By Golly Springfield is a bar /restaurant that open in the old Roosters location on Bechtle. The inside is very basic, basically the old Roosters motive minus half the signage. Bar stock very basic, menu similar to Roosters with less emphasis on wings, they have pizza,burger, salad s, etc. Went in on a Saturday afternoon, not very crowded inside, sat at the bar, the service from our bartender was good although the food we had was cold. It was clear when we entered that this place was struggling from their initial opening. Bad reviews on service, etc. They posted a give us another chance so we decided to give it a try by golly. First impressions were not good. The place was empty and the table we chose to sit at hadn't been cleaned. However Liv the bartender rushed over and corrected the situation. We ordered apps and chose the Southwest Chicken Egg Rolls and Pretzel Bites. The Rolls tasted pretty good but the chili sauce was too sweet. Pretzel bites, again good but when we hit the bottom of the basket there was a lot of grease. Should drain more and then plate. My wife got the Cobb Salad. She loved it. Huge portion! Took more than half home. So got a sub and devoured it. Gave it 4 Stars. Great flavor and good portion. Now for the main event. By Golly's has a lot on the menu. Too much. But the burgers are what they are known for. It didn't disappoint. One of the best I've ever had. I got the double stack, habanero jack cheese with L,T,O, and added egg and side of their spicy BBQ sauce and OMG sauce. Properly seasoned, grilled to perfection, charred all around the edges and so juicy inside. The patties were at least 1/3 a pound each. It took a bit to finish but there was no way I was going to stop. The waffle fries were great but I only had a couple as I was focused on the main event. So. All said, go and get a burger. They are a new business trying to get their foothold in an over populated food area. The next time I want a burger this will be the place I'll go. Hope to see you there. read more

We opted to make the drive to Springfield to try By Golly's. When we arrived b/w 430-500 on Saturday and the parking lot was a ghost town we should have stayed in the truck. We proceeded to go in and see less than a dozen patrons. The staff of 2 (bartender & waitress) promptly greeted us and seated us at a dirty table but cleaned quickly. I tried a smash burger and onion rings (no French fries on the menu). The burger was WELL done and dry but the grease from the onion rings provided sufficient juice. My wife tried the grilled chicken and waffle fries. The chicken was good and the waffle fries arrived very late and were tepid. I applaud the working staff for trying their best but blame the management and owners for their lack of involvement. read more

One of the worst restaurant experiences I've ever experienced. The place hasn't changed since Roosters left. It's the same layout and decorations which is fine as long as the food is good. Well, It's not. My wife and I visited on a Monday around 7pm and were told they were out of burgers, chicken tenders, fish, & fries. I ordered a chicken parm hoagie and the wrong order was brought out. My wife ordered the chicken sandwich and chicken was severely overcooked. Ended up paying $60 and left hungry. Just an all around awful experience. read more

We go once a week and we've seen all the negative reviews, but have yet to experience anything other than great food and friendly service. I crave their buffalo chicken sandwich in my sleep. read more

My second time at By Golly's was just as good as the first time! Our server Becca was awesome! She was very attentive, made sure our food was to our satisfaction (it was!) and made us feel like old friends. We got the By Golly burger and the Chicken Bacon Ranch Flatbread. Both were very good and fulfilling! The ambiance could use a little help. They didn't change much from the previous establishment. You can see on the walls where there were signs that By Golly's took down and they have added a few of their own. They DID improve the lighting (thank goodness!). Tried this restaurant today with a party of 6. They had a menu on the table with various cocktails/mocktails. I ordered an old fashioned and the rest of the table ordered drinks. 15 mins later was told they do not have the ingredients to make the old fashioned so had to order a beer. Service was slow to check in and didn't take our order until almost 25 mins after we sat down. 4 people ordered quesadillas, 1 person got a hoagie, and I ordered a chicken sandwich. We also ordered several orders of loaded waffle fries. My sandwich was inedible, undercooked and the entire bottom bun was disintegrated and soaked. I sent it back. The quesadillas were barely warm and all our other food was cold. We left 50% of our food on the table and left. Will not be returning. read more

We decided to try this new restaurant that opened recently. We arrived at 605pm. We ordered a small nacho and it was ehhh. We were given no napkins or utensils. My husband went to the restroom to grab paper towels for us . My husband asked for an Italian sub. We were told they were out of subs. So he ordered a chicken tender platter. 15-20 mins later our waitress lets us know they were out of chicken tenders. He ordered the same thing as me, a buffalo chicken sandwich. It was not great. The chicken patty was odd looking and very little buffalo sauce on it. Our food arrived finally at 7pm. I watched a mother/son arrive 15 mins after us and got their food probably 15 mins before us. Service was so slow for us! Will we return? I do not think so. On another note their handicap signs in the parking lot are not proper signs in the state of Ohio. They need to be 6ft tall and the fine for said violation needs to be visible. Anyone can park there and fight the ticket in court. read more

We arrived to try this place, the only greeting we received was when we walked in the door and was told we can sit anywhere. We sat down noone came to our table to greet us, no menus on the table for us to see what may interest us. We ended up leaving. A gentleman who was sitting at the table next to us ended up being an employee off the clock and he inquired on our departure after we walked out which we advise no one greeted us, he was very nice and apologetic for the lack of service we received. But we definitely do not plan to attempt again. read more
