Great work, great guy. We knew we needed an electrician when smoke started to come out of one of our light switches. After removing the old switch and capping the wires, I started looking for an electrician who could replace the switch and do some other stuff that I had been putting off for a while. I reached out to some friends for recommendations, and Brian was one of them. I left him a message and he returned my call within a day, and a couple days later he came out to look at the work that needed to be done. He wrote up an estimate, tweaked it a few times to reflect some minor changes, and then we were all set. He came out today to take care of it all. Among the things he did was replace a clunky old ceiling fan with a dim light, exchange out all the fan and light switches with new LED-compatible controls, replace the energy-burning halogen hall lights, upgrade the wiring in the garage, and install a new exterior outlet. He arrived precisely on time and got everything done inside of five hours, and left the place clean and neat. Outstanding work all around, and the cost of his expertise was very good. Brian is just a nice guy all around - very cheerful and chatty, and always happy to explain what he's doing. We found Brian of BW Electric through Yelp. How could we not go with Brian given his high rating. Glad we did. Not only did he do an excellent job for us, he was courteous, friendly, and professional. So what did he do for us? To begin with, he installed one picture spotlight and 6 LED lights in our family room and replaced 4 traditional overheads with LED lights. What made the task challenging is that the family room is below an upstairs bedroom which means he didn't have the luxury of an attic to run the wiring. Even so, he did the job with a small amount of cuts/holes in the ceilings and walls, something I really appreciate because that means less plastering and less painting. In addition to the family room, Brian also installed 4 LED lights in the master bedroom and replaced 3 traditional overheads with LED lights.All of this was done in one day as he had told us up front and when he left, he left the house clean. Gotta love it when a job gets done on time and you don't have to clean up afterwards! Not only was the job of high quality, it was also fairly priced. Yes, we had another electrician give us a quote for the same job and it was quite a bit more. Brian was also very patient in educating us on LED lighting. We had Brian replace two ceiling fans in our kitchen, and install a chandelier on a covered porch. He did a great job with the fans - they look and work beautifully. I hired Brian solely on the Yelp recommendations. They are all right on. Brian is a nice guy, very responsive and reliable (something not usually found in tradesmen.) He will call you back and he will show up. We had him install 10 recessed lights and a ceiling in a lofted upstairs bedroom that had no crawl space; consequently, he and his partner had to do this work from the outside while we were having the roof repaired. Brian worked with the roofers -- who tore off that section of the roof so that he and his partner could install the lights from above and not tear up our ceiling fishing wires across the room. They did a great job -- the lights are perfectly aligned, they didn't tear up the ceiling to do it, and Brian and Jeff left the room cleaner than they found it. Brian is a professional. I got my house rewired and he did a pretty good job. I had previous heard good reviews about him, hence asked him for a quote. I got quotes from a couple of other people. Brian's quote was in between the other two quotes. The lower quote I got was from a electrician whom I did not trust too much. He said he cannot do permits and what not. Hence, I went with Brian. Brian gave me a list of things he was going to do and he was very thorough. He finished the work in a couple of weeks, got necessary permits+approvals. It was nice working with him. Brian solved a problem we had in our 70-year-old Mountain View house - lights were blinking and sometimes cycling on and off. Some of the wiring is original, and some was added-on in the '70s or '80s, with obsolete Zinsco breakers and panels. I had replaced a breaker and opened up wall boxes and light connections to try to fix it - no luck. Brian troubleshot the problem and isolated it to 1) the breaker I had replaced was no good 2) some downstream breakers in a sub-panel were also no good.
