Black garlic truffle fries
Emily W.

Service was friendly. Food took a while to come out and they comped us for a beer we ordered due to the wait which was a kind gesture. Food was very mediocre. We got the black garlic truffle fries (probably the best item), pepperoni pizza, baja fish tacos, and jalapeño bacon burger. Pepperoni pizza was like frozen pizza. Chalky and barely had any sauce/cheese. Baja fish tacos were nothing special and on the dry side. Jalapeño bacon burger wasn't bad but nothing to write home about. Beef patty was pretty juicy though. Definitely a spot that's more for the beer + vibes than the food. I enjoyed the open air seating though and it's a nice spot to hang out.

Cheddar Burger

This place was great !!! Gotta say the service was 10/10 , Kennedy was awesome !!! Friends loved the nachoes with pork ... very good I had the cheddar burger and for sure the flavors were popping and yummy I gotta say the drinks were verrrry good True North , by far my favorite and could have plenty of it .... Will comeback to check it out again

Garlic Fries and Frozen POG with Alcohol
Luna G.

My family and I stopped in here after walking around shopping and looking for a place to sit down for lunch. It seemed more like just a brewery and meant to grab drinks until we sat down and grabbed a bite to eat. I ordered a hamburger and split garlic fries with my party. I also got a frozen POG juice drink with rum, which was so cool and refreshing. Also, definitely a good portion and size drink for the average person. The hamburger was cooked great, it was a good size, filling, and hit the spot just right! The garlic fries were good, but lacking what I guess I was expecting, which was more topping. The service was fine. Note: Because part of the restaurant is open, there are a good amount of birds just chilling inside. I still wouldn't mind coming back again!

Fish Sandwichh
Samantha H.

I highly recommend the fish sandwich! It's absolutely delicious! It's not part of the happier hour, but totally worth it. The service is often just okay; there have been a few visits where it looked like employees were switching out shifts. This guy took our drink order, then vanished. Another girl took over our table, and the guy came back at the end to give us the check. It was really odd, considering he didn't assist us the entire time. The service wasn't bad after we got the assistance we needed; it just came off as unorganized and confusing. I enjoy going here because the vibe is relaxing, almost as if you are on vacation. I prefer this location over the one in Waikiki, which is actually closer to my house.

I'm updating my review because this visit was a completely different experience and in the best way. I went with a much smaller party, just me and my boyfriend, and everything was smooth from start to finish. We ordered the wings and the black truffle garlic fries along with a couple of drinks, and the food came out super fast. The service was much better this time. Everyone was attentive, friendly, and the whole experience felt relaxed and enjoyable

Nachos

This experience was a bit above average. We really enjoyed the live music and our server team was attentive despite the establishment being busy. The food was comparable to Chilis or Red Robin. I'd certainly go back for the nachos. I had a fish taco and my wife had a cheeseburger. I sampled a bit. It was ok. Fish taco's- 6/10. Burger- 5/10. I'm not sure how the wings were but my kiddo seemed to approve. Yes there is much better (in the area) for the value. If you are an out of towner, check it out.

My $32 nachos lol
Keely G.

Fast and friendly service by the bartender and a nice, relaxed atmosphere after a day at the beach. The Mango Stickee Rice IPA (brewed w/ lactose, mango, jasmine rice & toasted coconut) was delicious, paired with a generous portion of nachos. What I didn't appreciate was a $19 order of nachos, becoming a $32 order when the bill came. It's a $8 up charge for achiote chicken or guava pork (and that's fine), but given the suggestion to do "half & half" I didn't realize I'd be charged for nearly two full portions of each. Imagine paying $32 for nachos... anywhere SMH. A manager did apologize and took off the upcharge, which was very much appreciated. Otherwise, an enjoyable early dinner.

My friend Deb was in Kailua and wanted to watch the Warriors game. She looked around and found Maui. She told me to meet her here. It's a nicely laid out place. We sat at the bar. The first bartender was great! Funny too! We ordered a couple of ales and some guacamole and chips. We then ordered wings and fries. Everything came out in a timely matter and good, I mean, it's bar food. It is a great place to watch sports because they have great flat screens. Janey arrived and ordered a caeser salad with chicken which she really liked. The bartender who served her, he wasn't as friendly. In this time, where prices are increasing and some people can't go out, the dining experience should be enjoyable. After the game we left. I would consider coming back if in the area.

HH Birria Nachos
Lily G.

The portions were yummy and big - the happy hour is a MUST! Our server was very sweet and kept us nice and hydrated. Not a full 5 stars because we spent most of the time overheating (yes we live here and are used to it). No AC inside, not enough fans outside, and the pigeons will run up on you with no hesitation, but if you can get past that- it is SO worth it for the food, beers, and service. Definitely would be a good spot for a cooler day.

Pork nachos

Big spacious restaurant with bar and patio seating. I enjoyed grilled chicken tacos, Mango wheat beer, and my son tried pork nachos. Everything was good but service was slow so take your time when you come to this location and would come back!

Nachos - veggie

Our server Sydney was a ray of sunshine on a rainy afternoon in Kailua. She was upbeat, attentive and on top of everything. We were lucky enough to arrive in time to enjoy happy hour. Great deals on drinks and vittles including $12 pizza and $9 nachos. The patio is nice and breezy but it's part of a high end strip mall so it's not the most charming location. However the service and quality of the food and drinks make up for it!

OMG Hazy IPA

Service was prompt and attentive! (Ty was our server) This was our first visit to this location after having been to Waikiki a few times. Easy parking, same good beer and food. We will probably return. We were able to share the fish tacos plus fries between two adults. Keiki enjoyed the burger.

Garlic and grana fries
Abby W.

We stopped into Maui Brewing for a drink and I couldn't pass up the garlic and grana fries. These fries were some of the best fries I've ever had and I'd come back purely for them alone. The thick and creamy ranch was the perfect dipping sauce.

Could tell it was a very popular spot and people kept coming in but luckily we made reservations. The menu was not very extensive but it had a good variety of beef ...chicken .. vegan and seafood . I ordered the Teriyaki Flap steak 6oz with rice/vegetables and my friend ordered a Teri burger not on the menu but the waitress said it could be done as only had a Teriyaki chicken burger . My Teriyaki flap steak was okay (little on the dry side) but was tasty. On the other hand ..my friend's Teri burger was not what she expected as the burger was grilled but Teri sauce on the side . So was not like a grilled Teri burger which was marinated in Teri sauce . ( server did not mention this) The server was very nice and offered us a birthday treat ... Vanilla ice cream in a brownie in honor of my birthday. It was very nice to sit and dine comfortably and chat without being rushed. I would like to return at dinner and try their regular steak dinners and the Artichoke surprise... with a night ambiance . Until the next time !!

We walked into Buzz's on a Sunday around noon during Mother's Day weekend. The place was absolutely…read morepacked -- buzzy in every sense of the word. Families hovered around the hostess stand hoping for a table, conversations floated through the air like music, and somewhere beneath it all you could feel the pulse of a place that had been feeding people and creating memories for generations. "There was a guy, his name was Buzz, a greater guy there never was..." Two haole boys and a haole girl from Oxnard, California stood in the middle of it all -- directly across the Pacific from our own modest beach town known as the Strawberry Capital of the World. Farming communities understand something important: the sacred relationship between people, food, and land. Buzz's felt like it understood that too. The sun-kissed, freckled-faced hostess greeted us warmly. The wait? About an hour. Not surprising. Places with soul usually require patience. Knowing my way around restaurants, I told her the best seat in the house is almost always the bar. That's where the stories live. That's where you meet the people making the magic happen. To my surprise, she smiled and welcomed us in. And there it was -- the perfect bar. Open, timeless, alive with character. Across from us sat an elegant woman in traditional Hawaiian attire, facing the ocean, staring through the front windows like she had done it a hundred Sundays before. She had it right - positioned on the best side of the bar. You don't turn your back to the view of the ocean, so we sat next to her. The room hummed with warmth and familiarity. It didn't feel transactional. It felt communal. "Seat da people, spock da chicks, Buzzy always got his pick." Then came the bartender -- commanding the room with charisma, warmth, and effortless aloha. Her energy moved through the restaurant like a tide. Every server who approached her bar carried away drinks and a little piece of her spirit. You could feel it. The laughter became contagious. The hospitality felt genuine. I wasn't drinking that day, but she kept the non-alcoholic daiquiris flowing with the same care and enthusiasm as every cocktail she served. Somewhere between the ocean breeze, the company, and the aloha spirit, I started questioning whether my drink secretly had alcohol in it. Maybe that's just what happens when people make you feel welcome. And then there was the food. The Teriyaki Steak was exceptional -- tender enough to cut like butter, rich with flavor, perfectly balanced alongside rice and vegetables. My cousin ordered the Fish Burrito and couldn't stop talking about it. By the end of the meal he declared it the best thing he'd eaten on the island. "Steak & lobster, salad bar, with a place like this he could go far." As we walked out and continued our adventure through Oahu, Buzz's kept circling back into the conversation. The people. The food. The laughter. The feeling. A little part of me wants to protect this place like a local secret. But that wouldn't be in the spirit of aloha. So much love and respect to everyone at Buzz's. Mahalo.

Beautiful decor of imitation plants that even the bathrooms were beautiful especially the women's bathroom by the kitchen. Even the Men's bathrooms were decorated. It's something you should see! You wouldn't even think there's a place like this in Kailua. There were a few steps to the door of the restaurant but as we exit the waitress let my mom through the back which had no stairs but a ramp leading to the side parking along the restaurant right side, since she was using a walker. I first came with my friend for dinner and I came with my mom for brunch after her dentist appointment, because I wanted to show her what became of the beloved Four Star Chop Suey decades ago. Brunch menu was not the usual breakfast items that we were used to, but I ordered what I thought she would like best. We had Breakfast Hash with potatoes, sausage, cheese, eggs, bell peppers but the sauce was a little spicy for mom. There were ingredients in the sauce which maybe was too much for mom. Citrus mint fruit salad, and Southern Chicken Biscuit and Gravy. The gravy was different.fitness good but, I preferred the dinner selection when I came with a friend who traveled all the way from Kapolei for some shared dishes and appetizers. She really liked it and it was flavorful and unique. We had the following dishes: Local Braised Oxtail Patatas Bravas Seared Poke nachos Seasonal Hummus Deconstructed Baklava Cheesecake Hiusemade breads Citrus mint fruit salad I would order everything again! The Oxtail was flavorful and delicious, The homemade breads were so warm and fresh. The breads were served with the seasonal hummus, and I love the citrus mint dressing on the fruits! So refreshing! Night time was busy and we didn't have reservations, so we were lucky we didn't have those high top table and chairs . Best to have reservations for dinner. Weekends have night entertainment in the bigger dining area. We came earlier, but as the night went on, it got busier and our waitress was also assisting other customers in the other room, so we were missed . Service could have been better. Not too many of my townie friends had made it to this side but it's a nice place to dine at to experience their food and beautiful ambiance! There were a few side parking stalls along the right wall of the restaurant, otherwise you would need to find street parking. There's a nearby 24 hour municipal parking lot and it's still a quarter of 20 minutes. This restaurant is not in the main Kailua town area. If you haven't been to Kailua, Kailua is a nice town to try all these different restaurants. You be surprised and pleased. They are closed on Monday & Tuesday. Brunch is on weekends from 9 am to 1 pm. Otherwise they open from Wednesday thru Sunday from 4pm to closing at 9pm and on Friday & Saturday nights they are opened til 11pm.

Multiple screens make it so there is not a bad seat in the house. We also hoped to find a place with more of a "neighborhood/locals" energy to chill and relax our tired dogs (feet) in...and also, if it wasn't asking too much, hoped that it would have a fun vibe. (*Check those criteria off). "Icing on the cake", for us would be if the location had decent food. (Check that one off and put an exclamation point behind it--as the nachos we had were, "Fire".) As fate would have it, a lucky break was to be had as we walked in to the very-full bar. There, before us, were two stools at the bar (*the last remaining spots in the place) and they happened to be open. Side note: The bar has a speak-easy attached to it, and one day, we are gonna try it. Going there has been mentioned a few times when we have chatted with locals and tourists regarding memorable and unique things to do. Our servers were pleasant and accommodating despite the fact that the place was "choke widd plenty-kine cust-a'mah" (local pidgin for, full of customers). It's a hard balancing act to make patrons feel welcomed, but also not leave other thirsty tables waiting for too long. The two pretty blondes working that afternoon did a fantastic job at this. My seasonal sour beer hit all the right notes, and my wife seemed to enjoy her less exotic tap beer (Blue moon with an orange slice--served ice cold). There is a ton of beers to choose from here. Lighting in the Kailua Tavern is kinda darkish (not a problem, as I like me a dark bar sometimes). The locals were very-welcoming. One guy offered his table to us when he noticed our food had arrived and our plates were a bit pinned in. Also, anyone who happened to be sitting near us immediately engaged in friendly banter about the games. One guy of Tongan decent, who was probably 6'5" and had muscles piled-on to his massive frame came over and leaned in very close to ask, "Hey DEN, Bradah, YOU MIND FOR IF I GO DANCE WICH YOU DATE?" (*That didn't happen, I thought channeling a classic moment from the bar-scene in, Animal House, would be funny...but like the Toronto Blue Jays in the late innings of last night's game, "Swing and a miss". ) The Kailua Town Tavern was the opposite of a swing and a miss for us. It was fun and a good place to "chill"; the vibe was what we had hoped for; and of special note were the steak strips on the nachos, as they were superb.
