par. The two cocktails we had ordered were sugary fruity syrupy messes. We kind of wanted to try some other ones, but were honestly so put out by the piss poor attitude of our waitress that we just stopped there, finished what we could of our meal and wanted to leave. I'd imagine the entire experience would have been at least a little better if we had come on a different day when she was off. I'd be willing to try it again sometime, but then again there are so many choices in Honolulu that I don't know if I will bother. Ticked it up to 3 stars for the decor, but otherwise would have landed at 2.

Second time I've checked out this restaurant a once again satisfied with evening here. Located in an industrial area next to a harbor it's in a somewhat unusual location for a restaurant. That being said the view of boat harbor is beautiful and love the old style Tiki Bar appearance inside and out. It is a bit dark inside but doesn't spoil the ambiance. The service was very good, and our meal came out quickly hot and tasty. We all seem to enjoy our meals and pricing was reasonable and average. We meet here for our monthly Bookclub and it wasn't too noisy to hear one another, which was a good thing. If you do not know about this hidden little gem it's worth a try to check out one of the original Tiki Bar and Grills on Oahu. I few tv series scenes have been shot at this location.

Excellent service, only Mai Tai that tasted like the Trader Vic's I make following the recipe with the best rum. Other Mai Tai's taste sour or like a mix. The place is cool. The location is awesome. Hopefully it never goes out of business. I went for my birthday and it was the best birthday ever.

Relaxing food and atmosphere Great locals place that is a little hidden, but has been around forever. Food and service was great, and the seafood is authentic and amazing! The fish and chips was real Ono (wahoo) and very filling. The shrimp and linguini was fresh and tasty. Overall !

Sailed here from Hickam Harbor on an outing, which is an awesome feature. The tiki bar motif on the pier is very fitting and sailing in is much nicer than driving here. We received a warm, welcome and friendly service, but the food and drinks were just okay. Nice place to hang out as they have space for large groups.

Went for lunch. Husband had the shrimp cocktail and I had the French dip with fries which was delish. Frenchdip was not on one of the menus, but it was on the other. Good thing. Also ordered the edamame. We sat at the bar and Lilian served us. She was awesome. We both had a zombie and it was good. Also had a maitai that was also good. No dessert for us.

Our first stop when we get to Honolulu. It's an I conic tiki bar, so much history. Love the renovations that Gecko did and all the memorabilia. Highly recommend.

I finally made it here to try out after hearing good things for a while. I likes to unique decor and view of the water but it was a bit hot, next time I'll go in the winter I think. Quite a few flies which I didn't like. Anyway, my friend and I both had the mahi burger with onion rings amd we both enjoyed it. The mahi was cooked just right. Service was super friendly. I'm looking forward to going back and trying other menu items.

The Mai Tai drink was delicious. This was a perfect escape from the airport after I dropped off my bags at check in and left the airport instead of waiting around forever. We needed one last dinner and drinks before we sent ourselves back to the ice cold east coast. My cousin took us here and we were not disappointed. They both got the ahi tuna tacos and I got the coconut shrimp. There were some other things but I can't remember now. I had a few mai tais which put me right into snooze land for the bumpy first leg of the journey *note. There was a rat that ran around the restaurant from the outdoor seating area into the indoors area. I mean I can imagine it's hard to keep them out when the indoor outdoor is open from top to bottom buttttt make your own mind up

I don't want to tell you, because the food was good and there weren't many people. Made for a great afternoon lunch with view and great ambiance. Will be back for sure. Took cousins here while visiting and really enjoyed the menu, service and location.

Do you book private events for 15-20 people for a wedding dinner?

    Is it open yet?

I was at the property site on 06Apr 2022. A workiman told me that it would be ready to open in 2 to 3 weeks. Whether it actually opens at rhe time is a separate question. It is in no condition to open today 06 Apr 2022.

When really opening up? ? Crab cakes 😳

Open back up already? Hurry up! Shoot plenty of Magnum P.I. Here, and it looks great on TV.

    When will this place reopen?

When they flatten the curve. I heard just another two weeks. 🤞🏼

Is just the bar open now or is the restaurant open, too?

No - they are in an extensive remodel. They started with improving some items but the city inspectors forced them to be compliant with current code. They expect to be open around the end of the year.

Not a question, just went to see if La Mariana is open but sad to say its still close and no date for re-opening?

    Thanks for the update!

    Is the restaurant open yet?

Not as of 11/30/20. Looks like they're remodeling. Everything is pulled out

Do they sell tiki mugs or drinkware?

Yes, but sometimes the store is open and sometimes it's not so call ahead.

Is this business still open for business?

Jan 31, 2021 It is closed and not looking likely to open for a while.

To my surprise, on a Sunday evening after having dinner nearby at Maze, my wife and I walked over to Bar Leather Apron and we were able to get seated right away! In fact, around 7:30 p.m. when we stopped by, there was actually a ton of seating available in the bar. Who would've guessed. If you're in the same boat as me and are unable to find a reservation for your upcoming visit, I would encourage you to stop by and try a walk-in. The first page of the menu lists a wide variety of whiskey based cocktails. Most -- if not all, of the cocktails are pre-fixed with BLA (Bar Leather Apron), and represent a collaboration with the named distillery. If you're fan of whiskey, you'll definitely have a difficult time picking only one. I ultimately ordered their "Take Warning" -- 2021 BLA Knob Creek BLA Single Barrel, Cynar, Carpano Antica, Mezcal, Bergamot Salt. Drinks here are not cheap -- averaging $20 to $25 per drink. Although my drink was very spirit forward, it still felt very well balanced. I appreciated the hint of smokiness from the mezcal that rounded out the end of a sip. Service here quick and friendly. When we received the check, a cute small chocolate snack was brought over as well, borrowed from the menu at Maze. Overall, I can see why Bar Leather Apron has earned so many accolades in its field. Definitely worth a stop by if you enjoy the art of mixology.

Paying over $25 for an average burger felt excessive, and the overall quality did not justify the price. I was hoping for a much better dining experience.
